Drs. Curt, Linda and the m i s s i o n s ’ t e a m travelled to San Juan, Puerto Rico October 6-10, 2006. There they teamed with Pastor Nathan Mercado (River of Compassion Ministries, Dallas, Texas) for several days of ministry. Puerto Rico is known for its beautiful beaches, tropical weather and delicious cuisine. A new church edifice, founded by Reverend Carmelo Carillo was dedicated in the city of Patillas. The week of dedication services were fruitful as lives were changed and several people accepted Jesus Christ. An entire day was devoted to evangelism in

the neighborhoods, including feeding hungry and praying for the sick.

the

Pastor Lucy Quinones (Iglesia Cristiana del Camino) hosted the teams in the city of Fajardo. There was a great breakthrough and outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God confirmed His word with signs and wonders. The spirit of revival was truly in the place!

Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. (Psalm 2:8)

What is authentic worship? What does it look like or resemble? Does it have a sound or form? Even though there are several different Hebrew and Greek words in the Bible that are translated worship, believers still search for the true meaning of worship. The Hebrew primary word for worship is the word “ s h a c a h ” w h i c hm e a n s“ t od e p r e s s , prostrate (in homage to royalty or God) – to bow down, crouch, fall down flat, obeisance, do reference, to make to stoop. One Greek word for worship is “ p r o s k u n e o ”which m e a n s t o k i s s ( a s a d o gl i c k s h i s m a s t e r ’ s hand) to prostrate oneself in homage, to do reverence, to adore. The actual first time the word worship is mentioned in scripture is in Genesis 22:5. The Lord asks Abraham to offer his son Isaac before him on Mount Moriah. Though we often associate worship with music there (Continued on page 10)

(Continued from page 9)

is no mention of any musical instruments here. The only instruments Abraham would use are w o o d , f i r ea n dak n i f e .H e r eA b r a h a m ’ s w o r s h i p was sacrifice, obedience and faith. This we must conclude is worship in its highest form. In the New Testament a leper came to Jesus (Matthew 8:2-3, NAS) and bowed to him saying “ L o r d , i f y o ua r e w i l l i n gy o uc a nm a k e m e c l e a n . ” He stretched out his hand and touched him s a y i n g “ Ia m w i l l i n g ;b ec l e a n s e d ”a n d immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Notice

the first thing the man did when he came to Jesus:

he bowed down to Him, and then he

made his request known to Him. worship brought the healing

This act of

virtue of

God

quickly. On another occasion in Matthew 9:18 (NAS) a political ruler or synagogue official came kneeling down to worship Jesus.

His daughter had just

died but he requested Jesus to come and lay his hand on her (to restore her life).

Was this

proper protocol for a political ruler?

Probably

not, but rather a sign of true worship in sincere faith and humility in his time of need. Our final and third New Testament example is found in Matthew 15:22 (NAS). Many know the account of this miracle because this Canaanite woman was described by Jesus as having great faith.

However, initially she came crying and

pleading loudly for Jesus to have mercy on her daughter who was demon possessed.

When

Jesus did not answer her plea, she came, bowed and worshipped him. Then Jesus answered her proclaiming her faith great and her daughter was healed at once.

Everyone on the face of the earth recognizes a harvest only comes after sowing (planting) a seed, watering it and allowing it to grow to a ripened status or maturity. Sowing means you are giving or planting something (a seed) into someone or something. There are many different things to sow from and into in your life. A person can sow money, resources, kind words of encouragement, time, talents, gifts and so many more. The harvest is the reaping, the gathering in, the increase from that which has been sown. The Holy Spirit has declared the Harvest season. Surely you did not forget where you planted. Surely you have sown seed from which you have not harvested. This is the year of Manifestation and the year is not over. A certain season has been declared. As with anything declared by God it must be spiritually discerned. (I Corinthians 2:14).

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:7, 9 NIV). To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2). When the HARVEST time comes you reap from where you have sown. The above scriptures show us this is a divine eternal p r i n c i p l e .G o d ’ s l a wo f t h eH a r v e s t w i l l b ei n force for as long as time remains according to Genesis 8:22. If you have been faithful to sow your seed, the Lord is faithful to give you a spiritual, p h y s i c a l a n df i n a n c i a l h a r v e s t .L e t ’ sr e c e i v e i t , i t ’ s H A R V E S T T I M E .
