ScoutsTT pays tribute to a highly respected man who has impacted the lives of many with whom he has crossed paths. In his capacity as an educator and as a true scout leader, he dedicated his life to the service of others, developing character in young people and doing his part in making the world a better place. Lal, as he was fondly known, got his start in scouting as a Cub Scout at the 1st Gasparillo Scout Group. He then moved onto 1st Naparima College Scouts, where he became Senior Patrol Leader. In 1966 he founded the 2nd Bonne Aventure Scout Troop in his home village of Bonne Aventure, where he was well-known as a community elder up until his passing.

He will always be remembered as a kindhearted gentleman, an exemplar who lived by his words, encouraging everyone to help someone be a better person every day. The Scout Association of Trinidad and Tobago extends our deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Lalman Nanan. May his soul rest in peace.

National Scout Rally Celebrating 105 Years of Scouting in T&T January 4, 2017 marked 105 years since the Scout Association of Trinidad and Tobago became incorporated under the Royal Charter granted by the British Crown. In commemoration of this milestone, ScoutsTT hosted a National Rally and Family Day on March 11, 2017 in San Fernando. The Rally, themed ‘Scouting: Strong Leaders, Strong Values’, started at 8:30am with an interfaith church service at Susamachar Presbyterian Church followed by a march to Naparima College Grounds where our members had the chance to partake in some exciting activities such as ziplining, rock climbing, archery, laser tag and ATV rides. The Chief Scout, His Excellency President Anthony Carmona was present at the church service where he gave his remarks to the hundreds of youth members and leaders present.

Towards a New Scouting Adventure LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE

Every scout deserves to have a good leader. Good leadership requires that persons aspiring to such positions are properly trained and prepared for the significant responsibilities that they will be assuming.

Training of adult volunteers to successfully deliver the Scout program has therefore evolved into a well-articulated, thorough curriculum of courses to be completed, as leaders and our adults prepare themselves for the specific roles they intend to assume.

The Scout Association of Trinidad and Tobago is committed to ensuring that the best possible leadership and adult resources are provided, so that the young boys and girls who join our program get the best quality experience that can be provided.

It is our aspiration that Scouting’s youth, volunteer leaders, and employees exemplify leadership excellence across all aspects of the movement.
