Every day from 1st December a new ‘window’ will be opened in a house or garden in a prominent position that can be viewed from a pavement. This will culminate on the 24th December with a crib scene in St Peter’s Churchyard.

Advent calendar organiser Lucy Stuart said ‘Last Christmas was a very difficult time for many people, and I know I was greatly cheered by Norton and Bishopstone’s living advent calendar, and I thought, why not bring this wonderful idea to East Blatchington and St Peter’s this year. The Rev’d Arwen Folkes, rector of St Peters and Bishopstone, was in agreement and everyone has been incredibly supportive.’ The Rev’d Arwen said: ‘We don’t yet know whether Christmas will be subject to restrictions, but learned last year that providing outdoor adventures is not only safe, but great fun! I am so looking forward to seeing the windows pop up and encourage others to follow the trail as it unfolds.’

The houses taking part are on Blatchington Hill, Chapel Close, and houses on Belgrave and Firle Road near to the church. A plan will be made available in St Peter’s Church, which is open to the public every day.

All windows will be on display until 6th January (Epiphany). We hope Christmas lovers big and small will have great fun finding them all.
