CITY OF SEABROOK EMPLOYEES ANNOUNCE ANNUAL SHARE YOUR CHRISTMAS GIFT DRIVE November 30 is the kick-off for SHARE YOUR CHRISTMAS 2009. We invite you to take a “star” off our tree and make a child’s wish come true. The tree is located in the upstairs lobby of City Hall and the instructions are as follows: 1. “Stars” will have the age and gift wish of each child and are numbered so that the gift will be matched to the child, while keeping the child’s anonymity. 2.

Funding Secured for New Meador Library in Seabrook Harris County Precinct Two Commissioner Sylvia R. Garcia has succeeded H i C P i T C i i S l i R G i h d d in securing funding to build the new Evelyn Meador Library in Seabrook. The announcement follows Tuesday’s Commissioners Court meeting during which the appropriation of the funding was voted on by the full g pp p g y court. This action ensures that the estimated $4.96 million needed for construction of the new structure will be in place once the City of Seabrook‐funded design portion of the project is completed and approved by the county’ss Public Infrastructure Department. approved by the county Public Infrastructure Department “ I made a commitment to the City and the residents of the area on this library and I appreciate their patience as we move through a challenging economic time for the County in finding funding for any sort of capital project,” Garcia said. “At times, the process has moved slowly but I am pleased that we have moved to the point of being able to commit funds while Harris County faces budget constraints ” while Harris County faces budget constraints. Due to damage caused by Hurricane Ike, the 7,200 square foot library is now closed. The new library is projected at 20,000 square feet. A timeline on when the new library will open will become available once the county is ready to go out for construction bids.

Dog Tags, Garbage Bags and Free Service  The Water Department will be issuing new 2010 city animal registration tags at the end of December. If you own a dog or cat, you must register them with the city.  Garbage bags are available for no charge in January. RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 3, 2009 SPECIAL ELECTION: The City held a special election on November 3, 2009 to fill a vacancy due to the resignation of Tom Diegelman. Thom Kolupski was elected as the new Councilmember in P iti 5 for Position f a term t ending di May, M 2012. 2012

Council took the following actions at the recent council meetings. All votes are unanimous unless otherwise noted. AWARDED a bid to Charnock & Company in the amount of $29,000 for the repair of McHale Park due to Hurricane Ike. This will be funded through FEMA reimbursement. APPROVED agreements between the Seabrook Economic Development Corporation and Griffin Communications Group for Marketing Communications Services in an amount not to exceed $15,000 and for a general Marketing Plan in an amount not to exceed $15,000. These are budgeted items to be paid by EDC tax funds. APPROVED an Interlocal Agreement with Harris County in the amount of $5,004.79 for the implementation of a regional watershed education protection program as required by the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ ) (TCEQ.)

APPROVED an Interlocal Agreement with Harris County to provide mutual aid and emergency assistance as needed. APPROVED an agreement with Harris County for the construction of a new, larger library to replace the current Evelyn Meador library which was damaged by Hurricane Ike. The city will pay an additional $799,000 which will be funded by bonds which were previously approved by Seabrook voters. APPROVED a proposal in the amount of $29 $29,000, 000 plus reimbursable expenses expenses, from Burditt Consultants. LLC for professional design services for the new Drusilla Carothers Coastal Gardens Project in Pine Gully Park. This will be paid by bond monies which were previously approved by Seabrook voters. APPROVED the th reappointment i t t off Margaret M t Hunt H t and d Carl C l Kuehnel K h l tto the th Ethics Ethi Review Commission for two year terms to expire October 31, 2011. APPROVED refunding the application and appraisal fees to the applicants of street closings g for: of the northwest end of Fourth Street;; the eastern end of Ballentine Street and the eastern end of Porter Street as the city is unable to consider selling these streets.

4th Annual ERIC T. DUCKWORTH MEMORIAL HOLIDAY COOKIE DRIVE HOLIDAY COOKIE DRIVE Here in Seabrook with the help of the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department, we are sponsoring Seabrook’ss fourth (4th) annual cookie drive for our service men and women sponsoring Seabrook fourth (4th) annual cookie drive for our service men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2007 Seabrook lost one of our own sons in Iraq. Staff Sgt. Eric T. Duckworth, 26, died October 10, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. In honor of Eric's ultimate sacrifice for our country, Seabrook has named the Holiday Cookie Drive after him. In addition to donations of cookies we are accepting donations of money to offset the cost of shipping. There is a box to put your donation at city hall up stairs where you pay you water bill. Donations of Cookies are accepted at Fire Station #1, 1850 E.
