‘Kissed by an Angel Winery’ Ribbon Cutting Celebrated by the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce Story and Photo By Jay Peters
A
large crowd showed up Thursday, February 23 to celebrate the ribbon cutting ceremony for one of the newest chamber members, Kissed by an Angel Wines. The recently opened tasting room at 1210 Mount Herman road attracted a happy and rowdy group of about 50 Chamber members who came to celebrate the grand opening of this beautiful facility. The event also featured a photo booth provided by Jesse Gabriel Photography and on hand with tunes to enhance the fun factor for those who attended was Jack Crawford from Music Now. The hosts for the event were Larry Olivo, and his wife Lisa. Larry is a 3rd generation wines maker, with over 30 years experience. Larry began making wine with his grandfather in San Fran-
cisco at the age of 6 and is the first family member to take the family’s wine to the commercial market. Lisa and Larry served some incredible wines to those who attended making sure that everyone there felt welcome. Their focus on quality wines made with grapes from our local mountains has proven to be a great hit with the community. Kissed by an Angel Winery was founded by Lisa and Larry to honor their daughter Amanda, who passed away in 2007 from Kidney disease at the age of 22. Each year they donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of their wines to the Make a Wish Foundation. The foundation had granted Amanda her wish as she was dealing with her fatal disease. That wish took the family to New York
City to be part of the Rosie O’Donnell show and provided an unforgettable experience for them. Their desire to give back to the foundation is obviously sincere. Take the opportunity to stop in and
sample the wines and meet the owners, I’m sure you will return again. They offer delicious wines by the bottle, case, or you can join their wine club to sample the full variety of the wines being produced by the small winery with a big heart.
