AUTHENTIC Sailing JOURNEYS
The luxury is in the details
SEA CLOUD CRUISES
Welcome TO SEA CLOUD CRUISES
Dear Sailing Enthusiasts,
Welcome to SEA CLOUD CRUISES, luxury sailing experiences on authentic sailing yachts. We are thrilled to share our brand new 2025 brochure. Enclosed are extensive details on our five-star ships, exclusive itineraries, world-class destinations, and boutique ports off the beaten path that veer away from the crowds. To start the year, we feature San Juan as our special January homeport for SEA CLOUD SPIRIT. To celebrate this exciting and historic port, famed Puerto Rican chefs will guest host each of the four sailings that month, kicking off our new partnership with Chef’s Dining Table.
We’re also excited to announce several new ventures for next year, including collaborations with Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, The Breakers Palm Beach, and Brightline High-Speed Passenger Train. Additionally, we have several renowned guest lecturers joining us on board who will entertain with informative talks in their fields.
In April, we’ll celebrate SEA CLOUD’s 94th birthday with a special Mediterranean sailing. And then, October 16th marks her bon voyage before heading into dry-dock for a big birthday makeover. She’ll re-emerge fully refreshed for a year of 95th anniversary events.
In 2025, our Curated Moments—complimentary private events onshore—will take guests to special evenings at museums and exclusive excursions in Spain and Italy. Our bespoke journeys open up special worlds only a select few are ever privy to, from orchestra concerts at prestigious venues to front-row seats at the most elite regattas and car races.
Thank you for joining us, and welcome to the SEA CLOUD Difference.
Sincerely,
Daniel Schäfer President SEA CLOUD CRUISES

THREE TALL Ships
Among our unique fleet everyone finds their personal favorite. What unites all three is a contemplated curation of exclusive luxuries, attention to detail and first-class service, delivering unforgettable sailing experiences.
SEA CLOUD
A living legend, built as a luxury yacht over 90 years ago. Today, she unites extravagant charm and the authentic feeling only a tall sailing ship can offer. This proud ship with an eventful past was the model that inspired our two most recent tall ships.
64 guests (32 outside cabins) / 60 crew. Restaurant, lido deck with bar, lounge with library. Total sail area approx. 32,000 sq ft. (29 sails, 4 masts)
SEA CLOUD II
A spacious private yacht, SEA CLOUD II follows the tradition of the SEA CLOUD, interpreting the romanticism of genuine sailing in a unique, up-to-date way. Enjoy upscale suites and staterooms, expansive decks, and many snug places to retreat.
94 guests (47 outside cabins) / 65 crew. Restaurant, lido deck with bar, lounge with Steinway piano, library, boutique, fitness area, massage and spa space, swim platform. Total sail area approx. 29,000 sq ft. (23 sails, 3 masts)
SEA CLOUD SPIRIT
The modern lifestyle ship among our fleet combines the flair of a fully-rigged sailing yacht with the comfort of a luxury cruise, from the light-filled balcony suites and staterooms to the boutique, gym, and spa with sauna and steam bath.
136 guests (69 outside cabins) / 85 crew. Restaurant, lido bar and bistro, lounge with Steinway piano, library, boutique, wellness and spa space, fitness area with ocean view, swim platform. Total sail area approx. 44,100 sq ft (28 sails, 3 masts)
SEA CLOUD
OLD WORLD GLAMOUR
An affluent history permeates throughout this special fleet beginning with its leader, the original SEA CLOUD. Her story starts in the upper echelon of 1931 society, when Marjorie Merriweather Post and her husband, Edward F. Hutton, commissioned a grand four-masted barque. It would be the largest private sailing yacht in the world at the time, and served as a sophisticated stage for their extravagant life hosting nobility, dignitaries, and celebrities.
Throughout the next nine decades, SEA CLOUD, would live many lives under various names, until 1979 when she was rescued and meticulously restored. Today, she radiates the glamour of Merriweather Post’s impeccable tastes for an intimate handful of guests. With original suites and classic sailing decks, she leads the fleet as one of only a few passenger ships hand-rigged without electronic controls.
With her 95th birthday approaching in 2026, this grand dame will head to dry-dock in October 2025 to get pampered and revamped for the momentous occasion, marked with celebratory farewell sailings.
DISTINCTIVE DETAILS
The SEA CLOUD combines opulent charm with the thrill of an authentic windjammer — even the masts are made of wood rather than aluminum. Italian marble fireplaces, French antiques, an oak-paneled dining room, golden swan bath fixtures, gleaming brass, and parquet wood exemplify the splendor aboard. Guests quickly find a favorite space, from the lido bar for alfresco lunch and sunset cocktails and the open-air blue lagoon to the leisure lounge for expert lectures, the common areas add to its historic allure.
The SEA CLOUD offers an intimate sailing experience with only 32 suites and staterooms, creating an ambiance with the feel of a private yacht. Eight of the original suites have been carefully restored to their original glamour, including Merriweather’s, Hutton’s, and their daughter Dina Merrill’s. The rest pamper guests with modern amenities in a contemporary ambiance of light and warm woods.
SEA CLOUD II
TIMELESS ROMANCE
With its own prestigious personality, the SEA CLOUD II marries the modern luxuries of a private yacht with the classic romance of a tall sailing ship. Built in 2001 with the maritime family resemblance of the original SEA CLOUD, this second generation welcomes up to 94 guests with expansive spaces to unwind and reset, exclusive outside staterooms, and pampering from a 65-member crew waiting to tend to every whim — all of which earned it a Berlitz five-star rating.
DISTINCTIVE DETAILS
Detailed with refined style, every area on board the SEA CLOUD II evokes the luxury of leisure time. Across four expansive decks, there’s plenty of space to linger at the lido bar and bistro, relax in the lounge with the sounds of a Steinway, or unwind in the elegant lightfilled library. Get physical in the fitness room, active on the swim platform, or massaged in the spa. The upscale restaurant features fullservice fine dining where guests come together for one sophisticated sitting.
This exclusive home on the high seas comes with 47 plush suites and deluxe staterooms. With artful interiors, marble bathrooms and small sitting areas, these retreats pamper with comfort and spaciousness.
SEA CLOUD SPIRIT
MODERN LUXURY
Ranked among best luxury passenger ships in the world, the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT redefines the elite experience of being on board and close to the sea. Her design was guided by that of the original SEA CLOUD, with the addition of 21st century technologies that modernized the fleet in 2021. The newest and largest of the SEA CLOUDS welcomes up to 136 guests, with plenty of space to let your spirit soar and explore. This authentic three-mast ship with 28 sails hoisted by hand is flooded with light, state-of-the-art luxuries, and ultimate relaxation.
DISTINCTIVE DETAILS
With its generous sun deck, fine-dining restaurant, lido deck amenities and lounge with a Steinway grand piano, the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT offers ample space to unwind from the daily grind and harmonize with the rhythms of the sea. A gym with panoramic ocean views and the exclusive spa & wellness area with sauna, steam bath and choice of cosmetic treatments round out the experience, transforming the sailing voyage into pure pampering.
The suite retreats are designed to experience sailing more intensely and exclusively, right from the balcony. Sail in the nautical splendor of expansive living and sleeping spaces with fine furnishings, finishes, and golden fixtures.
The spacious outside rooms are stylish sanctuaries at sea. Almost half of the 69 accommodation options have balconies or opening windows to take in the ocean more intensely and exclusively. Fine furnishings and upscale interiors characterize the deluxe and superior staterooms.
Harmony OF SAILING SUSTAINABLY
Be one of the few to experience the thrill of an authentic sailing adventure. As one of the only luxury fleets to still hoist the sails by hand, we relish every opportunity to synchronize with the wind, the sea, and the endless horizon, in harmony with nature’s rhythm. On the three windjammers, the sailors scale upwards of 190 feet into the shrouds, release the heavy cloth, then vigorously tighten the ropes down on deck. There are no buttons can simply be pressed. It takes almost a full hour until all sails catch the wind. This time-honored tradition uses full wind power for 30 to 50 percent of any given sailing. When not riding the winds, the ships are powered by diesel-electric engines with lowsulfur marine diesel fuel. This kind of gentle tourism is as much a part of the SEA CLOUD Difference as our elite itineraries.
Our bijoux ships sail to affluent destinations and boutique ports off the beaten path, steering away from large cruise crowds. From the Caribbean and Central America to the Med, Morocco, Portugal, and more, every itinerary is hand selected and special, with the principles of smaller, sustainable tourism charting our course. It’s been that way for more than 40 years, both on the water and in our premier ports of call. Experiencing local cultures while creating added value in the areas we visit are paramount to our purpose, ensuring the impact we leave is on beautiful memories alone.
LuxuryLIFE ONBOARD
Days aboard the SEA CLOUDS are exhilarating and exclusive, with the ocean always in reach. Be on deck when our crew scales the shrouds to release the sails — it’s one of the most thrilling parts of vacation aboard our authentic tall ships. Get deeper insights into the workings of a premier tall ship firsthand from your First Officer, and on long crossings, learn from classes with the captain. In addition to seeing the sails unfurl, our smaller ships mean greater possibilities, like pausing for an ocean dip, a quick trip on the zodiac, beach barbecues in secluded bays, and exclusive photo safaris.
Beyond classic sailing, the luxury of leisure time often includes renowned experts joining onboard to entertain and educate. Get holistically fit on a wellness-themed voyage, or wine and dine with perfect pairings on a culinary journey. In January, when SEA CLOUD SPIRIT homeports in San Juan, look for a guest chef series featuring famed and award-winning gourmands on each of the four sailings. Wilo Benet, Julie Carrión, Francis Guzman, and Mario Pagan will host culinary voyages through the Caribbean when they join onboard for six- to eight-night sailings. Read more about each of their epicurean journeys on page 112.
Or feed your intellect with astronomy events as well as lectures with literary giants like New York Times bestselling author Les Standiford (page 126), eco experts like Stephen Weston (page 126), and museum curators such as Dr. Wilfried Zeisler (page 116). He leads the famed Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, which was founded by Marjorie Merriweather Post, original owner of SEA CLOUD. Dr. Zeisler sails with us in February to mark the museum’s 2025 special exhibition opening dedicated to the SEA CLOUD.
Five Star AMENITIES
Detailed with refined style, every area on board the SEA CLOUDS evokes the luxury of leisure time. And when you want to get away from it all, you’ll need some space — for your mind and your sun chair. Across expansive decks, there are plenty of places to reset and refresh.
Don’t miss the chance to pamper yourself with a spa day at sea on SEA CLOUD SPIRIT. From deep tissue massages to hot stone therapies, a steam bath to Finnish sauna detox, and cosmetic treatments with high-end products, our self-care menu transforms the sailing voyage into pure indulgence. Round out your wellness getting physical in the fitness room and active with adventures found on the swim platform. And when it’s time for fine dining, the upscale restaurant features full service, where guests come together for one sophisticated seating.

OUR
De inations
Experience a world of exclusivity sailing to the world’s most prestigious places. In addition to stopping at beloved destinations and famous sites, we call on smaller, boutique ports far off the common course. The SEA CLOUDS steer away from the mainstream to upscale coasts, where local charm greets our discerning guests, devoid of crowds.
THE Caribbean
The steady breezes of the winter trade winds make perfect conditions for Caribbean sailing adventures. Yacht to premier ports not meant for the masses and experience a rainbow of color from rainforest to reef. Dive the shipwrecks, stand under waterfalls, shop the boutiques, or relax and enjoy the rhythm of island life. The Caribbean is calling with luxury sailings to her most upscale islands, including St. Barths, Îles des Saintes, and our feature January port of San Juan. Plus overnights in distinctions destinations like Gustavia, Virgin Gorda, and Norman Island.
Mexico & CENTRAL AMERICA
From the Panama Canal and mystical Mayan ruins to the pure relaxation of the Pacific Coast, embrace the pura vida of life on a luxury sailing vacation. In Panama, there’s no better way to pass through the grand locks than aboard an authentic tall ship. Sail to the San Blas islands and to the vibrant metropolis of Panama City. Snorkel both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans before charting north to Costa Rica’s nature reserves and national parks. Our onboard ecotourism expert will join some sailings to make sure you don’t miss a thing, including the overnight in the Mayan capital of Chichén Itzá.
USA & Bahamas
Sail out of Miami with champagne at sunset on your way to exclusive Bahamian islands that call to A-listers looking for privacy. Away from the hustle and bustle of the mainstream, the Exumas and Eleuthera are hidden gems enticing travelers with untouched beaches, clear shallow waters, and extraordinary coral gardens. Divers, snorkelers, and beachcombers find their favorite spots among these secluded islands, which can only be reached by yacht or tender. On the return, embrace the dichotomy of the Sunshine State with a walk on the quirky side in Hemingway’s Key West.
Atlantic CROSSING
Sailing across the Atlantic on a classic route is the ultimate windjammer discipline, and for many, a lifelong dream. The SEA CLOUDS become the destination on the weeks’ long journeys between the Canary Islands and Caribbean, riding the winter trade winds. The modern luxury of our sailing yachts first sets a course southward where, at the height of the Cape Verde Islands, the winds fill the sails. Then the voyage turns westward; every nautical mile taking you a closer to summer. For nearly two weeks, the SEA CLOUDS enjoy optimal conditions and frequently run under sail even overnight.
Canary ISLANDS, MOROCCO
AND PORTUGAL
From sunny days on the famous beaches of Spain to magical nights in Morocco, see it all in spring or fall. Unique Old Towns mix with modern city flair along these coasts. In the Canary Islands, landscapes range from desert to forest, with the Teide volcano in Tenerife as the highest peak. Traverse its craters and lava rivers, explore Garajonay’s cloud forest, La Palma’s Teneguía, and El Hierro’s slice of tranquility. In Portugal, don’t miss the most beautiful approach to Lisbon with our passage up the Tagus River.
Ea ern & WESTERN
MEDITERRANEAN
In the south of Europe, savor French wine and caviar on the Côte d’Azur, then admire art and architecture along the Costa Brava. Eat paella in Valencia, dance flamenco in Andalusia, and shop the sophisticated streets of Mallorca. The western part of the region offers a rich tapestry of cultures, and includes highend stops at St. Tropez, Monte Carlo, and all around Corsica.
ITALY, CROATIA & GREECE
Sail east to discover Italian treasures, Greek antiquities, and baroque Adriatic splendor. Compare the red roofs of Dubrovnik to the royal blues of Greece. Circumnavigate Sicily, lined with hideaway bays and the majesty of Mount Etna. A seamless blend of ancient history and modern culture defines these storied shores, and each destination along the way offers its own unique attractions.

SEA CLOUD SUITES & STATEROOMS
CAT. A OWNERS‘ SUITE 1
Like all of the original accommodations, Marjorie Merriweather Post furnished the owners‘ suites herself. Whenever she traveled aboard the SEA CLOUD, these posh, private quarters were her home, so she outfitted them in opulence. Today, her personal owners‘ suite maintains her exquisite touch with white Carrara marble in the fireplace and bathroom, gold-plated swan fixtures, Louis Philippe chairs, an elaborate floor-to-ceiling dressing mirror and ornate golden-trimmed ceilings. The high-end design and furnishings reflect the successful entrepreneur‘s penchant for luxuriating on this private yacht in ultimate comfort.
CAT. B DELUXE SUITE 3
The hospitality Marjorie cultivated still characterizes a stay on board the SEA CLOUD today. The original colonial style of this deluxe suite continues to welcome guests with the posh comforts and ambiance of a private yacht. Renowned nobility, celebrities and industry titans have all called these deluxe suites home on legendary sailings.
Marjorie frequently mentioned her goal of making family, friends and notable guests feel at home every minute on board the SEA CLOUD. Accordingly, she designed spaces like this deluxe suite to feel like the ultimate in comfort, five-star accommodations. Antique mahogany chests of drawers, marble in the bathroom and by the fireplace and unique pieces create cozy elegance.
Approx. 38 m2/410 sq. ft.
• Marble bathroom approx. 9 m2/97 sq. ft. with shower bath and golden fixtures
• Dressing
In addition to her exquisite taste, Marjorie‘s attention to detail is also on display in the owners‘ suites, richly reflected in the chambers of her first husband Edward Hutton, who gifted her the majestic SEA CLOUD sailing yacht. The maple wood paneling and furnishings create a feeling of warmth and solidity offset by a light, coffered ceiling. Hutton‘s bureau-bookcase secretary with mirrored glass is a particularly stunning piece. In contrast to her white bath, his is done in red Carrara marble and includes a chest of drawers and golden fixtures.
Throughout the commissioned construction of the SEA CLOUD in Kiel, Germany, and later when Marjorie was already living on board, she collected precious antiques from all over the world. This deluxe suite is one of the many examples of how skillfully she integrated the valuable pieces into the interior, and thus, into the overall appearance and ambiance of her private luxury yacht.
Every voyage on the SEA CLOUD is also a journey through time. In all original cabins, as well as in this de luxe cabin, you will feel taken back to the time of the elegant world exploration of the 1930s. The selected antique mahogany furniture is small and exquisite. The color selection of the fabrics gives the room an extremely warm, sunny and light atmosphere. Special features: walk-in closet, electric fireplace.
CAT. B DELUXE SUITE 7
As the SEA CLOUD‘s original owner, Marjorie designed the interiors of her luxury sailing yacht with such attention to detail because she wanted to offer her daughter, Dina Merrill, a wonderful and safe home on board. This is especially noticeable in this deluxe suite where Dina spent a large part of her childhood. The warm maple finishings stand out with dramatic mahogany inlays. The unusual floor plan, including an angled fireplace makes the space feel even larger.
Deluxe Suites 9 and 10 are also part of the original accommodations on the main deck. Once used as single cabins for the former shipowners’ staff and their guests, they were redesigned into large luxury lodgings during renovation of the SEA CLOUD.
Like all staterooms on the captain’s and lido deck, these two were built as recently as the late 1970s and offer all the comforts of private yacht accommodations. Panoramic windows cornering the head of the bed create a bright, airy vibe with views to match.
STATEROOMS
Approx. 24 m2/258 sq. ft.
• Marble bathroom approx. 7 m2/75
CAT. B DELUXE SUITE 8
The main deck, where the original suites are located, is the heart and soul of the SEA CLOUD. This deluxe suite envelopes guests in its spirit of an exclusive private yacht. It is on display in the all the details, from fixtures to furnishings to finishings, complemented with a regal red and coral palette. Built-in cabinetry creates extra space.
The design of Deluxe Suites 9 and 10 is based on historical models with a modern aesthetic in warm fabrics and light wood tones. Both suites are located at the end of the original hallway and connect to the promenade deck by a separate staircase.
CAT. 2 STATEROOMS
Even though the staterooms on the captain’s and lido deck were harmoniously integrated into the SEA CLOUD after her initial construction, they still follow the design standards set on the original. Their tasteful interiors are a contemporary interpretation of Marjorie‘s aesthetic from the 1930s. The elevated comfort of the spaces are complemented by spectacular sea views from double windows.
These plush staterooms have a special maritime charm due to their location between the stations for hoisting and lowering the sails. The deckhouse, which was added during the renovation of the SEA CLOUD, is an oasis of peace, and due to its location on the promenade deck, the staterooms are also only steps away from the restaurant and lounge.
STATEROOMS
In addition to the luxurious comfort that defines the SEA CLOUD, both of these staterooms offer a special feature: direct access to the most charming place on the tall ship, the Blue Lagoon. The semi-circular, blue-cushioned space is the traditional onboard area for relaxing under the daytime sun or dreamy night views of starry skies twinkling off the ocean.
STATEROOMS
These special staterooms were made for sailing enthusiasts. In Marjorie‘s time, these were accommodations for SEA CLOUD officers, thus, the vibe is authentically nautical. The best part, which is exclusive to these staterooms, is direct access to the promenade deck, directly below the bridge. Open the door to breathe in the salty sea air and experience the charming maritime ambience.

What is so fascinating about a transatlantic voyage?
Say goodbye to everyday stress: On an Atlantic crossing you alone set the pace. Whether you want to sleep in or greet the sunrise early on deck, whether you want to relax or be active, only you decide depending on your mood. Even though the SEA CLOUD II is a genuine windjammer, first and foremost her focus lies on providing pure comfort throughout your voyage.
With her spacious decks and tastefully furnished suites and staterooms, she offers plenty of room for seclusion. You want to browse in the library? Work out in the fitness area? Talk shop with our lecturers? There is never a dull moment. And a true highlight is the Atlantic christening ceremony with a visit from Neptune himself.

HILLWOOD ESTATE, MUSEUM & GARDENS
SEA CLOUD CRUISES USA has partnered with the historic Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, founded by our own Marjorie Merriweather Post. As the original owner of the SEA CLOUD luxury sailing yacht, this is a pairing that makes perfect sense.
Five miles from downtown Washington DC, the 25-acre estate welcomes worldwide visitors to Merriweather Post’s former residence, a pristine mansion where its large decorative arts collection spotlights the House of Romanov, including two Fabergé eggs. French art, one of the country’s best orchid collections, and a Merriweather Café are just the start of all that awaits here.
Merging synergies to honor Post’s living legend of a ship and her 90+ year history, Hillwood is hosting a special exhibition dedicated to the original SEA CLOUD opening February 15, 2025. In preparation for such an historic event, curator Thomas Wu cataloged artifacts and reviewed ship documents while aboard SEA CLOUD for a Mediterranean sailing that took place July 19th through 29th, where he also engaged guests with a special onboard presentation.
Caribbean Sailing with Hillwood’s Curator
Marking the 2025 exhibition opening, deputy director and chief curator, Dr Wilfried Zeisler, will join guests aboard SEA CLOUD SPIRIT on February 1st for a nine-night voyage from St. Maarten to Curaçao. While aboard the fleet’s newest and largest ship, inspired by Post’s original floating palace, he will provide a preview of the exciting SEA CLOUD exhibition.

Worth Knowing:
Costa Rica’s lush nature is especially intensive when approached with a dash of adventure and discovery. As there are often no harbors with fixed piers on the pristine coasts, we land with our inflatable motorboats (zodiacs). It’s worth getting up early for our excursions, because birds, monkeys and other animals are most active at sunrise and in the morning.

VERANDA SUITES
The SEA CLOUD SPIRIT carries the spirit of our legendary flagship into a new era. One of the many places this is reflected is in the upscale ambience of the three suites on the veranda deck. The regal interior design combines with the spaciousness of the rooms to create sophisticated retreats. The feeling of being at the center of an endless ocean expanse is magnified by large windows framing the majestic views. Experiencing the sea is meant literally here — on the large balcony, sailing becomes a special pleasure. The marble bathroom in cabin 317 has a jacuzzi bath with shower and cabin 318 has a bath and separate shower. Both have golden fixtures.

Your ship’s Cruise Director will provide more information during your sailing. Space is limited and we highly recommend pre-booking your excursions. Charges will be added to your onboard suite/ stateroom account. Please remember to bring comfortable shoes, a light jacket or windbreaker, and sunscreen where appropriate.
In addition to these organized excursions, you are welcome to explore the premier ports we sail to individually. Please make sure to get back on time in accordance with our tender service.
