Concentus Singing In Summer?
by Fran Tegg
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
It really is going to happen this time! The Choir has been rehearsing since the beginning of January at their new venue at Willingdon Community School, carefully observing all of the COVID regulations and Hallelujah – arriving now with all restrictions lifted. Concentus’ spacious rehearsal facilities allow for generous spacing, lofty ceilings for a plenteous air volume, and a whole wall of windows and doors which open to outside fresh air. Members can wear masks if they so wish, and rehearsals are still going out on Zoom for the more vulnerable to participate from their own homes. Rehearsals are going very well and the choir will be more than ready to offer you their renowned polished performances in June. Lesley Garrett Charity Concert: Before

then they will have performed, by invitation, at Lesley’s April concert at the Hippodrome in Eastbourne – an occasion much enjoyed by the choir and the usually packed audience. Ukraine: Concentus known as the ‘Choir with Heart, the Friendly Choir’, and understanding how powerfully healing singing is, extends an open invitation to adult Ukrainians local to the area to come and sing with the choir on rehearsal evenings – no fees charged. A member of host families is also included in this offer. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings from 7.15pm to 9.30pm at Willingdon Community School, Broad Road, Willingdon, Eastbourne, BN20 9QX. A warm welcome awaits. For more information contact info@ concentus-sings.com, or ring Louise on 07799 116653. The Summer Concert: Concentus is offering a very varied concert, with music to suit most tastes, polished to professional perfection and including soloists drawn from within this talented choir. You will hear pieces from ‘Carousel’ and ‘Jesus Christ Super Star; familiar songs from ‘The Greatest Showman’; the well-loved favourite ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’; and a selection of songs from ’The Merry Widow’. You will also hear music by Verdi and Carl Orff. There are solos in several pieces – all sung by skilful singers from the choir. You will have to come and listen in June to see what else is on offer! Concentus’ Charity: Concentus has always supported local charities, raising money through retiring collections at concerts, singing at charity functions, their annual carol singing etc, enabling them to contribute thousands of pounds to several charities over the years. Their current charity is the Children with Cancer Fund which is based in Willingdon. Concert details:
