Key Building Features • Healthcare Simulation Center Fully outfitted with video capture technology, high fidelity manikins, modern hospital equipment, and Pyxis automated medication dispensing machines; Includes 6 simulated hospital rooms; 4 standardized patient rooms, home simulation suite; and two debriefing classrooms where student can view videotaped patient interactions and consult with faculty supervisors and other peers. • Nursing Laboratory Classrooms Each of the 4 labs includes six beds, six exam tables, nursing equipment and technology, and a teaching presentation area that seats16 students. • Communication Disorders Clinic and Research Center Provides speech, language and hearing services to children and adults from our community; Fully outfitted with video capture technology, 8 medium and 3 large clinic rooms with adjoining observation areas and separate video observation room; Audiology clinic and research lab with 3 sound booths; and 2 language learning and research labs. • Human Performance Teaching and Research Laboratories Spacious, high technology labs for exercise physiology, neurophysiology, biomechanics, and assessment of health, fitness, and metabolism; Bod Pod machine measures body fat percentage using air displacement; Motion capture technology and force plates allow for movement analysis. Home to Southern’s Running Injury Clinic. • Center for Adaptive Sport and Inclusive Recreation Provides adaptive sport and recreational opportunities for individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities; Supervised by students from our Therapeutic Recreation programs. • Athletic Training Laboratory Learning lab for students in our Master of Science Athletic Training Program. • Classrooms In addition to extensive hands-on learning labs the building includes classrooms for collaborative learning, culinary teaching, and a 120-seat lecture hall that can be separated into 2 x 60-seat rooms. • Interprofessional Collaboration Suite Open floor plan with a variety of meeting areas; 5 hoteling offices for adjunct faculty; includes a central kitchen/ breakroom for use by over 100 faculty and staff who are housed in the building. • Department Office Suites and Research Areas
