Transportation As leading railway infrastructure service providers we play an important role in the design and operation of the UK rail network. Our teams deliver consultancy, design and construction services through the entire project life cycle, from feasibility studies and business cases to design to site and contract management, including participation in design and build partnerships. Our expertise includes railway operations and maintenance, electrification design, civils and infrastructure, modular railway structures, and other vital aspects of railway engineering.
Construction Because of our partnership between design engineering, offsite manufacture and construction, Tata Steel Projects is at the forefront of modular and offsite construction. Defence and Security Tata Steel provides specialist solutions for defence and security applications to protect people and critical infrastructure assets, including the design, installation and project management of robust physical security measures to protect against incidents both accidental and deliberate. Our expertise in Defence and Security includes Operations and Maintenance, Survey, Multi-disciplinary Design and Environmental Services, Manufacturing and Project Delivery including Principal Contracting. Energy and Power Tata Steel Projects has demonstrated its expertise in the planning, design and construction of several types of renewable energy facilities including energy from waste, wind power, biomass, solar and marine/tidal. We have designed and constructed some of the most advanced energy from waste plants in the UK, including Suffolk, Leeds, Oxfordshire and Staffordshire. We are the leading manufacturer of offshore wind turbine monopiles, and are at the forefront of design and construction of tethered offshore wind turbines
Industrial Production Tata Steel Projects provide bespoke design and fabrication for both new build and refurbishment projects. We design and manufacture a wide range of castings, components and assemblies, as well as manage the construction of major items of plant and machinery. Our manufacturing plant at Workington has substantial experience refurbishing and repairing small components, assemblies and major plant, equipment and machinery.
Steel Fabrication Tata Steel Projects provides engineering expertise in continuous casting and copper production for steel manufacturing plants. We offer design and consulting services backed up with in-house continuous casting and copper manufacture at our Workington plant. Our team can review and investigate production problems and follow up with development and implementation of design solutions. We can also help to upgrade and improve manufacturing facilities and to design modifications and enhancements to improve quality, enhance efficiency, comply with regulations, or increase casting speed. We can also assist with refurbishment of components of casting machines.Our copper foundry designs and manufactures copper components for steel manufacturing plants as well as the Royal Mint.
Nuclear We have a long standing history of supplying nuclear waste transport and spent fuel flasks and are actively involved in producing effective solutions that improve processes, using value engineering and the latest technology. Projects have typically involved design, manufacture, testing and commissioning of waste storage, handling and decommissioning equipment, shield doors and gamma gates to industry quality standards. We also offer a fully comprehensive test rig facility providing a design, construction, operation and testing service. We are a member of the Nuclear Institute and the Nuclear Industry Association. Tata Steel is a founder and tier 1 member of the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (NAMRC).
