Great News For Local Jobseekers By Patrick Finnegan Good news may be on the horizon for unemployed people in the North County, who felt they were destined to seek employment in far flung places like Australia and Canada. This news comes about as a result of an Employment and Advice Fair that is taking place in Blanchardstown Centre on Thursday, 1st March and Friday, 2nd March next. The fair is in association with the Blanchardstown Centre and Fingal Dublin Chamber. Participants will include Irish, EU and International employers, who will be able to provide job information and advice on careers, both at home and abroad. An example of the types of jobs on offer will include a company from Norway who are looking for car and truck mechanics, plumbers and pipe fitters. Companies like Symantec, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Penneys, the Carlton Hotel Group and other key companies will be represented at the fair. Nifast will provide training opportunities and Flexsource Solutions will also have jobs on offer. Typical job opportunities will be for Joe Corr from Rush who received a Master of Science in Spatial Planning from Dublin Institute of Technology at the conferring ceremony in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin. Fingal Dublin Chamber CEO, Tony Lambert said: “The Chamber is delighted to support this major Employment and Advice Fair. It is imperative in the current economic climate to provide job seekers and employers the opportunity to come together for their mutual benefit. One of the main aims of the Chamber is to create an economic climate, where everyone benefits. We are delighted to be involved in this exciting project,” he concluded. Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton said: “Our partners in this local, national and international Jobs Fair are the Fingal Dublin Chamber and the Blanchardstown Centre and I very much appreciate their support with this venture. Information about all of the services of the Department of Social Protection will be available to jobseekers and former FÁS staff, who are now part of my Department, will be there to help in any way they can. A CV clinic will be conducted throughout the event which will help people develop their CV’s to the standard which is demanded by employers.”
