March 11-14, Rocky Point, Mexico

Families with children five and older are invited to participate in this mission trip to Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco), Mexico, to build homes for needy families in partnership with 1Mission Ministries. Every family that has a home built for them has completed at least 200 hours of community service in an effort to build up the community and develop a culture of ownership. Description: Slovakia has a strong Christian heritage, but the years of

Compostela. According to legend, the bones of Saint James are buried in the cathedral there, and it has been a pilgrimage site since the 9th century. Even today, pilgrims make this trek, some hiking hundreds of miles through Spain, many seeking a spiritual experience. Along the trails are refuges for pilgrims to stay overnight. Fuente del Peregrino, run by Campus Crusade for Christ, is one of the refuges. WORSHIP CENTER CHOIR AND ORCHESTRA

Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:30-8:15pm, January–May Serving Commitment: Three Sundays per month in the Worship Center services

Do you love to sing? Our choir has more than 100 vocalists ranging in age from 16 to 80+ who love to use their gifts and proclaim God’s glory in song. We learn a variety of musical styles to build a diverse repertoire of music that inspires and encourages, all while connecting with other believers in a unique and fun setting. If you play an instrument and would like to join our talented and fun group of musicians in the orchestra, please contact us for an audition. This group accompanies both our choir and worship music, adding rich textures to our Sunday morning Worship Center services. _________________________________________________________________________________________________

VOCAL TEAMS AND BANDS Vocal teams and bands serve in all Scottsdale Bible services, including Cactus Campus, Mountain Valley Campus, Grace Chapel, the Venue and the Worship Center. These teams consist of skilled musicians who help anchor our weekend services. Rehearsal and participation in a vocal team or band is scheduled on a rotational basis. _________________________________________________________________________________________________

CHAPEL CHORALE

Rehearsals: Thursdays, 6:30-8pm, Grace Chapel

The Chapel Chorale is an auditioned ensemble that leads worship approximately once a month in Grace Chapel. Rehearsals are on the Thursday evening prior to the scheduled Sunday. This group offers a quality musical experience in a smaller setting. The music selections range from classical anthems to current worship pieces.

CHAPEL BELLS

Bi-weekly, beginning January 11, 6pm, Grace Chapel

The Chapel Bells serve on Sunday mornings in Grace Chapel, as scheduled. While previous bell experience is helpful, it is not required. CHAPEL CHILDREN’S CHOIR

If your child loves to sing, the Chapel Children’s Choir can be a great place to nurture and develop that interest. The children enjoy a fun-filled time of singing and worshiping God while developing musical gifts and skills. PSALM 150 NIGHT OF MUSIC

Join us for an evening of music presented by our Scottsdale Bible choir and orchestra, along with members of the Phoenix Praise Symphony and the Arizona Christian University Chorale. The concert will conclude with the premier of Gospel Trinity, an extended work for choir and orchestra composed by Dr. Rosephayne Powell and commissioned by the Brehm New Music Initiative and Dr. Edwin M. Willmington, our former Pastor of Worship and Arts. Both Drs. Powell and Willmington will be participating in this special concert. Dress a Girl Around the World provides dresses made from pillowcases to girls in more than 75 countries. We meet monthly to sew dresses that are taken by Scottsdale Bible’s mission teams to girls in orphanages. Often this is the only dress a girl will own. Even if you don’t sew, you can help with cutting and other tasks, or by donating new/gently used pillowcases and decorative extras. House of Promise & House of Hope

Join us as we collect and deliver donations of clothing, household and children’s items to House of Promise and House of Hope, a ministry to single women, single moms and their kids. Consider investing in and encouraging another woman in her walk with Christ. To participate in this one-on-one ministry as a mentor, contact Brooke at bhellestrae@scottsdalebible.com. REACH OUR COMMUNITY HOUSE OF REFUGE-HOPE-PROMISE Cactus Campus has partnered with House of Refuge, House of Hope and House of Promise—three local ministries that provide transitional housing and support for men and women coming out of homelessness. Men are needed on Monday and Tuesday evenings to help disciple men at House of Refuge. Women are needed for oneon-one mentoring with the women at House of Hope and House of Promise. We also collect and deliver donations of clothing, household goods, and children’s items.

This volunteer-based food bank, located blocks from our church, provides emergency assistance to individuals and families living in the Paradise Valley School District. We volunteer, donate food, and pick up donations from schools and grocery stores.

MENTOR KIDS USA This Christian ministry recruits, trains and supports mentors who empower youth facing tough life challenges to reach their God-given potential. Volunteer mentors are needed to help with after-school programs once a week. Mentors will work with 1st-3rd graders on homework, reading, sports, gardening, crafts and Bible study.

Parent-child dedications are an opportunity for parents to publicly commit to raising their children in a Christ-centered home. The ceremony features a blessing over the child that includes a prayer created and read aloud by the parent(s). Students are challenged to “take over” the morning by volunteering to help in all areas: teaching, worship, games and/or greeting. This is a unique opportunity for students to challenge themselves in leadership.

In our Wednesday small groups, we strive to provide a place for students to further their understanding of God, the Bible and themselves. Come see your spiritual life grow, and form meaningful friendships as you take your relationship with God to the next level.

PERIMETER PROJECT – HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE STUDY

It began in 2005 with a simple mission: to support a small group of orphans in Kenya whose parents died of AIDS. In 2007, Pastor Joseph came to Mountain Valley Church with the hope of gaining the commitment of eight sponsors. After sharing the heartbreaking story and plight of the orphans in his community, the church responded with 76 commitments. With several churches and donors now throughout the U.S., construction funds and more sponsors have started supporting the orphans. In 2012, Africa Hope Center moved into its new home with 110 children being housed, fed and educated. They also receive medical attention and counseling.
