GoboSource A Scotts Valley Projection Company with Global Reach

Y

ou may not be familiar with the word gobo* but the odds are good you’ve seen quite a few. GoboSource, a custom gobo and projection company based in Scotts Valley, designs and produces both gobos and gobo projectors for local DJs and event planners to Fortune 500 companies like Tesla, GM and Caterpillar. A gobo is a small disc template made of glass, metal, or film. Customers can choose from hundreds of stock designs or submit their own custom design to be translated onto the gobo. When placed in a gobo projector, light shines through the gobo and projects the image onto a surface. You may have seen a custom GoboSource projection at your friend’s wedding, the San Francisco International Airport, or even at the Super Bowl. GoboSource founders and owners, Uli and Farah Theissen, started the company back in 2005. When they first opened their doors, it was just a husband and wife duo, but now the couple employs 10 people at their Scotts Valley office and dozens more at their U.S. and internationally-based manufacturing facilities. GoboSource serves over 28,000 customers across North America and ships gobo lighting technology as far as Australia and Asia. Although the company has a global reach, GoboSource is committed to their local community. Uli and Farah raised both their sons in the Scotts Valley School District and donate
