Metro North Now Firmly On Track A
n Bord Pleanála has, at last, approved Metro North, paving the way for the Department of Transport to go about completing a cost benefit analysis of the overall project. The local community believe that the responsibility of delivering this vital project now lies firmly in the laps of our elected representatives. They must use all of their powers of persuasion to convince their parties of the huge benefits to the North County. The opportunities for prosperity, accessibility to the city and for extra visitors and shoppers to this region, with the associated benefits have all been well documented. Tony Lambert, CEO of Fingal Dublin Chamber of Commerce said, “The granting of the railway order for Metro North is wonderful news for Swords and the North County region. The Chamber now looks forward to government approval for work to commence. This will create thousands of

It is essential that Metro proceeds to create up to 4,000 direct jobs during the construction phase and another 2,000 indirect jobs. A further 37,000 new jobs can potentially be created and sustained along the ‘Metro North Economic Corridor’. The detractors of Metro are mainly southside economists who have the privilege of not having to experience the traffic jams endured every day by North County commuters and enjoy DART, bus corridors and the Luas.” He critised the Labour leader Eamon Gilmore, who said that Metro North was one of those projects that “can wait”. He couldn’t possibly be more wrong and clearly doesn’t seem to

The use of Newbridge House for this event is quite appropriate and is a chance to showcase such a beautiful place, which is owned by the community. party wasn’t an ordinary birthday celebration though, as Mikey has come to be known as something of a miracle child. Born with hydrocephalus, Mikey’s doctors told his mother and father, Antoinette and Michael, that he wasn’t going to live. They were told that if he did survive he would be blind and deaf, but Antoinette and Michael never stopped fighting for Mikey’s life.
“Antoinette was so determined”, close family friend, Gillian Donaldson told the County Leader, “She insisted that Mikey had a shunt placed in his brain and that his skull was constructed.” Mikey developed learning disabilities as he grew, but never went blind or deaf, and his case continues to baffle the doctors. “The doctors told us he was going to die, but when we looked at his little angel face, we knew there was no way he was going to die,” she said. The party took place in a packed Lusk Utd Soccer Club, with all his family and friends in great attendance and partied well into the night. “Still to this day, they don’t know how he’s still alive. He’s a miracle child, and he’s always smiled, through everything that’s happened”, concluded Gillian.

Sheltered Housing Proposed For Skerries A plan for the development of sheltered housing in Skerries has been put into place. The project, which was initially proposed to being built on the Golf Links Road, is now being proposed at an area near Skerries Bowling Green. Local Fine Gael TD, James Reilly said he was delighted that progress has been made on the sheltered housing project. “Skerries has been waiting ten long years for this development, and Cllr.Tom O’Leary has been instrumental in achieving that”, he said. Having been lobbied by a local resident for a town centre site, O’Leary sought out a suitable site for the project as the initial site on Golf Links Road was sold by the County Council. “Sheltered housing within towns is terribly important as it allows people to remain independent and involved in the community, and that’s where people thrive,” added Reilly. In the meantime, O’Leary said he was hopeful that the site would be developed and that the planner’s initial

supporting local jobs. The different types of clubs throughout the North County range from jewellery, hair and beauty, to gym clubs. Finding a special something for the special person in your life can be a very expensive thing and you want to get it right. Jewellery is one of the most expensive items you can buy and to get that special watch or ring you have always wanted couldn’t be easier if you join a club. Mothers, sisters, or special girls in your life will all love to have their hair done for Christmas or the New Year and by joining a hair club, you can ensure a gift that will put a big smile on that special lady’s face. Indeed even if you fancy making sure your own hair is in tip top condition this Christmas maybe you could get it for yourself. We all love the thoughts of losing weight after the Christmas break and what better gift to give to somebody than gym membership, it’s a sure way to get them motivated. It’s also a great way to get membership for yourself and your partner so you can kill two birds with the one stone. Being in several Christmas clubs now means less stress when Christmas is on top of us. You can work out how many presents you need to get and how many clubs you would like to be a part of. Using the clubs is using your head and not getting yourself in debt by accumulating heavy credit card bills or getting in debt with your bank. Remember Christmas is a time when family and friends come together and party, so plan now and enjoy a stress free Christmas.

A crowd of around 100 Senior Citizens turned out in Balbriggan for a talk by the Balbriggan Community Policing Forum, on Safety in the Home. Our older citizens are being urged to be more vigilant with callers to their homes, making sure that their Identification is correct before allowing entry. Inspector Declan Yates, told the County Leader,” It’s crucially important to be vigilant as there are currently individuals who are conning their way into senior citizens homes and taking advantage of them. We would ask older people to be very mindful when people call to their homes, our motto regarding identification is very simple, if in doubt, keep them out. Most official callers have nity to live with a small group of people and to have their own space within a home that is theirs alone. Eileen Kelly, Director of Nursing said, “This development offers clients of St. Joseph’s Intellectual Disability Service an opportunity to maximise their independence and to participate in the community within which they live, an opportunity which is welcomed by the clients themselves, their families, friends and service providers alike. Dublin Fire Brigade’s Officer Mark Wilson, told the County Leader, “We advise that all electrical sockets with the exception of the fridge, should be unplugged , all ashtrays emptied, we advise putting a small amount of water if the ashtray has just been used before its emptied into the bin. All doors should be closed and we also advise that all smoke alarms should be checked regularly. Smoke alarms are massively important as inhalation of smoke is the silent killer”. The event also featured speakers from Age Action, The Citizens’ Information Centre and The Order Of Malta who provided an excellent demonstration of what to do in the event of a stroke or a heart attack. The next meeting will be in the Order Of Malta in Balbriggan on November 18th at 7.30.

Charitable Teens Keep Halloween Alive The spirit of Halloween was well and truly in the air last Friday as members of community development organisation, Localise, were doing their bit for charity. The group started off helping out in Swords Senior Citizens Club, by making tea and refreshments as well as helping out with bingo and a halloween raffle. They then went on to St Michael’s House where they all dressed up and performed a show for the clients, carers and helped out with the Halloween festivities. Group Co-ordinator, Orla Burrowes told the County Leader, “We have been helping out in the community for three years now and it’s great to see how enthusiastic the teenagers are and how willing they are to help out in the community. It was a wet morning and they were bright as buttons and ready for action.”
By Leslie Murphy Localise have 10 group throughout Dublin. Some to the things Localise do is to look at the local community and see how they can be of service. They work with the CYC services and also in conjunction with the local parishes for recruitment. At present there are 20 teenagers and five adult leaders in Swords who are all volunteers. Wojciech Mroczek, Community Youth Officer, told the County Leader, “ The teenagers come up with their own ideas which are supervised by the adult volunteers. The spirit of our young people is alive and well and they give each project 100 per cent.” They run around 3-5 projects and will be doing a clean up in St. Colmcille’s graveyard Swords, on Saturday November 13th.

Possible Movement On Malahide Shuttle Further to our recent story regarding Malahide Shuttle, local TD, Trevor Sargent has put case for Malahide Shuttle Bus to the Joint Oireachtas Transport Committee. On Wednesday, 20 October, Mr. Mark Healy Hutchinson and Mr. Eamon Porter of the Malahide Shuttle Bus Project Group came before the Oireachtas Transport Committee to ask for help in delivering a shuttle bus service to help rail passengers to get to and from Malahide train station without needing to drive or be driven in private cars. Sargent, a regular user of public transport, who is a member of the Transport Committee said: “The survey of rail passengers living in the Malahide area is revealing. Only seven per cent of rail commuters use existing bus services to get to the station. This leaves 93 per cent of Malahide rail users for whom Dublin Bus does not provide an adequate service. I reject the Department of Transport line that current services are adequate. A local shuttle service which is punctual, dependable and affordable is needed as an alternative to car use. I propose the Department of Transport be invited before the Committee to pursue this matter,” concluded Sargent.
James Reilly TD, is pictued running in the recent Dublin City Marathon. James ran for the Prospor Fingal and Concern For Haiti charities. He completed the gruelling course in under six hours, which is a wonderful achievement.

the community from businessmen to children. Conor Norton of LOCI told the County Leader that the public’s input will be crucial in the consultation process. “We are hoping to get a better understanding of the community’s needs, their main issues and concerns, so that we can improve the town centre. The more people involved gives us a wider scope to make change.” Joe English is clear about what needs to be done “We are taking our time , making sure that we get it
right, putting the pieces of the jigsaw into place to create the bigger picture for Balbriggan’s future” Over the last number of years, the council has improved Balbriggan town centre with resurfacing of pavements and roads and new signage but the public realm plan will take things to another level, which could boost local business and tourism opportunities for the area. Balbriggan Club Hopes For Multi Sports Centre Balbriggan Rugby Club are keeping their fingers crossed that An Bord Pleanala will finally grant permission for a new multi sports complex. Building of the facility will be delayed until early next year after objections were raised to the original application. Locals had objected claiming that a bar in the new rugby club building would cause both traffic congestion and noise late at night. The club says that they have no plans to have a licensed premises in the facility. Should the entire project get the green light, it will be a multi sports centre complete with a six lane 25 metre swimming pool and indoor facilities for five a side, badminton and all weather training for the rugby club. The sports centre will, however, have a cafeteria while the club’s new premises will have a new members’ lounge, kitchen and dining areas.

His award was for the best cleaning professional in Ireland for his work in the Plaza Shopping Mall, in the presence of 350 industry professionals on the night. It’s no wonder that Shane is so proud of his staff. “Anyone who sees Raja’s work in Swords Plaza can see why he won. Raja is a thorough professional and a complete gentleman and a great example to our industry. Mention must be given to other team members responsible for these awards. They include National Support Services supervisor for the Swords Plaza contract, Andrej Sventickij and our clients at Gannon Properties and Knight Frank Ireland.” Shane is very proud of his working relationship with Swords Plaza and anyone who visits it will be impressed by the condition of the Mall. shop front windows and pressure washing. “Our window cleaning service utilises the Reach and Wash system which is a water-fed pole system, allowing the cleaner to clean windows which are five or six storeys high from the safety of the ground. High level cleaning, as well as carpet cleaning and hard floor polishing are included in the Specialist cleaning range of services. Shane emphasises a unique service the company provides. “We provide a bundle of services for those responsible for managing buildings. Instead of using three service providers for contract cleaning, window cleaning and pest control, we provide a single package which enables us to pass on operational and cost synergies to our clients,” he said. Shane started the business six years ago from his apartment in Donabate. He had one man working for him and a van at his disposal. The company was originally called National Property Services. The company moved to its present site in Seatown Business Campus and launched the new name and brand last August. “I had worked for 11 years for multi nationals without getting the rewards. I decided to put the same effort into working for myself when I saw an opportunity in the market.” Now he employs a total of 35 people, serving clients across the Leinster region, from Drogheda to Greystones and over to Kildare. “Providing this high quality service has enabled us to grow to where we are today and will be a key factor to
driving our growth in the coming years. Our ambition is to grow aggressively while still providing excellent value services. In terms of where we’re going, we want to be recognised within our industry across Ireland and this is the long term goal for the company.” National Support Services ooze professionalism, from the impressively maintained offices in Seatown Business Campus, to the range of vehicles ready to respond to clients’ needs, to the friendly and ‘can do’ attitude of the staff. It seems that this company is certainly going in the right direction.

North County Dublin’s
Council Snubs Local Photographers Continued from page 1 invited to purchase the photos for their own personal use, thus adding to the already handsome profit made by Mr. McMahon. The cost included taking the pictures and putting them in libraries around the North County, as well as in County Hall in Swords. It also included the group picture of all 24 councillors, which was put up in each building, as well as a shot of the councillors from the area in which the building is situated. Similar photo shoots in the past for the Council website and Council publications were performed by a council employee who retired in 2008 and was not replaced because of the recruitment embargo. It seems odd that none of the assembled councillors enquired about who the photographer was, seeing as they are some of the most photographed people in the region and would be very
familiar with the local snappers. Having spoken to some prominent, hard pressed rate paying local photographers, the mood is one of anger and disappointment. The general feeling is that the loss to the local economy is unforgivable and is matched only by the thoughtless arrogance of the Council management in taking such action. Well known Swords photographers, Norman Blakeney and Philip O’Neill were very angry at the revelations. Blakeney told the County Leader, “As a rate payer in the North County, I regard it as very disappointing in these hard economic times, because the local authority provide us with nothing. They just grab everything. We have no leeway for parking and it seems that local businesses are there just to provide for councillors,” he said. Speaking about the local economy he was very forthcoming. “Customers to

my studio will go up the town for meals and refreshments and provide for the local economy. They also contribute to parking fees, which benefit the council directly.” Philip O’Neill was equally angry and said, “I have been living in the North County for the past 27 years, 13 of which have been as a rate payer in my premises. I’m well known to the council, through getting small pieces of work here and there, for which I’m grateful, but I cannot understand their reasoning for such a decision. I have received many awards for my work and have worked for some large employers in the area,” he said. Many local business people that the County Leader has spoken to believe the Council’s policy of using agencies, who are not located within their rate paying area, is highly questionable and clearly begs the question of how many other council projects have been granted to companies outside the local authority area.

The famous Black Raven Pipe Band in Lusk has recently started beginner courses aimed at attracting young people into the folds of the classic organisation. The band celebrates its centenary this year and is coming off the back of a phenomenal second place in the World Championships held in Glasgow in August of this year. The snare drumming classes take place from 7.00pm to 8.00pm in the Band Room, located just beside St. Macullin’s Church. The fees are very affordable at €5 a lesson, and are paid on a term basis. Speaking to the County Leader, co-ordinator Ciara Russell, a tenor drummer herself, outlined that the aim of the classes is to “essentially get new, young members involved. Also, it would be great to really rouse the interest of the people of Lusk in the organisation”. There is also scope for piping classes and tenor drumming, should the demand be there.
Metro North Now Firmly On Track Cont’d from page 1
includes Metro North. To date, the Government has failed to publish any cost-benefit analysis on this project. We believe that in the Tony Lambert, CEO current economic Fingal Dublin Chamber climate, where cutbacks in public services, redundancies, and reduction in pay are the order of the day, it would be extremely unwise to give a blank cheque to any project without all the facts being in our possession. The Labour Party needs to see the revised cost/benefit analysis that any such decision is based on.” Deputy Trevor Sargent (GP), agreed Michael Kennedy TD with Kennedy’s assessment on the job creation front and said: “This decision is an important step forward for Dublin North. Metro North is an essential factor in creating a forecasted extra 37,000 jobs in the area. I am now hopeful that the Government will give final approval to the project so that the works can proceed Darragh O’Brien TD without delay,” he
concluded. Fine Gael deputy leader, James Reilly was also upbeat about the decision. “I am delighted to welcome the approval by Bord Pleanála of the Metro North rapid transport system I urge the James Reilly TD Government to get on with their assessment of the cost benefit analysis as soon as possible.” He also emphasised the job creation opportunity, calling it a “WIN WIN” project. “The build cost will be paid for over 30 years, with the first payment not due for five years when the project is complete. Yes we can afford it. We need a positive “can do” attitude to Trevor Sargent TD investment in this region and positively endorsing the Metro North project is the way to go,” he concluded. There are some amendments to An Bord Pleanála’s ruling on the project, mostly affecting the Swords area. The main adjustments include the elimination of three stops at Belinstown, Lissenhall and Seatown and the relocation of a depot and park-and-ride facility. The new terminus will be located at F i n g a l l i a n s Roundabout and is called Estuary. The overall 18km line has therefore been shortened by 2.3km, which is likely to reduce the cost still further. Senator Brendan Ryan

Swords Man Is All Ireland Champion Drummer
Malahide’s very own Dublin Ladies Gaelic football stars received a very warm reception in the town following their recent victory over Tyrone in the All-Ireland final. Members of both the Dublin team and their local club St. Sylvester’s were paraded through the town led by a bag piper and followed by approxi-
mately 250 local supporters on Sunday the 27th of October. Speaking about what it means to win the AllIreland, local star Sinead Aherne told the County Leader: “It’s a fantastic feeling, it’s been a long time in the works for us, but to finally get there at the end is great.” A reception was held for Sinead and the other
New Pitch Opens In Seabury Seabury in Malahide has received a fantastic new multiuse games area which can function as both a soccer pitch and a basketball court. This exciting new amenity was opened on Saturday the 23rd of October in a ceremony with a small gathering of local people. County Mayor, Ken Farrell told the County Leader, “It’s very, very welcome and it’s true proof that community partnership is still alive and well in the local area.” The games area is one of seven such facilities to be opened by the County Council with financial assistance coming from the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport and the
players at St. Sylvester’s GAA club following the parade, where the supporters packed in to congratulate the girls on their success. “The effort that they put into organising everything for us tonight is great, and there were a lot of kids who came up to us tonight, and obviously they’re the future of the club, so it’s nice for them
to have people that keep them interested and people they can look up to, and hopefully try and get onto the Dublin team one day themselves,” said Sinead. “I’m delighted for all of our team, it’s been a huge squad effort, not just this year but over the last number of years for Dublin,” she continued.
Football Association of Ireland. “We’re hoping that we can secure more funding again next year, there’s huge demand out there and [the games areas] have proved to be very successful,” said Mayor Farrell. It is hoped that the facility will provide more opportunities for local young people to keep active and have a positive social outlet. According to the Mayor, “Anything that can keep young people away from alcohol and to make a contribution to society is to be welcomed.” The ceremony also saw the planting of daffodils bulbs on the green near the games area as part of the council’s aims to improve the open space in Seabury and make it more colourful in 2011.

and also for evening dinner parties as we believe the Thatch has the perfect ambience and setting for the festive season” said Laura. Anne, Laura and Ryan are particularly mindful of the local economy and employ staff from the locality. “All of our staff are highly professional, outgoing and above all, friendly. We are all equally passionate about the food, wine and coffee that we serve. Where possible, we source our food locally and we are conscious of keeping the local economy at the forefront of our thoughts when ordering,” said Ryan. The atmosphere in The Thatch is particularly endearing and the intimate size of the premises oozes charm and history. It is like taking a step back to a different era but with a modern twist. The Thatch is the
oldest two storied thatch cottage in the North County and dates back to 1760. It is thought to have been the home of the notorious smuggler, Jack the Bachelor who plied his trade, pirating ships off the Rush and Loughshinny coast. One can almost feel the sense of history in this utterly charming place. The importance of the history of The Thatch is not lost on the owners and they are very proud to be associated with such an historic building. “We are careful guardians of this beautiful building and we are proud to invite people to come and experience The Thatch Coffee House & Wine Bar. There are many derelict buildings across the North County and we’re delighted to transform this building into what it is today,” said Anne. American and Asian visitors in particular are charmed by the history of the place and insist on having their photos taken inside and outside the building. The enthusiasm and professionalism of the proprietors is very evident and a real sense of pride in their endeavours is clear to see. They have managed to fuse history and modernity in a delicate and tasteful way and have provided the people of Rush and
the greater North County area with a new venue to meet old friends and enjoy great tasting coffee, wine and food. Go along and treat yourself and be charmed by this lovely place.

Jack And Jill Fundraiser In Rush A fundraiser night took place was in the Strand Bar, Rush recently in aid of support group The Jack and Jill Foundation. It was organised by Carl Brennan and Susanne Matthews, who receive support from the Foundation for their one-year-old daughter, Annie. A nurse comes out from the Foundation for 40 hours a month and helps take care of Annie and gives her parents some respite. “She comes out and does everything”, said Susanne, “She does Annie’s physio work with her, brings her for walks and takes of
Portmarnock Musical & Dramatic Society will present “Tolka Row” in the PSLC from November 3rd to 6th inclusive at 8:00p.m. each evening. This play is by Maura Laverty and is set in Dublin city during the 1950’s. It tells the story of the Nolan family as Rita Nolan tries to accommodate both young and old in a small three
her for the day. It’s fantastic”, she said. The Foundation provides care for children with severe neurological development issues, and Carl and Susanne were keen to repay the charity for the support of their daughter. “If Jack and Jill don’t reach a certain target every year, our 40 hours will be cut, “said Brennan, “A nurse is at home minding Annie as we speak, so this fundraiser wouldn’t even be possible without their care.” The donating of mobile phones to the Foundation also has great benefits for the child care group. The recycling of 250 mobiles phone is worth a month’s nursing care for Jack and Jill, so it’s not really asking that much.
Great Music And Craic In Ballyboughal Fingal Folk group meets in Ballyboughal Community Hall every Friday and the seisúins there are becoming very popular. There are a lot of North County musicians and singers, some even travelling from as far as Ardee to take part. To date, there has been International folk dancing with visiting dance
teachers from Netherlands, as well as Sean Nos brush dancing from a young lady from Mayo. Every week brings new talent and some surprises from even the most experienced of musicians and singers. The club is proving to be a great social night out especially in Ballyboughal and surrounding areas and is a great place
for parents to introduce their young children to live music. As always, singers, songwriters and young bands etc. are very welcome to come along and perform at this quaint venue. Performances are every Friday night from 8.00pm to 10.00pm sharp. Musicians are asked to be at the venue for 7.30pm.

Winter is the time for pampering oneself and making the most of the long evenings, whether it be treating yourself to a foot spa, a applying a luxurious body lotion or a fake tan. If you’re the type who hates getting up on the cold frosty mornings you need to make sure you have a routine that will zap you in to a lively chirpy humour. There are lots of different ways to get you up and on the go in the morning, despite the cold and set you up for a productive day. Have your hair washed the night before and tie it up so it won’t go wild while you sleep and you will just have to give it a little going over
with the dryer. Looking good is one of the major things that will effect your day and if you have to deal with people, this will impact your day even more. But if you’re having a day off or you’re a stay at home mum it still can make the difference if you look good. Your attitude will change and you will have a spring in your step. Making the most of what you have is the least you can do with out breaking the bank. A freshly blow-dried hair style (if you have the time) and nice casual clothes or dressy clothes if you’re off to work can give you that spring in your step you need.

North County Leader’s Weekly Helpful Guide For Jobseekers
Control of the interview Writes Siobhán Kinsella
Skerries won a Gold Medal at the recent Tidy Towns awards. Martina Grogan is pictured accepting the award from Minister Gormley in the company of Evelyn Moynihan from SuperValu.
Our Tidy Towns Steal The Show Yet Again The North County once again stole the show at the presentation of the Dublin Tidy Towns Competition winners' awards with Skerries winning yet again. Mr. John Gormley, T.D., Minister of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, presented the winners from the Dublin Region of the National Tidy Towns Competition with their prizes at a ceremony hosted by Dublin Tourism and held in the impressive surroundings of the former St. Andrew's Church, the Dublin Tourism Centre, Suffolk Street. Both Skerries and
The Endeavour Award winner was Balscadden. The award was accepted by Marion Costelloe. She is pictured here with Evelyn Moynihan, SuperValu and Minister John Gormley.
Malahide followed up their 2009 success with Gold Medals again, whilst Skerries made it an impressive five in a row win in the Fingal County Award. A number of Special Awards were handed out on the night also, with Sustainable Skerries Transition Town winning the Sustainable Development Award and St. Patrick's BNS, Donabate winning the Schools Award, while Balscadden won an Endeavour Award. Lusk also featured in the winners’ enclosure for the first time after many years of hard work by the local committee. Minister Gormley pointed out that 2010 again proved to be a successful year for Tidy Towns with a record entry of 764 towns and villages. The Minister said, “The

Dublin Region once again performed very well, winning 26 awards with Skerries winning the Regional Award together with a Gold Medal”. Frank Magee, Chief Executive of Dublin Tourism paid tribute to the efforts of Dublin's Tidy Towns groups saying, “The hard work undertaken by the members of Tidy Towns committees across the region is crucial to the promotion of tourism in Dublin. Your efforts make Dublin a truly welcoming and hospitable environment for our visitors”. The Tidy Towns competition is organised by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and sponsored by SuperValu. SuperValu have sponsored the National Tidy Towns competition since 1992.
The County Award was won by Skerries. Pictured receiving the award from Minister Gormley is Anne Doyle. Also in the picture is Luke Moriarty, SuperValu.
You only have one chance to make that vital first impression and get that job! The first 10 seconds of your interview can have a large impact on your success! Remember if you are wearing a shift or tie, ensure your top button is closed! Wear a suit of business attire regardless of the position. Make sure you don’t smell of smoke or have overdone it on perfume or cologne! Present yourself as a representative of the company, which is what you want to be – so look the part! One of the first icebreakers interviewers normally use is , “Tell me a little about you”. This is singularly
the least prepared for question of any candidate I have interviewed. Candidates refer to their social life ,their marital status, their hobbies. This should be your elevator pitch. Your 10 second synopsis of your professional experience and attributes (without arrogance). If you describe yourself as an experienced sales professional experienced in achieving demanding targets and an ability to create long lasting professional relationships you will set the tone differently than describing yourself as a keen botanist! Be clear about the fact that you have 40 mins to get that job. Ever word you utter and the positivity of your body language in addition to your preparation brings you closer to your goal – that job! Remember to be positive, maintain eye contact. Listen to the questions asked and where possible give examples of similar situation you have faced. The people in front of you
are assessing you as a possible solution to their vacancy and how well you will represent them. The are seeing other candidates in addition to you so do yourself justice. The very best of luck!
Siobhan Kinsella is Manager of CPL and Flexsource Solutions with responsibility for the Fingal area. She is a Director of Fingal Dublin Chamber of Commerce & Drinan Enterprise centre. Siobhan is also an active member of the Rotary Club of Dublin Fingal
AREA FIELD SALES MANAGER North County Leader - County Dublin’s biggest and best read newspaper, has the above vacancy in its Advertising Department. Ideally we are seeking a candidate with previous experience of advertising sales. Candidates should be hard working, conscientious and have the ability to work well in a team environment. An attractive salary, together with a rewarding commission structure, and where relevant, a car allowance is on offer.
The Schools Award was won by St. Patrick's BNS, Donabate. The award was accepted by Scott Brooks and Anne Marie Henigan alongside Ms. Evelyn Moynihan, SuperValu and Minister John Gormley.
Malahide won a Gold Medal at the recent Tidy Towns awards. Heidi Bedell accepted the award from Minister Gormley.

Miracle Prayer Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked you for many favours. This time, I ask you for a very special one. Take it Dear Heart of Jesus and place it within your broken heart, where your father sees it. Then in his merciful eyes it will become your favour and not mine. Amen. Say this prayer for 3 days. Promise publication and favour will be granted no matter how impossible. Never known to fail. L.K.K
Miracle Prayer ROBBIE GREENE 1st Anniversary of a darling Son and Brother who died on the 2nd November 2009 aged 21 years. Richard, Angela, Sarah and Liam would like to say to all of you, who knew and loved Robbie, a big thank you for joining with us in the celebration of his life and for all the cards and messages of sympathy. Feel no guilt in laughter, he knows how much you care Feel no sorrow in a smile that he’s not here to share. You cannot grieve forever, he would not want you to He’d hope that you would carry on, the way you always do So talk about the good times and the ways you showed you cared The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared Let memories surround you A word someone may say Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour, a day That brings him back as clearly as though he were still here And fills you with the feelings that he is always near For if you keep these moments, you will never be apart And he will live forever locked safe within your heart
