Public Reps Call For Urgent Action The County Leader contacted our public representatives, including county councillors, TDs and senators and we asked if this type of crime was out of control and what is needed to address the problem. Many came up with solutions ranging from practical measured to a more radical approach to criminals. County Mayor, Darragh Butler suggested that we need more specialist Garda resources targeted at gangland crime. Local TD, Brendan Ryan (Labour) said the

By Patrick Finnegan Government needs to resource the Gardai appropriately to combat organised crime through intelligent policing methods. These individuals are out of control and it is up to all communities to support the Gardai to do their jobs. Fianna Fail TD, Darragh O’Brien laid the blame squarely at the government’s door and said that the reality is that the North County area has experienced a cut of over 20 per cent to Garda resources over the

course of the past five years. Clare Daly TD (Ind) had a different take on the solution and feels that decriminalising drugs may be the solution saying that at the centre is the epidemic drug problem, which stems from the enormous profits that can be made out of prohibition. She says that filling the courts

and the prisons with addicts won’t put an end to the drugs trade. Meanwhile Alan Farrell TD is urging all representatives in our constituency, from all parties and none, to constructively engage and work together to prevent further attacks in our community, and ensure people feel safe in their own homes. Senator James Reilly (Fine Gael) is

strongly urging anyone with any information to come forward so that whoever did this can be caught. Local councillor, Ken Farrell, who lives in Lusk said that Gardai have a very difficult job in trying to tackle organised crime. Gangs seem to operate with no regard for the law whatsoever. He is calling on the Government to

prioritise resources for the Garda Intelligence and Special Detective Units who are at the frontline in this difficult battle. This view was largely shared with Cllr Joe Newman (NP) who said that violent deliberate shooting of any person is a despicable act, particularly in an area where children are out playing. He wants to see that we take

all means at our disposal and provide our gardai with the necessary resources for training and recruitment, so that the public can receive the protection they deserve. Another councillor, Duncan Smith (Labour) said that over the last 30 years we have had outrageous crimes such as the murder of members of an Garda Siochana including notably Garda Jerry McCabe, journalist Veronica Guerin and numerous killings including innocent people. He claims if it is out of control, then it has been out of control for twenty years or more. Sinn Fein TD, Louise O’Reilly is campaigning for increased garda resources in the area, including the reopening

of Rush Garda station and claims that this shooting will bring shock and fear to the local community. She claims that violent crimes shows the need to bring the number of gardaí up to pre-recession numbers. Similarly, Cllr Justin Sinnott (NP) said that the reality is when Garda numbers were reduced it had an impact. The closing of rural Garda stations has left those communities feeling vulnerable. Good intentions and words are no longer good enough. Government needs to act. These are just a sample of what our representatives had to say. To see all of the quotes, go to our analysis on page 10

New Facilities For Swords School Fine Gael TD, Alan Farrell, is delighted with the allocation of funding for two new mainstream classrooms and four new Special Education Teacher (SET) rooms at Holy Family JNS in River Valley, Swords. Speaking to the County Leader, Farrell said; “It is great news that the Department of Education and Skills has allocated

funding for the provision of two new mainstream classrooms and four new SET rooms. With such a fast-growing community in Swords, it is of the utmost importance that we continue to provide additional classrooms to schools in order to ensure all of our children receive a place in school, and are no longer placed on

waiting lists.” “I am pleased that Holy Family JNS is also being granted funding for four SET rooms, which are instrumental in supporting students facing difficulties in their education. It is

essential that we continue to put in place the necessary resources in schools across the North County to guarantee every student has the support they require, and to assist them in reaching their full

potential,” he said. “The purpose of our education system is to provide our children with the best possible education in an environment that is conducive to their learning. As the Government TD in

Want to try your hand at archaeology? Season two of the Swords Castle Digging History Community Archaeology Project is taking place from the 19th August to the 5th September, and they need volunteers. The project, funded by the County Council and the Heritage Council, allows members of the public to take part in a real archaeological dig, and to help us answer unanswered questions about our National Monument. Speaking to the County Leader, Christine Baker, local Community Archaeologist explains; “Swords Castle is one of the best surviving examples of an archbishop’s residence in the country, and was an important administrative centre. We’re looking for volunteers (18 years and over) to join us for this excavation. No experience

is necessary, and we have a number of roles for those who aren’t up to digging.” She went on to say; “This season, we hope to find out if there is a graveyard underneath the Castle, if there were buildings within the Castle yard, and just how old the different buildings in the complex are. Volunteers will have a front row seat as we focus on the history and geology of the stones, and investigate the works carried out in the 1970’s. ” Paul Reid, Chief Executive, Fingal County Council commended the work done last year and the upcoming excavation, saying; “The Community Archaeology Project is a fantastic example of how a collaboration between Fingal County Council, our citizens, and visitors to our county has produced a real and meaningful insight into the rich history of our National Monument. Swords Castle is a wonderful landmark, and the works, when completed, will highlight its spot as a jewel in our heritage offering.” To book your place on the project contact christine.baker@fingal.ie

Skerries Boy Is ‘Face Of Barretstown’

Conor Fitzgerald from Skerries

Conor Fitzgerald from Skerries has been selected as the ‘Face of Barretstown.’ Conor, now 14, was diagnosed with cancer almost two years ago and was chosen by Barretstown as part of an advertising campaign. His mother, Valerie told the County Leader about how Conor’s illness was first diagnosed. “We were in Spain on holidays in August 2014 when Conor was 12. It was very hot and Conor felt a little washed up. We thought nothing of it, as we believed it was because of the weather. Just over a week into the holidays, we went to a themed

By Patrick Finnegan park one night and Conor went off with his brother who mentioned that he got a knock on the bumper cars and he felt sick afterwards.” “The next day, he couldn’t hold anything down, even water. We thought it was a bug, but after 24 hours there was no sign of an improvement, so we brought him to the hospital. He was almost shrinking in front of our eyes,” said Valerie. “The hospital was just across the road and at first they thought it was heat stroke and they decided to do a blood test in case it was gastroenteritis. They decided to do a chest xray where they found a tumour in his chest. He was transferred to Malaga hospital, where a doctor confirmed the

tumour in his chest. We were due to return to Ireland on the following Tuesday and Conor was due to start secondary school on Wednesday at Skerries Community College.” “We decided to come home for treatment, but didn’t tell Conor about the extent of his illness and on Wednesday, Conor started school, but we had to attend Temple Street for treatment later that day. On Thursday, they confirmed that Conor had leukaemia with a mass. Our lives were suddenly turned upside down,” said Valerie. “He is now 14 months into maintenance and he is still on

loads of medication including chemo tablets. Every three months he has to go in for lumber puncture with chemo into his spine and is on beta blockers still. “When Conor was in hospital, there were posters on the wall about which is a camp for children with cancer and serious illness and our social worker told us about it. His name was forwarded to go to Barretstown. We went there

last August and it was amazing. He hadn’t done any fun things for such a long time. He was chosen as the Face of Barretstown when he filled in a form asking if he would be part of an advertising campaign. They took photographs and that’s how it all happened. Conor is delighted with this, even if he’s a little embarrassed. I’m so proud of him,” said a delighted Valerie.

Loughshinny Writer’s Play Comes To Millbank Loughshinny writer, Declan Gorman’s widely acclaimed play, ‘The Big Fellow’, based on Frank O’Connor’s 1937 biography of Michael Collins, will have a once-off performance at the Millbank Theatre in Rush, on Friday 22nd July. This is a controversial biog-

raphy of Collins. As O’Connor writes, Collins literally comes to life and together, writer and subject relive the excitement and ultimate tragedy of the 1916 to 1922 period, tracing Collins’s rise from unknown volunteer to intelligence leader of a revolution. But why, Collins wonders, is

Balbriggan Man Prepares For Marathon Walk Some weeks ago, we reported about an intrepid 75 year-old Balbriggan resident, who decided to walk 76 miles over four days to collect funds for homelessness. Aidan Lane responded to an appeal from Dublin Simon Community and he decided to walk from Balbriggan to Carrickmacross and back, starting on 29th July and finishing back in Balbriggan on 1st August. The County Leader followed the gruelling training regime that Aidan has embarked upon, and he told us about his progress. He said, “Over the winter I have plodded some hundreds of miles. Since my decision on the 1st May, I have planned and progressed from stretches of three, to five and on to 15 miles in one session. On Sunday morning, 26th June, despite the rain and the unusually heavy traffic on the roads, I managed the stretch of 19 miles from Balbriggan to Collon in almost 5 hours exactly. Having left home at 7 am, I passed through the main street in Collon at 12 noon precisely,” he said. When I

asked about any exertion or stress for him, Aidan’s reply was very philosophical. “When I contrast the Armageddon of our hapless, homeless people to my own situation, my compassion for them always grows. Students Union Welcomes New Female President The Union of Students in Ireland has welcomed its second elected female President in two years. Annie Hoey (27) from Drogheda will take on the role as President, two years after Pictured is the new President Laura Harmon of Union of the Union of Students in Ireland (USI), was elected to Annie Hoey the position. Her main priorities for her year-long term will include repealing the 8th; reducing the registration fee; rejecting the proposal for any governmental income-continent loan schemes; student accommodation; LGBT rights and equality. She said, “I’m very excited to be the new President of the Union of Students in Ireland. I want to hit the ground running and expect to have a very busy year ahead, focusing on repealing the eight; LGBT rights; reducing the registration fee of €3,000; fighting any proposals for loan schemes; finding solutions to the student accommodation crisis; and increasing student support.” Hoey was also at the forefront of the USI campaign against the MSM blood ban, and welcomed the recent announcement by Minister for Health Simon Harris that he is accepting the IBTS (Irish Blood Transfusion Service) recommendation to move to a one year deferral period for gay and bisexual men. She said that while progress has been made in the MSM blood ban area, Ireland still has a long way to go to achieve LGBT equality. “Ireland has made huge progress in the past year in areas like LGBT rights, equality and mental health,” Hoey said. “But it still has a lot further to go and for the coming year I hope to make USI a key player in further progress,” she said.

Dog-Friendly Café For Ardgillan Castle In a pioneering concept, Paws at Ardgillan is a unique new café that will give dog walkers the opportunity to dine with their dogs in the stunning surrounds of Ardgillan Castle and Demesne. The dog-friendly facility is one of the first in Ireland and is certainly the first feature of its kind in a municipal park in the country. Dog owners are universally frustrated by the fact that they cannot bring their dogs into a food premises and often have to either leave them at home or tie them up outside, neither of which are acceptable solutions. This refreshing new initiative means that after a walk in the extensive and abundant wide open spaces of Ardgillan, dog walkers can sit with their dogs at a café table and partake in either

hot or cold light food and refreshments. There are just three provisos that will prevail: that dog owners clean up any accidents, that all dogs are kept on a leash, and that persistently noisy dogs will be politely asked to leave. Property Manager at Ardgillan Castle, Tom Reilly said, ‘Since I took up the position of manager I have always been conscious of the fact that dog walkers are prevented from having their dogs alongside them when they visit our Tea Rooms,

Funding Boost For Local Childcare Centres Funding of over ¤455,000 is being made available to 80 child-care centres in Fingal to pave the way for a major expansion of free services starting from September, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr Katherine Zappone, has confirmed. The funding is to allow pre-school services to start taking in children from the age of three under the Government’s free childcare scheme from September – a move which is expected to see 60,000 extra children availing of services nationally. Minister Zappone says the move will allow children to avail of over 60 weeks of free childcare up from the current 38 weeks. The Minister said,” We are just weeks away from one of the most exciting moments in the history of free childcare in this country – when three year-olds will be able to access our services. Fingal has communities with some of the largest young populations in the country and the high level of funding being granted is a reflection of that. Every part of the local authority area will benefit.” “It will help transform daily life for many families by giving children time to interact and play with others and by freeing up time for parents. It is important to ensure that our providers are able to meet demand which is why I have successfully argued for a high level of funding,” she said. The funding being made available is specifically for pre-school providers – both community/not-for-profit and private providers – who want to expand their services to cater for more children from September 2016. This money will allow pre-schools to carry out refurbishment works, extend their teaching and play areas and to buy new toys and play equipment.

However, there are many excellent family fun events to be found outside the area, which can be combined with a nice drive complete with a nice picnic. Many places have top class family fun activities, including paint balling, crazy golf, farm animals, as well as swimming and generally having a funfilled family day out. Always remember to be extra cautious when family members, particularly children are near water. Activities like horse riding are always popular, especially with children and if the weather is bad, a visit to your local leisure centre is always very appealing. Here the entire family can enjoy the swimming pool, gym, badminton and other sports, and have a nice meal afterwards as well. If you wish to spread your wings a little, a visit to Dublin city is well worthwhile. We have a very interesting capital city with lots of places to visit. For adults, a visit here is memorable, with many of the finest pubs and restaurants to enjoy. Sites such as Trinity College and the world famous Book of Kells are a real treat, as well as a visit to Jameson Distillery or Guinness are highly recommended. City Bus tours are highly recommended, where you can relax and enjoy an informative commentary. With an excellent network of roads, there is now no excuse not to take the family off on a fun-filled day. There are some really worthwhile parks and places to visit, including something for the entire family to enjoy. The disappointing thing is that we are not shocked or surprised by these sort of shootings anymore. Had this been any other part of Dublin it probably would have blended back in with the rest of the news but when it happens in an estate you are familiar with it really hits home. It is frightening to think that with children off school, young kids could have easily been caught up in this with cars speeding through estates and guns being fired. We need more specialist Garda resources targeted at gangland and immediately. This cannot be allowed to continue.

The shooting in Lusk brings home to us in North County Dublin the reality of gangland and sectarian crime which afflicts many communities in Dublin City and throughout the country. The Crime and Security Branch of An Garda Siochana is the front line against this sort of crime and with improving national finances the Government needs to resource the Gardai appropriately to combat organised crime through intelligent policing methods. These individuals are out of control and it is up to all communities to support the Gardai to do their jobs. It is up to the Government to resource them appropriately and it is up to us as legislators to improve the laws in order to assist the Gardai further.

Sinn Féin is campaigning for increased garda resources in the area, including the reopening of Rush Garda station. This shooting will bring shock and fear to the local community. I hope the man who has been injured can make a full recovery. “Sinn Féin has been campaigning for increased garda resources in this area including the reopening of Rush Garda station. The recent spate of murders and violent crimes shows the need to bring the number of gardaí up to pre-recession numbers. That is what Sinn Féin campaigned for in the recent general election. Others preferred to offer tax breaks for the well off.

The latest shooting which took place demonstrates the critical need for a comprehensive plan to effectively overcome gangland associated crime. The feuding between criminal gangs has continued to hold siege of our communities, yet we see little action or co-ordinated strategy and too many repeated promises from the Minister for Justice. I have continually raised the need to increase Garda numbers and provide the necessary resources required to tackle gangland crime. I am extremely concerned that this kind of crime could take place here. This Government must wake up to the fear and danger that many communities are experiencing. They must detail what actions are being done to protect the public from this ongoing savagery.

Those responsible must be caught and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. I, like many in our local community, am shocked at the attack which has taken place in Lusk. My thoughts are with the victim and his family. A full and thorough investigation must be carried out by An Garda Síochána, and those responsible must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. As our community works to heal itself in the aftermath of this shooting, it is essential that we support one another, while the Gardaí work to determine the motive behind this heinous attack, and arrest those responsible. As the Government TD, I would urge all representatives in our constituency, from all parties and none, to constructively engage and work with us, and An Garda Síochána, to prevent further attacks in our community, and ensure people feel safe in their own homes.

The daylight shooting in the heart of Lusk has brought Dublin’s spiralling crime wars onto our doorsteps. While demands for action are understandable, a knee-jerk response, with more criminal powers being given to the State, will not deal with these issues. At their centre is the epidemic drug problem, which stems from the enormous profits that can be made out of prohibition. Filling the courts and the prisons with addicts won’t put an end to the drugs trade, or to the violence. The Portuguese model of decriminalisation is widely recognised to have massively reduced the harm from drugs in that country. It has reduced the number of people imprisoned on charges of possessing drugs, freeing up the criminal justice system to deal with more serious and violent criminals. That’s an approach we should be looking at, rather than just going after the easy pickings of people at the bottom of the food chain.

The shooting in Lusk is utterly appalling. To think that something like this could happen in a lovely estate like Dun Emer with so many young children and families living there is deeply disturbing. Details are still emerging and the Gardai are asking anyone who was in or around the area on Tuesday morning to contact Balbriggan Garda station. I would strongly urge anyone with any information to do this so that whoever did this can be caught. Irrespective of who is responsible, Fine Gael are determined to confront those involved, as we have already done in the case of other recent shootings, where numerous arrests have been made, and a number of persons charged. The new Criminal Assets Bureau Bill will also help put many of these criminals behind bars by going after their money and assets.

The latest shooting marks a frightening escalation in gangland associated crime. I am extremely concerned that there is an apparent link between this latest shooting and the spate of gangland related killings over recent months. I am shocked and dismayed that a crime of this nature could take place in a quiet suburban neighbourhood such as Lusk. As brutality of this kind spread over recent months, we saw condemnation from the Minister for Justice and repeated promises to crack down on these criminal gangs. Despite this, the feuding between criminal gangs has continued. A clear message must be sent by Government to all involved in gangland crime, that communities will no longer be held under siege and every measure will be undertaken to end this brutality.

“I was shocked when I heard of this shooting in my own village of Lusk this week. Lusk is a peaceful village with quiet estates and many young families. To think that this could take place on our doorstep, as it does on the doorstep of other communities in Dublin City, is extremely shocking. The Gardai have a very difficult job in trying to tackle organised crime. Gangs seem to operate with no regard for the law whatsoever and we have seen this happen in Lusk last week. I am calling on the Government to prioritise resources for the Garda Intelligence and Special Detective Units who are at the frontline in this difficult battle. In the meantime, I stand with the residents of Lusk who are sickened by such violence in our village.”

Organised and sectarian crime has existed in Ireland for as long as I can remember and the current spike in killings and the feud in the Inner City has yet again brought it to our attentions. Over the last 30 years we have had outrageous crimes such as the murder of members of an Garda Siochana including notably Garda Jerry McCabe, journalist Veronica Guerin and numerous killings including innocent people. For me, if it is out of control, then it has been out of control for twenty years or more. More accurately I think serious organised and sectarian crime remains a very serious issue in our society and we need a combination of tougher legislation and improved resources for Garda intelligence units in particular to get serious criminals of all stripes behind bars and off our streets.

This further highlights the enormous challenges our Gardai are having to deal with on a daily basis. While it’s welcome to see newly qualified Gardaí coming through, we also need to prioritise the upskilling of the current force to be able to fully deal with the modern criminal activity particularly around drugs. It is very worrying that executions and killings are spreading through Dublin City and all over the county and its only a matter of time that innocent people get caught up in this feud. These criminals need to fear that if they flee from Ireland to another European country, they will still be fully held responsible and accountable for the actions they carried out whether it be in Ireland or elsewhere. Young men who are mainly involved in these activities need to fully realise there is no positive outcome to this lifestyle, if you don’t end up doing a lengthy prison service you are at the mercy of these unscrupulous crime lords.

The recent shooting in Lusk served as a reminder that serious crime has become a regular occurrence in Dublin. Both urban and rural dwellers across Fingal don’t feel safe. The cut backs in Garda resources, including Garda intelligence have had a profound impact. The reality is when Garda numbers were reduced it had an impact. The closing of rural Garda stations has left those communities feeling vulnerable. What is required is a long term strategic vision for policing and for the criminal justice system to work in tandem. I don’t envy the job the Minister has, however she must show strength and show that Government are in control and not the organised crime bosses. We need to support our Gardai and provide them with whatever is necessary for them to do their job. Good intentions and words are no longer good enough. Government needs to act.

The recent shooting in Lusk was terrible, and I’m sure that the local community is still in shock. At this stage, communities all over Dublin are understandably afraid of further events such as this occurring, and of their own families and friends getting hurt. This incident highlights, I believe, the urgent need for more Gardaí, something Sinn Féin has called for on numerous occasions, and also the need to re-open Garda stations which were closed over the past couple of years, including the one in Rush. In my own area, local residents are not at all happy that both Malahide and Howth Garda stations are closed to the public between 9pm and 7am, and want to see the necessary resources allocated to ensure that these will now be reopened throughout the night.

In light of the upsurge in gangland activities, in particular the recent shooting in Lusk, a concerted approach is required by The Dept of Justice, An Garda Siochana and relative agencies to not only tackle these gangs, but to also tackle the social inequality in our society that leads to young people getting involved with drug gangs. The closure of Templemore, the lack of investment in community policing which provide vital local intelligence as well as piece of mind to people in conjunction with reduction in funding for youth based projects only serves to provide a platform for these gangs to grow, There is great work being done by a range of organisations as well as the Gardai on such little funds, the expertise is there, but resources are required.

The violent deliberate shooting of any person is a despicable act, particularly in an area where children are out playing. Shootings like this have a devastating effect on innocent families. Alongside the ongoing inner city feud, we now have this type of crime in our rural areas. Criminal acts like this are linked with the greed of drug barons and their associates, resulting in total disregard for human life. Over the past few years, our garda force has been decimated by past governments which I raised on a number of occasions at a number of council meetings. It is now imperative that we take all means at our disposal and provide our gardai with the necessary resources for training and recruitment, so that the public can receive the protection they are entitled to and take the necessary steps to purge this disease from our society.

We seem to be reading about gangland violence more and more these days. A week doesn’t go by where we don’t hear of a shooting or a violent attack. That being said, it never ceases to shock, especially when it happens so close to home. Human life does not seem to mean much to some people. These individuals appear to have no fear and will carry out their vicious acts any time of day or night, and in front of innocent bystanders, including children. I absolutely condemn this violence, which we are experiencing all too often in Dublin, and hope the Gardai get all the support they require to bring the perpetrators to justice.

To say that crime is out of control in the country is an understatement. One just has to read the headlines over the last year to realise that people are literally getting away with murder. This is happening almost on a weekly basis in our public spaces. The worrying fact is that we can become immune to hearing about murder on our streets. There are issues with the legislation, number of Gardai available and I believe there may be questions to be asked of the legal profession. I believe there has to be a solution, but it may not be simple. Repeat offenders should not get bail Free legal aid should not be afforded to repeat offenders.

Dail To Vote On CETA

Penneys are once again challenging the high end stores with their fashion forward ranges and competitive pricing. Floral embroidery are one of the hottest trends out there at the moment and Penneys are really raising the bar with their take on the trend. Floral and embroidered detailing are definitely having a moment this season. Primark have your summer outfit sorted, embracing it on everything from boyfriend jeans to denim jackets. Last week, I was in Strasbourg attending a Press Seminar organised by the Parliament’s Dublin Press Office. The big issue was “Brexit”. Passions ran high on every side with a little touch of common sense occasionally provided. It was clear from the debate that there is a general recognition that reform is required, but some still refuse to see that. I recalled how some twenty five years ago I attended, what was a forerunner of what is now the Committee of the Regions, as the delegate from Dublin at a “special” pre Maastricht Treaty Conference. Having departed Dublin committed to supporting the Treaty, I returned convinced, as I still am, that that Treaty was flawed. Expressing that opinion on my return I got my knuckles very seriously rapped. It seemed no critical appraisal was permitted and such views certainly were not to be expressed. No political system is all good or all bad. Discussion and dissent should be welcomed particularly if its purpose is to find a better way or a common ground. I was pleased to have the opportunity to attend Nigel

Farage’s Press Conference which was an entertaining affair but with little or no worth. I spoke with Commissioner Hogan about CETA and TTIP and the danger both pose to the harmony of the EU. Hogan told me that the Commission recognised the importance that all member By Cathal Boland states, not just their Governments would have to agree CETA by a Parliamentary vote. This will make for interesting situations in some countries where the STOP TTIP movement is strong. The question will also be put to the Westminster Parliament prior to their possible departure from the EU. The date when and if the new British PM serves article 50 is extremely important in the management of the next EU Commission and Parliament. It is the PM who will decide when the exit negotiations commence. Should that not be before July next year the UK will automatically be entitled to elect MEPS to the Parliament at the 2019 election. I also had the opportunity to chat to FG’s MEP Brian Hayes about a growing rumour coming into North County Leader’s office that he is planning his return to national politics. Hayes was quite definite that he intends serving out his elected term in the European Parliament.

Three precious flowers with inimitable exotic, slightly citrus, accents give this piquant eau de toilette its distinguished character: rose and Sambac jasmine in the form of absolutes; Heights orchid, accurately represented by its living version, a technique that makes it possible to capture the quintessence of the flower and then reproduce it in the laboratory thanks to the perfumer’s sensitivity and know-how. Finally, Flowerbomb’s extravagantly addictive accord unfurls: a generous and sensuous alchemy of patchouli and amber notes. With the Flowerbomb Precious Oil, Viktor&Rolf introduces a new and enchanting sensory experience. Voluptuous, sophisticated and infinitely luxurious, the Precious Oil leaves an opulent and addictive trail.

With summer at its height, you may be in the mood for some major reconstruction, or possibly just want to make the house more summer friendly. Whatever you’re thinking of, the County Leader has gathered some tips to hopefully inspire you to get started. It is possible to change the look of your home, on the outside and inside, on just a small budget. Businesses in the North County have some great summer offers on to give you the best bargain, and achieve your summer home on a small budget. As

the summer’s here, there’s no longer a need for drab colours and heavy materials. Here is a season where your surroundings should be light and breezy to reflect the summer. A popular tip is to replace those heavy winter curtains for lighter, thinner ones. Embrace the sun, it’s not everyday we have it. In fact, we most probably spend a third of the year in the dark and cold, a little morning sunshine and late nights can’t harm us. Summer’s all about the light colours, and allowing more light

into the house will bring summer indoors too. Not only this, but it will also make your rooms appear larger and more space. Appearing to have more spacious reflects the outdoor air and breeze, preparing you for the summer. A lick of paint can give your house a whole new, fresh look. Perhaps you just want to add another coat to the current colour, or go for a new look and change it completely. Maybe a nice versatile colour for all seasons would suit, like pastel colours.

New Self-Service Check-In Kiosks At Dublin Airport Dublin Airport has invested €2 million to improve the check-in experience for four of its major airline customers.Dublin Airport has installed 62 new selfservice kiosks (SSKs) between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 that will allow the airport and its airline customers to process greater numbers of passengers by increasing the peak check-in capacity. Passengers using the new self-service bag drop kiosks can, depending on the airline, check in for their flight, tag their own bag and dispatch it into the baggage system much faster than would be the case using traditional check-in desks. The new SSKs are initially being used by Aer Lingus, Ryanair, CityJet and Flybe passengers, but several other airlines at Dublin Airport have already expressed

interest in using the same technology. Terminal One now has 15 self-service bag drop units available in check-in Area 13, which is the area used by Ryanair. There are three further self-service bag drop units in check-in Area 7 for common-use by other airlines. Passengers from CityJet and Flybe will be the first to enjoy the benefits of these SSKs. Terminal Two has 44 new self-service units in the Aer Lingus check-in area. The 15 new self-service units in T1 one use a one-step approach. This allows passengers that have checked in online to take their bags straight to the self-service bag drop, where they can print their bag tags, attach the tags and then dispatch the bag straight onto the baggage system. The new system has also been designed so that in the future there is the potential for passengers to be able to make payments at the kiosks for services such as additional bags fast track security and lounge access.
