Celebrating 2015

Page 1

C E L E B R A T I N G

Dear Friends, As I look back at 2015, I am grateful and amazed at all God has done! This has been a year of transition as we completed significant construction on our Shea campus, and in many ways, reached the culmination of our Compelled by Grace vision. Through it all, God continued to bless and expand Scottsdale Bible’s ministry across our city. In this report, you’ll see a snapshot of the many ways God moved among us. The numbers we’ve shared represent countless stories of people who have experienced God’s redemptive and restorative power in their lives. Many have met Jesus for the first time this year or experienced His power as they shared the gospel on a mission trip. Others were encouraged by the love of a small group or grew through sacrificial giving of their time to help others. I pray you will be encouraged and inspired by what God accomplished through your church this year. Even more, I hope you’ll be moved to increase your personal involvement so you can participate more fully in His unfolding story. As we share and celebrate the successes, let’s not focus on making a name for ourselves, but on exalting Jesus Christ and making a great name for Him in our city and world. May we continue to be a community of Christ-followers, passionate about Him and marked by unconditional love and unity—a church God can use to carry His message of hope to a lost and hurting world. Your friend and pastor,

Jamie Rasmussen Senior Pastor

PARTNERING & SENDING TO IMPAC T OUR GLOBE FOR JESUS

Through key partnerships and relationships around the world, we are reaching out to the lost and hurting to share the truth and love of Christ in tangible ways.

YUCATAN

A $150,000 offering was given to fund construction of an in-patient wing at San Lucas Hospital where thousands of the poor receive care and love.

27 people volunteered at the European Leadership Forum where 600 leaders from 40 countries were equipped to reach their cultures. We also furthered partnerships with Tyndale House (a study center in Cambridge) and Highfields Church in Wales.

TANZANIA

MIDDLE EAST/MUSLIM WORLD

JENIN, ISRAEL

More than 800 children receive a quality education, food, clothing, healthcare and the gospel at our schools in Mairowa and Kondoa. 52 students graduated in 2015. Kids at VBS raised $6,000 for new playground equipment.

8

$10,000 was given toward “Count it Right! an evangelistic sports festival in Cairo that reached 15,000 people. 2,500 people turned in cards asking for information about Christianity.

WESTERN EUROPE

Progress on a ministry center in Jenin, supported by a $250,000 Compelled by Grace gift, is furthering outreach to university students and Palestinians in surrounding villages.

I am Muslim. I want something more. I know something is happening and am not in control anymore. For first time, I wanted to die and no longer to live. How I find your website is still mystery to me. But I believe I want more of your Jesus. I do believe he is God. I want to grow in Jesus but I live in a Muslim country. I truthfully could die if I say something. I want this. Let’s do it. - Abyan, 19, Azerbaijan (reached through our ministry partner Death2Life)

I’m new to AZ and have been following SBC via live feed since January when my fiancé introduced me to the church. I was born and raised Catholic and felt disconnected from God my entire life. Through SBC, I began to feel welcomed in my journey with God. I’m excited to be here now and want to get to know others and understand my faith in God, which has become very important in my life. - Lauren F.
