The Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a blood drive. The drive will be held on Monday, January 31st, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in association with the UTMB Blood Bank. All community members are invited and encouraged to participate in the blood drive, which will be held at the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department, Station 1, located at 1850 E. Meyer Road. Bayside Area Little League Spring 2011 Baseball Registration Boys & Girls ages 4 – 12 (as of April 30, 2011) You are within the Bayside boundaries if you live in Seabrook, Kemah, El Lago, Clear Lake Shores, Bayview, Taylor Lake Village, parts of League City including the following subdivisions: Bay Ridge, Glen Cove, Harbour Park, Lakeside, Marbella, Marina Bay Park, Marina Del Sol, Whispering Lakes Ranch, South Shore Park, Baycliff north of Gordy Road, and Shore Acres south of Fairfield. From the Water Dept. – Dog Tag Renewals, Garbage Bags, Over 65 Free Service · The Water Department will be issuing new 2011 city animal registration tags. If you own an animal, you must register them with the city. Also, a reminder that the City of Seabrook has an animal shelter. If you would like to contact the shelter, please call (281) 474-2590. · Garbage bags are available in January. These are for the customers who do not have the garbage tote. · Residents 65 or older are eligible for “free” garbage service. You should bring proof of residency and proof of age to the Water Dept.
“CERT is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens may initially be on their own and their actions make a difference.� The next class begins Thursday, January 13, 2011, and continues for 8 weeks with the last class being a disaster simulation drill with the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) and the Clear Lake Emergency Medical Corp (CLEMC). The classes will be held at the SVFD, 1850 E. Meyer, 6:30-9:30 pm. There are no physical requirements or restrictions to become a CERT member and the class is free. The course instruction manual and starter backpack is provided and the course is free. ITEMS YOU CAN RECYCLE •Newspapers only. No phone books, mail or other papers. •Glass Bottles and Jars. Remove all metal caps, rings and lids. It’s not necessary to remove labels. •Aluminum cans. Beverage cans only. Its not necessary to crush the cans, but it will save space in your recycling container. •Steel cans. Rinse, no need to remove labels or ends. Steel lids from glass or plastic jars are recyclable too. NO scrap metal. •Plastic. Only clear plastic milk, juice and water bottles. All caps and rings must be removed. Paper labels may be left on. No colored plastic. Please set your recyclables curbside by 7:00 a.m. on the day of your pick up.
