Local Reps Differ Over Aer Lingus Loot Minister Reilly
With the sale of Aer Lingus all but done and dusted, the question now is how will the government use the €35m proceeds of the sale. Already there has been a clamour from TDs across the country, looking for the completion of transport infrastructure projects for their own areas.

There is no doubt that everyone in the North County, including our public representatives want a light rail transport system to serve the airport and Swords. However, the level of disagreement as to where their priorities lie in this regard, will come as a surprise and disappointment to many.

Etihad Sells Its Aer Lingus Stake Etihad Airlines have now decided to sell its 5 per cent stake in Aer Lingus to IAG, as part of a €1.36bn takeover bid for the national carrier. Chief executive of Etihad, James Hogan, confirmed the planned sale, and said: “We’re keen to maintain a relationship with IAG and indications are that they’re interested in doing so too.” In the process, Etihad has nearly doubled the value of its original investment in Aer Lingus. They spent just over €35 million between
2012 and 2014 for its 26.65m Aer Lingus shares and selling now at €2.50 per share will see Etihad receive over €66.6m for its almost 5 per cent stake. However, it also received a 5 cent per share dividend from Aer Lingus last month, for a total of €1.3m. The dividend is being included by IAG in its calculations of the overall Aer Lingus purchase price. Etihad invested in Aer Lingus with a view to using the Irish airline to deepen its presence in Europe, where it also owns stakes in airlines such as Air Berlin and Alitalia. Under EU rules, Etihad could never own more than 49.9 per cent of Aer Lingus.

Ryanair has said that it will appeal a ruling from the UK’s competition authority to sell down the majority of its almost 30 per cent stake in Aer Lingus. The UK’s competition watchdog, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), issued a final ruling ordering that Ryanair sell down its 29.8 per cent stake in its rival to just five per cent, saying that its stake distorts competition on routes between the UK and Ireland. However Ryanair, in a statement blasted the decision as “ridiculous” and said that it would appeal the ruling. A Ryanair spokesman said: “The CMA decision is manifestly wrong and flies in the face of the current IAG offer for Aer Lingus. The competition regulator had already ruled in April that Ryanair’s stake in Aer Lingus gave it too much control over its

Riddle Of Washing Machine Man Solved Motorists in the North County were amazed last Wednesday at the sight of a man carrying a full sized washing machine on his back along the main road between Balbriggan and Swords and on to Malahide. The man was accompanied by a number of people on his journey.
By Patrick Finnegan The County Leader investigated, upon receiving a call from a passing motorist and our reporter caught up with the man near Blake’s Cross. It turns out that the man, Enda O’Doherty from Waterford, decided to carry the full sized washing machine on his back all the way from Belfast to Waterford to raise funds for Pieta House, the suicide prevention charity. He was on day four of his journey, which brought him through the North County. He was heading to Malahide to meet John O’Shea, captain of the Irish soccer team, who were based there, in preparation for last Saturday’s match against Scotland. It turns out that he was a teacher and taught O’Shea at school in Waterford He told the County Leader, “I’m the organiser of the Pieta House challenge and I’m walking from Belfast to
Waterford to raise awareness of mental health issues in Ireland, where 10 people per week are taking their own lives and the Government just brushes it under the carpet. This is a social issue that needs to be addressed. I also want to raise funds for Pieta House, who provide free counselling for people who need it,” he said. “I decided to carry the washing machine, which is symbolic of the huge emotional weight that people carry throughout their lives. Nobody can see this weight and nobody knows about it. People can hide their problems from friends and workmates. My problem is on my back and it’s very obvious, where my friends know what I’m struggling with and can help me and share my load,” he said. To prove this point, on day two, he became so exhausted that started to hallucinate, such was the impact of the weight he was carrying. He was also suffering from severe blistering of his feet. It was a very symbolic moment for him, which brought home to him the level of suffering of people with mental health issues. Our reporter met up with Enda again in Malahide, and true to his word, three members of the Irish team, John O’Shea, Jonathan Walters and Glenn Whelan turned up to show their support for his herculean effort on behalf of the charity. Founder of Pieta House, Joan Freeman was also there to show her support. A great atmosphere was generated in Malahide by a musical group, called Scoops Music, who are following Enda on his epic journey

Jam Packed Weekend For Malahide Cub Scouts The June Bank Holiday weekend saw two of Malahide Cub packs take part in the mini Jamboree at the National Campsite in Larch Hill in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. This year the theme was “Hero’s on the Hill” and over fifty Malahide Cub Scouts rose to the challenge. Setting up camp back to back, the Ceadaoin and Tonnta packs settled in for a weekend of fun and adventure among almost one thousand other cubs from all around the country. The camp was opened on Friday night when the Cub Scouts and leaders alike were treated to a monster Fireworks display at the opening ceremony. Over the weekend the cubs participated in many superhero feats which involved Water Activities Scouting Skills and of course Bouncy Castles, one of the highlights were the monster Campfire and Disco on the Saturday night. Speaking in Larch Hill, Cub Scout Leader Anna Hickey said that the Malahide Cub Scouts traditionally camp every year on either the May or June Bank Holiday weekends, usually part of a mini Jamboree. The weather is always a concern she added, but we are experienced campers and the high winds and heavy rain showers on Saturday night were easily coped with. It really is the old Scout motto of “be prepared” she added. However, special thanks must go to to the real heroes of the weekend, the Malahide Cub leaders who themselves gave up their Bank holiday weekend to ensure that the cubs had a wonderful time and also had a great deal of fun themselves.

Last Wednesday in Strasbourg Parliament President Martin Schulz decided to defer the scheduled vote on the Transatlantic Trade Investment Programme (TTIP). This vote was to refine the guidance to the Commission’s team as they enter the last phase of negotiations with their US counterparts. The four main parliamentary groups had arrived at a consensus and an agreed voting pact. But its seems that Schulz’s Socialist and Democratic group is so divided on TTIP that it’s leadership cannot guarantee delivery of their commitment thus forcing Schulz to defer the moment. TTIP is a complex series of agreements between Europe and the US. There are many similar agreements already in place between Europe and many of its trading partners. It is supposed to remove trade barriers and have positive effects through standardisation of

compliance issues. Many opposed to TTIP are concerned with the implications of the Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) saying this system of arbitration is a step too far. That if a country decides to implement policies in the interest of the wellbeing of its citizens, which a multinational perceive detrimental to their interests that the ISDS system of arbitration may see the country make large payments in compensation. Those supportive say that without trade there is no room for growth in the labour market, that removing the unnecessary barriers will be good for all. In the latest move of getting the message of opposition across to MEPs campaigners took to the streets around parliament handing out apples tagged “DO NOT SWALLOW: may contain bleach, chlorine, GMOs ...”. This campaign of opposition runs across the EU and is well organised, focused and knows how to get to the MEPs, particularly those who can be presided against the value of TTIP. The deferral of the vote is an embarrassment and will certainly throw the schedule of final ratification by the end of this year into serious doubt. Such a time frame was at best extremely ambitious. To get back on track ISDS may have to be dropped.

Neighbourhood Watch Going Strong In Malahide At a recent meeting of the Malahide Community Forum, the group gave an update on their Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. The forum was represented at the joint police committee meeting. It was a well attended meeting, covering other areas of the North County. Neighbourhood Watch schemes have become a popular
way to attempt to prevent local crime, with many towns around the North County setting up their own in recent months. At the meeting, Sergeant Cox said crime was down in public order and criminal damage areas, but had gone up in burglaries and car break-ins. There are now 32 Neighbourhood Watch schemes in the Malahide and Portmarnock areas alone, and 16 text alert schemes, according to the Sergeant. He also informed attendees that he has “zero tolerance for people who go to drink on the beach and cause problems,” which was well received by the forum.

The Healthy Glow Effect VICHY introduces TEINT IDÉAL BRONZING POWDER the latest addition to its award winning illuminating foundation range. Thanks to a breakthrough innovative formula, combining smart textures and powerful active ingredients, ideal skin is now at your fingertips.
Vichy Teint Idéal Bronzing Powder
The bronzing powder has an extra soft, ultraspreadable and fine texture for a natural healthy glow effect throughout the day. This compact powder combines: A lamellar powder: as a source of softness and glide-on upon application, a “radiance” powder: for luminosity and transparency and pigments for intense colour. The fine texture was obtained thanks to a specific powder micronisation technology. The powders are micronised to help streamline particle size and thereby ensure an even colour deposit together with magnified softness and finesse upon application. The powders are bound to one another thanks to a complex that combines an emollient ester (smooth and rich feel, creamy and comfortable texture) with a spreading agent that ensures softness and easy glide-on upon application. Finally, white shimmer particles were added to the formula to bring even greater radiance and luminosity.

The consultation period will run until Friday 31st July 2015 and I would urge all interest parties in the North County to engage with the consultation process,” he added.

Skerries Library Consultation Process Now Open Green Party general election candidate for the North County, Joe O’Brien has welcomed the opening of the consultation process on the use of the €100,000 allocated by the County Council for improvements to Skerries library. O’Brien said he had initially proposed the idea of greater community involvement in decisions on how to use the funds and added that he has been campaigning on the issue since autumn last year. “The people of Skerries have lots of good ideas about how the library could become an even better community space and these ideas should be listened to. We have a beautiful Carnegie library that could really be pulling more people into the town centre. I think priority for the use of the funds should be ways to get more people using what really is a community space,” he told the County Leader. “While some essential works need to be carried out, I
would urge the Council to give serious consideration to expanding the space in the library. There is a sizeable piece of derelict ground at the back of the library that should be brought into play for the community. Skerries library is extraordinarily small for the size of the town,” he continued. “I have no doubt that all the schools in Skerries would be very interested in using the library more if space allowed and I would encourage the school principals and indeed the children to write to County Council with their ideas.” “The people need to be consulted much more often by both local and central government across the county when its their money that is being spent and their communities that are being impacted,” O’Brien concluded. Consultation forms are available at the library and online on the County Council website.

Unique Project For Swords The County Council Heritage Office needs your memories and photographs, as part of the Fingal Community Excavation Project 2015-16. They are putting together an exhibition of photographs called Swords Castle: My Castle. They are asking people to contribute their photos, memories, drawings, newspaper cuttings, events, paintings, brochures, basically anything you have relating to Swords Castle. The proposal is to make a timeline of all these images which will be exhibited in Swords Castle for everyone to see during Heritage Week 2015 (August 22nd-30th). ‘This is part of a unique programme to re-engage people with Swords Castle’ said Fingal’s Community Archaeologist,
Christine Baker. ‘If there’s a photo of you in the 1970s having a picnic or just enjoying Swords Castle those are the snapshots we want’. Well-known local historian Bernadette Marks will be going through the Swords Historical Society archives. ‘We have loads of photos of activities in the Castle especially since Swords Heritage Festival began in 1987, but we will need to search for anything older,’ Christine continued. To be part of this special project, photographs can be emailed to heritage.officer@fingal.ie or prints can be dropped into the Swords Heritage Centre or ring Christine to arrange collection. All prints, photos and other materials will be scanned and returned safely.
Planning Permission Submitted For New Balbriggan School Local councillor, Malachy Quinn (SF) has welcomed the planning permission application for the construction of a 450 pupil postprimary school at St George’s National School, Balbriggan. The plans include a physical education facility, a special needs unit and support teaching spaces and a phase two extension to accommodate 300 additional
pupils. “With the growth in the school-going population in the north west of the town in the last 10 years, this development of educational facilities is long overdue. The completion of the Castlemill Road in conjunction with this project will enhance the area for its many residents,” Quinn told the County Leader. “School building projects and
infrastructural improvements are the key to developing our local towns and villages Sinn Féin have been instrumental in calling for such investment projects to boost local economies, there is a stark need for companies involved in such projects to aim for a percentage of local labour to be employed in such projects,” he added. “The development of school projects across the North County is required if the Government’s Spatial Strategy for Fingal is to be successful going forward,” he concluded.

With Father’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to start planning what to get the Big Man. Once a year we get the opportunity to fully express our appreciation for our fathers, and so we must choose our gifts wisely. Depending on our father’s tastes and hobbies, the gifts can vary from person to person, so let’s establish the basics. First of all there are the classic gifts, ones you’ve been getting your dad since your mother stopped buying them for you. The classic gifts can have a practical element to them like,
a watch or a classy tie and socks. Yet they can also have an
entertaining element to them too, gifts like films (‘Goodfellas’ and ‘The Good, the Bad an the Ugly’) and CDs
Jameson’s or Bushmills would go down smoothly with the old man. While the classic gifts

becoming more and more popular as Father’s Day gifts. Accompanied with a few sessions of skydiving, these lessons could very well give him the experience of a lifetime. However jumping out of planes, or even simply being there might not be everyone’s cup of tea. If your dad is fond of watching the odd bit of golf, well then it might be a good idea to get him some golf lessons, or go on a golfing trip to some of the many excellent golf courses and resorts dotted across the North County. Perhaps a gift voucher for one of our golf clubs, where he can buy clubs, golf shoes, or clothing. If money is tight, then spend the night out with your father on a pubcrawl across your town, be warned though, this just might be an experience he won’t remember in the morning. It’s always nice to add some personal touches to your gift. It shows that a lot of thought and care was put into choosing the right one. Homemade gifts can make even better presents than shop-bought ones. Something as simple as making a photo frame, or creating your very own Father’s Day card out of home materials can mean a lot. Another idea is to make your father a delicious breakfast first thing in the morning, fry up some pancakes, pour out the orange juice, make up the teapot and cook up a fry. Best way to start Father’s Day is with a full stomach and the breakfast will set the mood for the day to come. If your dad is fond of his technology, well then get him some gizmos and gadgets. They can be useful and practical, like shavers and phones or just cool and fun knick-knacks like a remote controlled helicopter or the retro lava-lamp. With the emergence of a new craze, microbreweries,
which sprang up all over the place in the last few years. Many websites now offer fun microbrewery starter packs for a cheap price. Your dad can make his own beer tailored to his own taste buds, and share it with his friends and family. For something that can be enjoyed by the whole family, a meal out in one of the fine restaurants, or hotels here in the North County will show how much he means to you. You could also arrange for a nice trip away for him with your mother to one of the many fine hotels dotted around the country. You don’t have to spend a fortune to say just how much you care. Think of the simple things that he likes. A day to watch sports, pig out and do whatever it is he likes
to do. Remember that this is his special day. Things like breakfast in bed, renting his
favourite movie (you will surely know one or two of his ‘must have movies’) and
cooking his favourite dinner may very well be simply what the daddy asked for.

With reporter Miriam Fritsch & Daniel Chapman
Q: Daniel Chapman
We asked: “Do you think the sale of Aer Lingus is good for the country?”
Miriam Fritsch
Maria Fagan, Swords Definitely not. They screwed the staff. They should have thought about the result before they sold it. They are selling it to one person and nothing is stopping them to sell it again a year or two later. They have no obligation to the original contract. I think they should have fixed that before they sold it.
Melissa Carey, Swords I do not think that it is a good idea. It is the same as always, the big guys with the big money in their pockets make decisions and they do not care for the people underground. There are a lot of people depending on that and they are not guaranteed the safety of their job.
Mary Mallin, Swords I do not really have an opinion because what they want to do they will do. I have worked with Aer Lingus for a long time and I think it is really sad to see it being sold. It would have been nicer if they didn’t.

thinner ones. Embrace the sun, it’s not everyday we have it. In fact, we most probably spend a third of the year in the dark and cold, a little morning sunshine and late nights can’t harm us. Summer’s all about the light colours, and allowing more light into the house will bring summer indoors too. Not only this, but it will also makes your rooms appear larger and more spacious. Appearing to have more space reflects the outdoor air and breeze. The living room should be the most vibrant, lively room in the house, filled with family members, so decorate your living room to reflect this. pastel coloured throw. Decorate the room with colourful ornaments adding a summery pop of colour. Candles are key to making houses feel like a home. Buy or replace some candles with some subtly sweet ones, similar to summer fruits. There’s nothing more relaxing and homely. Than a candlelit room and subtle lighting. Colourful candles are a great way to add colour, and comfort also. However, be sure to balance out the colour carefully, with the theme of your house. If it is prominently traditional, pastel coloured candles and ornaments will suit better. If however, your living room has a minimalist look, sticking to mainly shaded colours, you may get away with bright, bold colours which add character and dimension to your house this summer. For the bathroom, replace the bath mats and towels with lighter colours. A light scented candle always looks calming and relaxing when lit. Try a fresh scented one, similar to vanilla or sea breeze, these light scents always add to the tone. Perhaps now is the time to try some new bathroom products. Now it’s summer, everything comes to life, including scents, embrace this by opting for a different body wash, perhaps a scented one. Get your garden summer friendly. Freshen the look, just by simply

Imelda Doyle, Swords I am not really sure about it. I suppose there are pluses and minuses. I think it is sad that they are selling it but making it private will give us more opportunities and it might have an effect on the prices. A more fair competition.

pulling out a few weeds from the paving and flower beds. Unfortunately, in the summer, the lawn can becomes high maintenance, with it needing a trim every two weeks. However it is a good excuse to spend some time out in the sun. Sprinkle some grass seeds onto the lawn, this will layer it with a fresh coat, making the lawn look a whole lot healthier. Take this time to decide if your lawn requires levelling, and for other big garden projects, you may need some professional, local landscapers. If there are only small areas that need levelling, you may be able to just use sand, and allow the lawn time to grow through. The North County has some lovely

next year. Trees and shrubs are good all year round plants. They still add life to your garden, and are relatively low main-
tenance. Dress the trees in decorative, clay pots, these will make a great statement piece in your garden. Use this summer to begin something we all push to the back of our lists each year. Grow our own herbs. They’re always useful to make some nice tasteful dishes, perhaps to go with your own, homegrown vegetables. Herbs are arguably the easiest to buy, grow and look after. You can purchase some seeds at low cost from your local gardening centre. Start off small, by looking after a few herbs such as rosemary, chives, and thyme on your kitchen window sill. When you feel prepared to expand, delve into the world of summer and
winter greens; kale, cabbage, and lettuces, the list is
endless. Above all, have fun redecorating or
changing your home and garden around slightly. Ensure it is
a space that reflects you and your family to enjoy this summer.

However time-consuming difficulties with others are, you must explore your options. Initially, this provides intriguing insights, but towards the end of the week you will be putting into practise what you learnt in the past.

The trick to dealing with perplexing situations is to act swiftly and decisively, yet to expect little in the way of response. By all indications take careful note of this advice - and act on it - for what takes place this week.
Kinsealy Boys Football Club held their end of season presentation evening recently. The club has seen significant growth in recent times and the event was very well attended by the players and their families. The evening began with registrations for the 2015/16 season, followed by fun activities for the children, including face painting, bouncy castles, penalty shootouts, raffles and of course lots of goodies. DJ Don provided music and commentary throughout the evening while managers and volunteers ensured everyone was having fun. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of medals to every player, and trophies were awarded to a number of players from each team under the headings of Most Improved Player, Players’ Player and Manager’s Player. The children went home happy, but without doubt, exhausted from the excitement, bouncy castles and football fun. Kinsealy Boys Football Club cater for boys and girls from Academy to under 13 and are always delighted to welcome new players. They train throughout the summer in Kinsealy Court from Monday to Thursday.

Record Passenger May Numbers At Dublin Airport A record number of passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in May. Passenger numbers grew by 13 per cent last month, with more than 2.2 million passengers travelling through the airport. This made it the busiest May ever in the 75 year history of Dublin Airport. “The latest monthly figures from ACI Europe reported that Dublin Airport passenger traffic continues to grow at around three times the European average,” said Dublin Airport Managing Director, Vincent Harrison. Almost 1.2 million passengers travelled
to and from continental Europe in May, a 12 per cent increase compared to last year. UK traffic recorded a 13 per cent increase, with almost 754,000 passengers travelling last month. Passenger volumes to and from North America grew by 13 per cent, with almost 234,000 passengers travelling this route sector in May. Other international traffic, which includes flights to the Middle East, increased by 22 per cent in May, with over 56,000 passengers travelling these routes during the month. More than 6,000 passengers travelled
on domestic routes last month, which was a five per cent decrease on last year. Passenger numbers at Dublin Airport have increased by 14 per cent in the first five months of this year, as almost nine million passengers used the airport. The major increase in passenger numbers means that Dublin Airport has already welcomed more than 1.1 million extra passengers so far this year. “The record growth in passenger numbers is good news for the Irish economy, as a recent economic impact study shows Dublin Airport supports almost 100,000 jobs both locally and nationally. “Every one million additional passengers at Dublin Airport supports more than 1,000 extra jobs in the industry,” Harrison added.

Local Politicians Differ Over Aer Lingus Loot link it in any way to the Aer Lingus sale. This project must go ahead regardless. At the very least they should return some of the profits to pension scheme members who were forced to take savage cuts to facilitate the deal,” he concluded. The power of rural politicians is that they always pull together to get facilities and services for their regions. The sincere hope is that our politicians will not use this issue as a political football.

Local Airlines Recognised At Aviation Industry Awards Willie Walsh, Chief E x e c u t i v e , International Airlines Group (IAG) was announced as the winner of the O u t s t a n d i n g Contribution to Aviation award at the recent Aviation Industry Awards. The awards celebrate excellence and innovation in the aviation industry. Sponsored exclusively by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), the event attracted 650 people from over 80 companies. Willie Walsh was recognised for his many significant achievements to the aviation industry over the years, including the successful reconfiguration of Aer Lingus during the global aviation downturn following 9/11; the restructuring of British Airways into a profitable airline and for his lead role in the merger of BA with Iberia, which created
the International Airlines Group. The Aviation Company of the Year award went to Ryanair (having already been declared the winner of the Customer Service category) for their “Always Getting Better” programme, which was recognised for revolutionising Ryanair’s business over the last 18 months by placing customer service as a cornerstone to the company philosophy and contributing to its € 867 million profit last year. This phase is expected to be fully rolled-out by the end of 2018, as part of the Government’s National Broadband Plan. “This ensures a fast and cost efficient roll-out to every county in Ireland, reversing the digital divide between the capital and regional towns. Balbriggan Students Job Shadow For A Day Some students from Balbriggan recently had the opportunity to job shadow for a day as part of a workplace initiative. The IASE’s national Job Shadow Day gave five local participants on the Reach programme in National Learning Network the chance to job shadow people in the local Garda station, The Law Society of Ireland and the Property Registration Association. All five are currently taking part in the Reach programme in National Learning Network’s satellite centre in Balbriggan.

It is a flexible rehabilitative training course for people who have experienced social isolation as a result of mental health issues. One student, John Kennedy spent the day learning the law of the land with the local Gardai in Balbriggan. “I had a great time. We had a very entertaining morning at the Court. We met the Court reporter. I spent some time with Jim in the public office at the Garda station and I helped to bag up evidence with Garda Barry Griffen in the detective office,” he said. Job Shadow Day is an initiative organised by the Irish Association of Supported Employment and the idea behind it is to encourage integration of people with disabilities with local employers.
Monthly Malahide Club Draw
Pictured are Sarah Burnby and Lauren Burnby from Swords, who took part in the VHI Mini Marathon in aid of the Irish Cancer Society on Bank Holiday Monday last
The ‘1000 Club Draw’ was set two years ago to help with costs associated with the development and maintenance of the of the Pastoral Centre in Malahide and the refurbishment of the church and to alleviate burdens that this places on day to day parish expenses. Each month it has a draw with four prizes: First prize of €1000, second prize of €500, and third and fourth prizes of €250 each. For the twelfth month of the draw there is a Grand Draw with a first prize of €10,000. For the most part, membership is local and so far all prizes have gone to local people. The monthly draw always brings great excitement for those present and organisers hope to organise the monthly draw at a time when more people could conveniently join in the excitement whether or not they are winners.
HSE Launches New ‘Healthmail’ Service For GPs The HSE recently launched a new service ‘Healthmail’, which allows healthcare providers around the North County and beyond, to send and receive clinical patient information in a secure manner. The initial implementation of Healthmail is for General Practitioners (GPs) and their support staff. GPs will be issued with an healthmail.ie email account, which will allow them to communicate patient clinical information with clinicians in primary and secondary care who use Health Service Executive (HSE) or
Voluntary Hospital email addresses. Healthmail accounts are available to doctors registered with the Irish Medical Council, working as a general practitioner and attached to a practice in Ireland. Healthmail is governed by the General Practice Information Technology (GPIT) Group made up of representatives from the HSE, Dept of Health and ICGP. Each Healthmail application is authenticated by the ICGP to ensure the applicant is a bona fide registered general practitioner.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Kathleen Lynch said: “Healthmail is a powerful communications tool for local, primary care clinicians. It will allow them to exchange critical clinical information in a secure way for the benefit of patients. I would like to congratulate all those involved in getting this innovative and timely service off the ground.” The Healthmail service will benefit patients by improving communications within the healthcare community in a private and secure manner. Healthmail has been available since November 2014 and in the first four months of the service over 900 GPs have registered.
