Do you have photos in boxes or files like this one? Don’t let any more time pass by to find out the history of your family and attach a name to all those unknown ancestors. Join the Sun City Vistoso Genealogy Society, and we can help you identify members in your family tree. If you are new to genealogy, contact Holly Gibson ghgibson@ live.com to set up a time to check out the lab and become a new member. Consult the club website for days and hours the library is available. Help is available for beginners and experienced researchers.
The Genealogy Club will be meeting again starting in October on Mondays to accommodate the remodeling scheduled in the Activity Center. Check the club calendar and mark your calendars for the new schedule.

Poets Corner Sharyn Rafieyan 520-331-1092 srafieyan@comcast.net Mon., 10:30 AM-12:30 PM, WC1
Poetry can express a wide range of emotions. This month’s selection by Poets Corner member Christa Lubatkin is charming, sweet and extremely endearing. The group unanimously agreed to its placement in the Tipster. So forget about the heat and just enjoy a little light entertainment!
“He knows how to love me no awkward declarations / no promises forever after / no polished moves / to gain the inside track he kisses my hands / my arms / my toes / with devoted languor no accusations / when I return late / only tail-wagging joy his bowl empty / I fill it / his water gone / I replace it
It’s all I have to do / to stay his one and only “
Meanwhile, we fully expect to resume meeting in person by October, but anticipate retaining an online option of some sort for a few more months. Newcomers, as always, will be welcome.

SCOV club presidents are encouraged to contact Paul Sherwood with any digital needs that can be provided in the lab.
Monthly general club meeting options are being considered for online and in-person attendance. Topics like how to age in place using electronics, accessing the medical industry from home, electronics for your motor home and exciting virtual tours may be discussed, if our members express interest.
Annual club membership is still only $10 per household. Visit the website for PayPal or debit/credit card options.

Many people in SCOV have been fully vaccinated, so we are optimistic that we will likely be able to resume our inhome dinners in the fall. The board will be communicating with membership about the conditions under which members would feel comfortable hosting. As our name implies, our members usually prepare meals that follow an agreedupon theme and share our dishes in the home of a host. The board is considering a club activity in September and possibly earlier. Anyone interested in joining the club should email Debbie dlkotlarek@gmail.com to get on our email list.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable July 4th and are enjoying your summer. Our club membership has increased 11% in just the last four months, which is fantastic considering the pandemic is just now subsiding and it is our slow season. Utilization of the small dog and large dog park is consistently increasing even with hot weather. People are adjusting their schedules to come earlier or later in the day to avoid the hottest times.
Remember, please clean up after your pet whether inside the dog park, walking in the neighborhood or anywhere your dog goes. I know almost everyone follows this rule while in busy places, but please be courteous and pick up even if hiking out on the remote trails.
Garden Club Co-Pres. Joyce Wisbey 520-825-5425 bwisbey90@msn.com Co-Pres. Peggy Knapp 520-825-0664 pegnap@gmail.com VP Charlotte Herbert 541-580-6289 charlotte.h12@gmail.com https://sites.google.com/view/scov-garden-club/home
Harlow Gardens has the following recommendations for August instant color: Continue to plant summer annuals, especially for instant color and for containers. Popular varieties include angelonia, sweet potato vine, pentas, periwinkle and dusty miller. Palms: This is a great month for planting palms, which thrive in our hot climate. The most popular palm is the Mediterranean Fan Palm. Watering: Generally, monsoon rains are not a substitute for your regular summer watering schedule. Continue to water established trees and shrubs about once a week. Water slowly and deeply, allowing water to penetrate to the entire root system of your plant. We are planning some desert-focused information speakers for our monthly meetings and some great tours, too. Check out the club website for upcoming events in the fall. We begin taking new and renewing memberships for 2022 in October. If interested in receiving club communications, contact Annette Munoz queenanne9@yahoo.com.
