Residents' Fury At Sale Of Church Land To Aldi The decision of a Swords parish to sell land to Aldi Supermarket chain is set to cause uproar among residents living in the
By Patrick Finnegan vicinity. St. Colmcille's parish, which encompasses the town centre and environs, decided to dispose of land on Seatown Road. This parcel of waste land will be very familiar to motorists who use this road to access the motorway from the town centre. The road is also home to three schools and is already one of the busiest roads in the town. The site is 1.57 acres in size and the offer is subject to Aldi obtaining planning permission for the construction of a retail store and 92 surface car parking spaces. "The offer has been considered and accepted by the Parish Pastoral Council and the PPC
considers that the offer affords us the opportunity to pay off our current overdraft of €1.3m," was the reason offered by the parish. It is conditional upon Aldi obtaining planning approval for the construction of the retail store. If planning permission is not granted the sale of the site does not go ahead. The Parish Pastoral Council considers this to be a very good opportunity for the Parish to develop a much needed facility and at the same time remove the current burden of debt. However, residents in nearby Seatown Villas, the oldest estate in Swords are up in arms about the decision to sell. Patty and Johnny Fitzsimons condemned the move in the strongest possible terms, Patti told the County Leader, "It's too ridiculous for words. Continued on page 28

Award For Portmarnock Photographer A Portmarnock photojournalist has been awarded funding under a prestigious media fund, run by Irish Aid, the Government’s programme of assistance to developing countries. Kim Haughton from Portmarnock, an award winning photojournalist and documentary film maker, will receive funding under the Simon Cumbers Media Fund to document on the feasibility of biofuels and their impact on food security in the developing world. The Simon Cumbers Media Fund was established by Irish Aid in memory of Irish journalist Simon Cumbers, who was killed in Saudi Arabia while working with the BBC in 2004. The aim of the Fund is to broaden and deepen coverage of global development issues in the Irish media. Under the fund, journalists are invited to submit proposals for coverage of a development issue, which will involve travel to a developing country. As one of the successful applicants, Ms. Haughton will travel to Sub Saharan Africa to produce a newspaper feature article for the SundayTribune on the impact industrial biofuels – fuels made on an industrial scale from agricultural crops – have on food crops as they drive food prices up in countries were people struggle to meet their daily food needs.

Swords Sisters Top Of The Class Congratulations must go to the three members of the Munroe family, who, after some years of training in Swords Karate club (Hokubudojo) , have all attained their Black Belts. The girls, Stephanie 18 , Laura 16 and Katie 11 have been training for around six years in Shotokan Karate. They never missed training and are always the first to arrive, regardless of the weather. Reaching black belt level is an incredible achievement for anyone, but to have three members from one family is quite u n u s u a l . Instructor, Dermot O’Keeffe says, “All

Overgrown Roundabouts Create Driving Hazard
It appears that the County Council’s Growing Places initiative, which set about leaving large areas of residential open space uncut, has been
By Patrick Finnegan transferred to the area’s roundabouts. The policy of planting wild flowers on roundabouts is all very fine, but what about the safety implications.? A case in point is the Seatown Road roundabout, where visibility of on-coming traffic already on the roundabout is very restricted and is clearly a hazard to safe driving. The County Leader was contacted by a number of irate motorists, complaining about restricted visibility. Whilst the wild flowers give a rush of lovely colours, it seems that they need to be taken in charge and the height must be restricted. To compound matters further, a triangle of uncut meadow, in front of the roundabout ensures that your visibility is really limited. Having visited

the area, it is the opinion of this reporter and motorist, that this is no longer a safe junction and action needs to be taken in charge by the local authority to ensure that all of the roundabouts in the region are safe for our motorists.
Disappointment As Swords Branded ‘Moderately Littered’ Deputy Michael Kennedy (FF) has expressed his disappointment to see Swords being listed as ‘moderately littered’ in the latest survey from Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL). He has endorsed the group’s Litter Twitter campaign in an effort to ensure Ireland’s litter problems can be resolved. “This is the first time since 2007 that Swords has been branded as moderately littered. Since then the town has enjoyed the status of ‘litter free’. I know Swords Tidy Towns Committee and businesses around the town will be disappointed to hear this news and I think the community will now redouble the efforts needed to regain ‘litter free’ status,” said Kennedy. “I welcome the publication of the IBAL survey. I believe the survey is very important and I hope Swords will again make good progress in tackling the problem of litter. I
also support IBAL’s Litter Twitter campaign which is an imaginative idea and enable the County Council to
Michael Kennedy TD be alerted to areas that are suffering from litter. As Vice chairman of the Joint Committee on Arts, Sports and Tourism, I know the impact litter can have on the economy of a town like Swords, particularly when it comes to trying to attract
visitors. I believe litter is totally unnecessary and utterly unacceptable,” he concluded. An Taisce's remarks about Swords were, “Much of Swords is good. There were six sites surveyed in Swords which were Clean to European Norms including, Main Street, a couple of the approach routes and Swords Town Park, all of which were excellent - well done. However, the two very heavily littered sites brought down the overall ranking. Recycle Facility beside the Council's. Environmental and Housing Maintenance Department was in a terrible state - hardly conducive to recycling. The second, even worse site, was a neglected space within the Industrial Area which has been used as a dumping ground and ignored by those responsible - there was little change since this was last included in IBAL Anti-Litter Survey,” the report concluded.

A large group of people and their pooches turned out to support the Balbriggan Branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind in Ardgillan Castle on Sunday 22nd August last. They took part in a Dog Walk to raise much needed funds for the charity. Supporters from near and far took part in a leisurely 3 kilometre stroll around the scenic Castle grounds, ending back at the popular Guide Dogs merchandise stall behind the Castle’s Coffee Shop, where certificates of completion were awarded and five lucky people who won fantastic raffle prizes kindly donated by our various sponsors. Sonya and David Sands, branch volunteers, would like to thank everybody who helped out on the day and all those who showed their support and helped to raise a grand total of €1,151.50, all of which goes to Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, a National Charity dedicated to helping persons who are blind or vision impaired or families of children with autism to achieve improved mobility and independence.

New Classrooms For Balscadden Deputy Darragh O’Brien (FF) has secured a commitment from the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills, Mary Coughlan for the essential building of new classrooms at Scoil Bhionnáin Naofa, also known as Balscadden National School O’Brien said, “This is fantastic news for Scoil Bhionnáin Naofa. Under the funding approved by the Tánaiste, the school will have prefabs replaced with two 80 square metre mainstream classrooms. The construction of a 16 square metre learning support classroom has also been approved.” . He continued, “This is essential work for the school and I’m delighted the Tánaiste has responded very positively to representations I have made on behalf of Scoil Bhionnáin Naofa and facilitated the funding. The Building Unit of the Department of Education and Skills will be in contact with the school shortly regarding this important development. I am very happy for the staff and parents of students at the school. They have worked very hard to secure these new buildings which will greatly enhance the learning environment for students,” he concluded.
Rush Lady Busy As a Bee Tracy Healy from Rush was one of four novice beekeepers, one from each province, who were recently presented with starter kits to get 200,000 bees back into Ireland in a joint initiative between Innocent smoothies and the Federation of Irish Beekeepers. Mr. Ciarán Cuffe, T.D., Minister for State with special responsibility for Sustainable Transport, Horticulture, Planning and Heritage presented Tracy, the Leinster winner and the others with the beekeeping equipment and hives to get them started. Philip McCabe, Federation of Irish Beekeepers, comments, “We are delighted to partner with Innocent on this project to introduce 200,000 bees back into Ireland. Our native black honeybee is in serious decline due to parasites, weather and the destruction of our countryside. We beekeepers are determined to protect one of the greatest pollinators which is so necessary for the survival of us all. I call on the people of Ireland to plant seeds suitable for our honeybees to survive and thrive,” he said.

Chamber Choir Resumes In Balbriggan So your vocal chords have had the summer off. Now its time for some serious singing. Fingal Chamber Choir resumed rehearsals on Monday last, September 6th at 7.30pm in St. George's National School, Balbriggan. New members are very welcome. All prospective members are auditioned.

The sun was high in the sky as the harvest day began, and Skerries Mill manager Ray Hunt told the County Leader just how this ancient machinery was still working. “The Ransom Threshing Mill was originally built by J. windmill itself, which was in full rotation, was open to the public on Threshing Day, and the full cycle of grain production could be seen.“It was dangerous work, and the mill was very high maintenance”,
he said, “we’ll probably be cleaning up for a week after today!” The mill, which first opened in 1915, closed in 1986 after a fire destroyed the inner bakery, but re-opened to the public in June 1999
after being restored by F.Á.S. and the County Council. “The success of Vintage Threshing Day is dependent on the weather, and we couldn’t have gotten a better day for it”, Hunt concluded.

New Railing Launched At Balrothery Union Graveyard Recently, a railing was erected around the Celtic Cross at Balrothery Union graveyard, near Lusk. Well known Lusk resident, Nina Flynn has been the driving force behind this venture, which was launched by local TD, Darragh O’Brien to coincide with Lusk Heritage Week. The upkeep of the graveyard has been of great interest to Nina for many years, and she set about its upkeep some years ago. Mass is celebrated each year for the people buried here, in St. Macullin’s Church in Lusk. The cross was cleaned last year and a stone put inside the railing to make it look presentable and the plaque was sponsored last year by Lusk Tidy Towns. “Unfortunately, cattle and sheep were congregating around the cross and spoiling it, so I decided to collect money and we erected the railing, with the help of the local community, who were marvellous in their response,” said Nina. “A special thank you is due to deputy Darragh O’Brien TD, who was a tremendous help and support to me all along and to everyone who made this possible, and also to Pat Kelly of the Tidy Towns committee who looked after the finances for the venture. It will be there for years to come and will be part of history,” concluded Nina.
Waste Management (Food Waste) Regulations 2009 Source separation of food waste from commercial premises In December 2009, John Gormley, Minister for the Environment, Heritage & Local Government published the Food Waste Regulations (SI 508 of 2009) heralding national legislation for the source separation of food waste from commercial premises which came into effect on the 1st July, 2010.

These Regulations are designed to promote the segregation and recovery of food waste arising in the commercial sector. They will facilitate in particular the achievement of the targets set out in Directive 99/31/EC on the landfill of waste, for the diversion of biodegradable municipal waste (BMW) from landfill sites to composting and anaerobic digestion plants and to other forms of biological treatment. The Regulation also prohibits the disposal of source separated food waste into the residual collection service. The Regulations impose obligations on the major producers of food waste, such as State buildings where food is prepared, restaurants and cafés, hot food outlets, canteens, hotels and larger guest houses, supermarkets and other food retailers, to segregate these materials and make them available for separate collection service. Alternatively, these materials can be biologically treated (e.g. Composted) on the premises where they arise under specified conditions. There is an exemption for the first year of the Regulation for small businesses which produce less than 50kg of food waste per week. Rush Residents Fearful Of Eirgrid Project A public meeting was held in St. Joseph’s Secondary School in Rush on Wednesday last to highlight community opposition to the proposed East-West Interconnector. Around 250 people

Residents also fear the exposure of children to harmful electro-magnetic radiation, as the proposed route passes a number of schools and through the highly populated area of Kilbush. The Department of Energy recently issued a report on these types of cables, dubbing them as “unlike any other cable previously used in Ireland”, and advised for such cables to “avoid population centres”. The meeting was attended by local representatives, Trevor Sargent TD, Darragh O’Brien TD, Michael Kennedy TD and Cllr. Clare Daly. Kennedy explained to the Rush

EirGrid have followed all nine steps expected of them by An Bord Pleanála, and so are untouchable since the granting of planning permission to them. “The best option we have is to persuade EirGrid to reapply for planning permission with an amended route,” he said. The committee have indeed proposed to EirGrid that the interconnector be re-routed out at the North Beach, which is entirely possible and would ensure less risk for Rush residents. Trevor Sargent insisted that “while the Green Party is taking the matter seriously, they must be aware of the law. Unfortunately, the law is on Eirgrid’s side.” The decision was taken at the meeting to hold a

If you ahve run out of excuses for not dealing with a money matter, now is the time to deal with it. Play your cards skilfully and you could even turn the situation to your advantage and come away with some cash in hand. But you have to make it happen.
You will be less accomodating and more critical of the people with whom you live and work. Not your fault: certain people have had things their own way for far too long. But don’t go too far in the other direction and end up the villain of the piece.
You need to get out more. You need to spend time with people who share your wavelength and love a good gossip. Just don’t get too uninhibited and jeopardise a fledgling friendship which has the potential of blossoming into something long-lasting.

You have no shortage of brilliant ideas, but are not always all that good at putting them into practice. Now, however, with all your signs favourable, you will be able to prove that you can not only talk the talk but walk the walk.
Something relatively unimportant is likely to irritate you this week, and a few adjectives and nouns could fly. Fortunately, you are better than most at coming up with the ideal phrase or saying. Just don’t overdo it and end up a victim of your own genius. Signs warn you not to cross swords this week over a business or financial matter. Even if you are convinced that you are right you should seek a second opinion from an expert: one who is qualified and not so emotionally involved will have the right objective. Much as you like to be in control, what happens this week will upset all that. In fact, there is a strong chance that someone you encounter over the next few days will play a pivotal role in your life over the next few months – as a lover, muse or friend.
You seem to have been feeling particularly vulnerable just recently. Just keep in mind you are talented and popular, and stop worrying about things that may never happen and get on with doing what you do best – namely, living life to the full. This is a week for owning up to mistakes you have made in the past – you can expect a fair hearing and get off with little more than an admonishment. But don’t push your luck and get slap-happy in the future: you won’t get off this easy every time.
Make a wish and wait for it to happen seems to be this week’s message – especially when it comes to your career. But don’t take it too literally and think you can just lie back and let it come true. The more effort you put into it, the more you will get out.

Thomas Ashe Exhibition Launches In Lusk County Mayor, Ken Farrell, launched the Lusk Community Council Thomas Ashe Life & Times Exhibition in the Saint Macullin’s Centre, on Saturday 28th August. It will be open for five weekends on Saturdays and Sundays between 2pm and 5pm, until September 26th. The Community Council is running the exhibition to coincide with the Centenary celebrations of the Black Raven Pipe Band, which Ashe founded in conjunction with John Rooney and others in 1910. It includes some striking images of Ashe and the Black Raven Pipe Band, which will evoke proud memories
for many families in Lusk. While Ashe's role as a teacher in Corduff National School has always been well known, the exhibition highlights the dynamism of this young Kerryman who arrived in Corduff in 1908 and went on to play a key role locally in community organisations, but also at a national level in the Gaelic League and the Fingal Volunteers. Ashe commanded the only success of the 1916 Rising, The Battle of Ashbourne, in which many young men from the North County, especially Lusk, Swords and Skerries played their part. Ashe was lost to the nation on 25th September 1917,
when on hunger strike in Mountjoy Gaol. The exhibition poignantly traces the last days of his life, illustrated by documents from Mountjoy Gaol. It also maps
Ashe's all too short life, from growing up in Kinard, Co. Kerry, to his final resting place in Glasnevin Cemetery. Lusk Community Council has chosen a very special person for its first exhibition in Saint Macullin’s Centre, which will be of interest to the residents of Lusk and the

Donabate teenage motor racing sensation, Gary Thompson is taking the sport by storm. He raced to second in the tenth round of the Japanese Formula 3 Championship in Motegi recently and moved into second with three laps to go to score the biggest result since his graduation to Formula 3 this season. Following a run of five fourth place finishes in succession heading to the fifth double header event of the series, 18 year-old Thompson was determined to make the step up to the podium on his and the series’ second visit of the season to the Twin Ring Motegi circuit. Showing the
value of a punishing training programme in recent months, Thompson summoned the strength to chase the lead duo despite the close attentions of the fourth place driver and he was in position to close on erstwhile second place man. Afterwards, Thompson reflected on his best result of the year and the effort that went in to producing it. “That was really hard but very satisfying as I’ve been really tired all weekend but the boys did a great job getting the car prepared for race two and I really had something to fight for,” he said.

Reilly Calls On Government Deputies To Save Airport Jobs
Donabate man, Derek Lawless
Donabate man, Derek Lawless has criticised Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann bus stops, saying they are completely inaccessible for wheelchair users. Lawless, who is a former bus driver for Dublin Bus, said that some of the bus stops, which have been built several inches off the ground, do not have built in ramps and therefore have no possibility for wheelchair access. “These stops need adequate ramps built into the kerbs. Some of these bus stops are just big slabs of concrete with no wheelchair access whatsoever,” he said. He first noticed this issue at a bus stop outside Newbridge Farm on Hearse Road, and quickly brought it to the attention of the County Leader. “People using wheelchairs, with or without a carer, are effectively still standing on the road, which is not safe or adequate”, he added. He is no stranger to the social difficulties involved with special needs, as his 16-year-old son Liam was diagnosed with Autism at the age of three and Lawless continues to tackle these problems to improve his area. “Would it not make sense to have a ramp in the immediate vicinity of the bus stop, rather than up to sixty yards either side of the stop? This is simply about improving a system for people who are less fortunate, so that they can have access to the bus.” he concluded.
Deputy James Reilly (FG) has called on the the local government TD’s to do something to safeguard airport jobs, due to the departure tax, which was introduced some time ago. “I am calling on the two local Fianna Fail deputies and the Green Party deputy in this constituency to insist that the Government abolish this crazy anti job tax immediately and safeguard jobs in Aer Lingus, DAA and many other companies at the airport including the many hotels
in the area. He was speaking after the release of tourism figures which

are not encouraging. “The slowdown in the decline in tourism figures is welcome, but it is
shocking that halfway into 2010 there has been an overall drop of 700,000 overseas visitors. A six per cent drop in visitors is an improvement on the staggering 24 per cent fall off in tourists at the start of the summer, but it is worrying that the number of tourists continues to fall in the middle of the peak tourism season. He continued, “If properly managed and marketed, tourism represents one the chief

Autumn Programme of Classes In Malahide Malahide Community School Adult Education have released details of their courses for the Autumn term. Details of some 76 courses are contained in their brochure and can also be viewed on the school website at www.malahidecs.ie. This September there are 4 FETAC accredited courses available: Childcare, Health and Safety, Human Resource Management and Food Safety. Other accredited courses are also available from NUI Maynooth, National College of Ireland, IPASS, Irish Academy of Public Relations, ECDL and Adobe. The Wednesday schedule of classes continues to expand and classes are on offer on Wednesday afternoon and night. Also included in the programme is a series of Pre-college courses. After a four year freeze on course fees we have had to make an increase of â‚Ź10 on our basic fee of â‚Ź100. This has been necessary to ensure that the programme is self-financing. Robbie Harrold, Chairman of NACED, said, “I warmly welcome the alleviation of the moratorium on filling of Posts of Responsibility Circular from the TĂĄnaiste and Minister for Education and Skills Mary Coughlan. The circular outlines that if a Director of Adult Education retires or resigns in a school the post will be replaced. It makes a great deal of sense from the social cohesion viewpoint for our schools to be able to provide cost effective courses which enhance the employability of adults in a time of recession and growing unemployment.

Skerries Sea Scouts Invigorating Summer Camp Lazy summer days don't seem to exist in Between Friday 6th and Tuesday 10th Skerries, as local Sea Scout troop, August, 22 scouts and seven leaders Rockabill, recently undertook a 50 kilo- undertook the mammoth walk. The first day saw the troop hike from By Rob O’Hanrahan Kilmashogue to Knockree, a total of metre hike that took them across the roughly seventeen kilometres, where they Dublin-Wicklow border and over enjoyed a well-earned rest in the highnumerous well-known Irish mountains. standard Knockree hostel. departure was on the cards the next morning, a gruelling twenty-two kilometres across hilly terrain, including passing Djouce and White Hill mountains, lay ahead. This leg of the journey also included breathtaking views across the famous Powerscourt waterfall. Finally the entourage landed in Lough Dan, a well-known scout campsite, where the tents were pitched and a good night's rest enjoyed by most. Following a welldeserved day of rest on the Sunday, where water activities in the refreshing waters of the lake kept everyone occupied, the tiring group undertook the final leg of the journey. Rockabill unfortu-
nately left Lough Dan just a day too soon, as a film crew for new television series 'Camelot' was to visit the following day, along with many big names in the Irish acting industry. However, the troop continued on in high spirits. At this stage, the ten kilometre trek to Glendalough seemed like a stroll to the local supermarket for the scouts, who breezed through the final leg of the expedition. The energetic troop arrived home in the early afternoon of Tuesday 10th, to waiting parents who sighed at the dirty rucksacks, but allowed themselves a wry smile at a troop who had clearly had the times of their lives.

The Autumn is well and truly here and are nights the starting to get shorter, as many of us are sad to see the summer gone, autumn is still a great season of the year weather wise. means Autumn getting busier for many of us as we see the children returning to school and the getting evenings shorter, the trees losing their leaves and the feeling of fresh is all around.
It’s time to pack more into our days out side the home when it’s bright. Carrying out renovations to your home can be done at any time, but in the Autumn you still have the advantage of fairly long evenings and bright mornings. Getting important renovations in your home are a job none of us look forward to but sometimes they are inevitable and best to get on with them before winter limits us to indoor DIY. Plan your jobs carefully using importance and cost as guidelines, this way you know they need your attention and by acknowledging this they are coming off the long finger.

Keep it Classy Keeping your look up to date is a doddle here in the North County. There are so many great hairdressers that are offering lots of specials, it’s a great excuse to splash out. Regular trips to the hairdresser is a great way to keep your hair in good condition and also keep your confidence high. They say your hair is your crown, well keep it that way with some TLC every now and again. Love the things you’re born with no matter where you might find fault with them. You can change anything about your appearance and if something is bothering you, change it. For example, if you’re fed up with the clothes you wear, take a trip to one of the great shopping centres and shops throughout the towns and villages here in the North County. Take a look what’s in the window and ask inside for assistance to get your size. If you would rather something a little different, the assistant can be sure to direct you in the direction of what you’re looking for. Once you have something you like and feel good in, you don’t have to wait for a special occasion to wear it; do it now and feel good about yourself.

Local Sailor Takes Rush Regatta By Storm Despite extremely windy conditions, the Rush Sailing Club Regatta got off to a flyer, as more than a hundred sailors raced
over the last weekend of August. At the centre of the Regatta was Rush man, Paddy Dillon, who swept up the major awards
over the weekend by winning the Mermaid Open Race and Regatta Race in his Mermaid called Wild Wind. He was also a crew member of the winning Cruiser boat. Sailors taking part in the races came from clubs
such as Skerries, Clontarf and Dun Laoghaire, as far as Foynes Co. Limerick and Sligo, to race at the annual event. The Rush Regatta was part of a championship and he will carry valuable points into his next challenges at Howth and Dun Laoghaire. “I’m delighted with the win,” said Dillon, “it was brilliant, despite the conditions.” The Regatta was held on a weekend of gusting winds, but the young sailors of the area did not let the unwel-

By Liam Keegan before the race that he was looking forward to it, but admitted the weather might take its toll on the Laser boats. “If we don’t capsize straight away that would be great,” he joked, “other than that it should be a good race.” Club PRO, Jacqui Mc Crum, who helped organise the Regatta, as well as taking
part in the sailing, was delighted with the success of the event. “We’ve had three variations of boats racing over the weekend, including Cruisers, Lasers and 18 mermaids,” she said, “with over a hundred sailors taking part in the races.” Awards were presented to the winners of the each race on Sunday evening at Rush Sailing Club. “Special thanks goes to Paul “Packer” Thorne who towed the boats down to the water in his tractor,” she concluded.

Excitement Ahead Of Loughshinny Races This year sees the Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club gearing up for what promises to be another exciting adrenaline fuelled end to the road racing season in Ireland. The event at Killalane will see the world's best road racers in competition in the final meeting of the 2010 Road Racing calendar. Top road racing champions will be vying for those last crucial points, which could guarantee them a 2010 Irish Championship Crown. The Killalane Road Races take place over two days, Saturday September 11th, with roads closing from 1pm to 7pm and Sunday September 12th from 10am to 6.30pm. Race practice and qualifying is on the Saturday culminating with a day of world class racing on Sunday. Ray Kerr, Loughshinny Clubs PRO and sponsor of the Best of the Best Trophy is very excited about the competition. Ray, a Scotsman who has lived in Ireland for 12 years is torn between supporting fellow Scotsman Keith Amor or Dungannon man Ryan Farquhar to pick up the trophy. Ray says, “I have great respect for all of the riders who compete in the great sport of Pure Road Racing here in Ireland.” Ray is also fielding his own bike at Killalane. Ridden by local guy and fellow club member, Sean Leonard, Ray's Honda 600cc was first seen out at the Skerries 100 in July. 'it was a real thrill to see the bike out at Skerries for the first time and I can't wait to see it out again at Killalane. Sean was delighted with the bike and told me it handled like a dream,” said Ray.

All About The Groom Autumn is a good time for weddings, and men world wide are getting ready to take the final step at the end of relationship road and get married. While some are doing it for the umpteenth time, most are rookies at this procedure. The following guidelines and tips will come in handy for those who need to hold someone's hand while walking down the aisle (well maybe not literally). From preparing your wedding vows to picking out your tuxedo for the big day and planning the honeymoon, the hotel and the cake you should take notes. Considering the groom, bride, best man, maid of honour, and the family all have their part to contribute in this special day the groom has a lot of responsibility and needs to have e v e r y t h i n g covered. The bride
also has lots of responsibilities so it’s a good idea for both to keep records.

then this is a personal choice. Needless to say, your woman shouldn't expect it, but you still want to impress her with it, maybe splash out. There are plenty of great jewellers offering all different prices so it shouldn’t be a big problem, so take the time to shop around.
Making you own wedding vows is the kind of gesture that will make your woman melt and get her all worked up for the honeymoon. The traditional speech is a classic one, but you should add some spice and creative vocabulary to personalise and fill it with meaning. Throw in some inside comments to really make it your own.
Benefits Of Marriage Getting married is definitely making a comeback with lots of couples tying the knot these days. Getting married has never been so f a s h i o n a b l e and who can blame a lot of these

Make your Wedding a Royal Affair... couples considering the brilliant deals on offer at the moment, especially here in the North County. Being married means sharing expenses and splitting the costs of major purchases. If you consider the money women cost you and the money you'd spend on dinner dates and the occasional gift, it can save you a lot of money and time. Not to mention the advantages of having an extra income in the household. Marriage means you can afford the things you could never afford on your own, it means a better home, a better car, a better holiday, and better stuff.
Marriage Makes You A Better Man If you're a smart guy, you'll choose to be with a woman who is insightful, opinionated and honest. That's the kind of companion who can make you a better person. She can bring out the best in you. She can challenge you to be the best version of yourself. On top of that, through marriage you'll learn the true meaning of self-sacrifice and compromise. In short, marriage will make you a better man if you’re one of the lucky one’s who has met their soul mate. Go for it and enjoy every bit of it.

Karen Whelan, Ballyboughal “Yes I think it should be and it would be much easier for younger people to learn road safety skills. Instead of just getting lessons and going off in a car they would be aware of how to do it properly”.
Des Murphy, Swords “Definitely, the sooner the younger drivers start to learn the better for all and they would have a better understanding of the road”.
Ramunas Jekenevicius, Kinsealy “The learner drivers don’t have fully licensed drivers with them most of the time. There are not enough Gardaí on the street to check this out because most people only ever get stopped at check points”.
Joan Fitzgerald, Swords “Yes because children are driving at an earlier age, it’s a part of the school curriculum in the states so definitely it would be a good idea”.
Anne-Marie O’Shaughnessy, Donabate “It’s a good idea and it’s very important to teach the importance of not drinking, not taking drugs, not being tired etc, when they are driving because they are responsible for lives and the lives of others in cars”.
Gráinne Cassidy, Swords “Definitely from an early age in school and it would be a good idea to do it in transition year, to make younger people more aware before they even get into a car”.
Carol Dooley, Portmarnock “Definitely, drivers are getting younger these days and everybody is driving. This could make younger drivers more aware of the tragedies surrounding driving accidents and especially how important it is to go slow in residential areas”.
Billy Keating, Swords “Yes it should be brought in to the curriculum in transition year so everybody knows what they’re doing before they get out onto the roads because there are too many idiots out there”.
Elaine Whelan, Ballyboughal “Definitely it should be included in the curriculum as it would teach them more safety on the road and how important it is to be aware of some dangers that happen out of the blue”.
Linda Lyons, Swords “Yes, it might give the children more awareness before they get provisional licences and hopefully save lives”.
