2020 CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP ALAN SORENSEN, PGA, WINS IN DRAMATIC FASHION! Alan Sorensen of Buena Vista Golf Course claims his second Southern California Senior PGA Professional Championship title at Soboba Springs Golf Course after carding backto-back rounds of 69 for a six-under, 138 total! The victory didn’t come easy for Sorensen who claimed the 36-hole championship title by defeating Mike Fergin of Mesa Verde Golf Club in a two-hole sudden death playoff. After tying the par four 18th, it was a well placed approach shot out of the bunker by Sorensen on the par four 10th that led to a tap in birdie for the win. “I’m very surprised to win this championship, I was six-under through 11 holes and felt like I was cruising until I lost a ball on the 12th hole. I was fortunate to pull it together coming down the stretch and get myself into the playoff,” said Sorensen. Sorensen will join 14 SCPGA Professionals at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL on October 15-18, 2020 for the Senior PGA Professional Championship (PPC). “I’m looking forward to representing the SCPGA at the Senior PPC in Florida, I’ve played the course before and feel comfortable with where my game is at right now. Plus, this year my wife has already told me that we will be driving there, so I’m excited for the whole experience,” said Sorensen.
