DESERVED RECOGNITION For Skerries And Malahide There was great news for the towns of Skerries and Malahide, when they were included, along with Howth as part of Dublin Coastal Village, as one of the top ten finalists in the ‘Foodie Destinations’ competition 2016. What makes this all the more remarkable is that Howth, Malahide and Skerries are the only coastal villages to be selected to represent all of Dublin, ahead of seaside towns like Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey, Sandymount and other notable seaside towns and villages on the southside of the city. This must be the clearest indication to date that North County Dublin has, at last, been given the recognition it deserves as a true hospitality destination. The competition is organised by the Restaurants Association of Ireland and was previously known as Foodie Towns, the Foodie Destinations competition is searching for Ireland’s premier ‘Food Destination 2016’. The Foodie Destinations initiative was formed as part of the Irish Restaurant Awards 2014 but proved to be so popular it became its own entity in 2015. Its aim is to celebrate Ireland’s unique and wonderful food offerings and to encourage
By Patrick Finnegan local food tourism initiatives across the country. The inclusion of Dublin Coastal Village is being viewed as a tremendous boost for local tourism, with great benefits expected to accrue for Howth, Malahide and Skerries. Indeed Howth entered the Foodie Towns competition last year and was named as a top ten finalist.
The County Leader spoke to John Nealon, proprietor of Blu Bar in Skerries, who was thrilled at the news that Skerries has been included as part of the Dublin Coastal Region, alongside Howth and Malahide. He said, “I think this is great news for the area. Skerries is a real food destination and it’s improving all the time. This is all very positive news for the town. There are some excellent

The reckless actions of a teenage joyrider in a Swords housing estate last Tuesday evening almost caused a tragedy of monumental proportions for residents of Castleview and Ashton Broc estates. A horrified local councillor,
Duncan Smith, who lives in Castleview spoke to the County Leader about the incident. “A joyrider was speeding around the estates of Thornleigh, Castleview and Ashton Broc at high speed. While he was in Castleview, he lost control of the car he was driving at very
high speed, crashed into two kerbs and narrowly missed young children who were playing in the early evening sunshine, by a matter of feet. The car whizzed by the children and ploughed into a wall at one of the houses. It was by the grace of God that nobody was killed or maimed. We were feet away from relegating Pat Hickey to second place in the news. It has left our estate in deep shock,” said Smith. Continued on page 14

restaurants, shops, cafés and pubs here, which make it a great place to visit. We’re very happy to have been chosen,” he said. Adrian Cummins, Chief Executive of the Restaurants Association of Ireland said, “The Top 10 finalists were chosen from a very worthy pool of applications. The reason these destinations made the top ten list is because they all have one thing in common – a great sense of collaboration, community spirit and pride in their destination. Some regions have applied previously and have shown real growth, while some are first Blue Bar, Skerries time applicants who proprietor, John Nealon have something very special to offer to the food-loving tourist. These applications were not the venture of a small group or individual, these were well thought out, energetic and clearly a combined effort. Each of the Top 10 Finalists, like Dublin Coastal Village, are working towards a singular vision of becoming a winning Foodie Destination.” Applications for this year’s competition were received from all corners of the country and on both sides of the border. For the first stage of judging, applications are thoroughly assessed by an independent panel of judges. Though there was tough competition, the top ten ‘Foodie Destinations’ of Ireland in 2016 have been selected and are as follows: Continued on page 14

No matter what culture you belong to, proper manners are always appreciated. As a person growing up under the Chinese culture for more than 20 years, I still find Chinese protocol complicated, where there are many rules to be aware of on different occasions.
By Kwok Yi One of the most important categories must be dining. Chinese people love socialising and having their meals out when they’re with a group. When that involves seniors or elders, more rules have to be kept in mind. Rule number one is always to wait for the eldest to start first, even when you are very hungry. Elders are on the highest rung on the ladder, but of course, guests do not need to follow the tradition. Just

Besides, gifts should always be received with both hands and they are not expected to be unwrapped in front of the presenter. This is to avoid embarrassment in case the receiver shows disappointment towards the gift, which contrasts with how Western people react. Cultures can vary immensely between countries and regions and it’s amusing to learn the way they differ. Certainly, some are tough to understand, but respect is expected for the divergence. Not only does acquiring basic manners bring one quicker to the community, but it also helps impress the locals. Therefore, fill yourself with knowledge of etiquette so that you don’t have to worry about offending anyone.

Rule number three, Kwok Yi never take the last food from the serving platter, or you are just a greedy person with a huge appetite in the eyes of others. After all, food manners are no less significant than the food itself. Another custom which might sound peculiar to the people from the West is the way we receive gifts and compliments. Though it’s an absolute delight to accept them, we usually refuse the gifts or compliments straightaway, along with self-effacing words. An immediate yes will only show one’s arrogance, and that’s not courteous in the Chinese culture.

Irish Water Creating A Stink In Swords In recent weeks, residents in Gartan Drive in Swords, close to the Estuary, have had to endure strong smells from Swords Water Treatment plant beside them. The treatment plant is managed by Irish Water and it is unclear why the problem has occurred. The strength of odour is having a detrimental effect on residents in adjacent estates to the plant. For example, residents are unable to open windows in their homes as a result of the strong smells. The problem is particularity acute in summertime. Speaking to the County Leader on the issue, local councillor, Justin Sinnott said, “I was approached by a resident two weeks ago regarding the increase in the smell emanating from the plant on particular days, which is affecting estates that are within range
By Patrick Finnegan of the treatment plant. These include Gartan Court where, at certain times of the day, residents are unable to open the windows of their homes, due to the smell being that bad. This has a real affect on, not just the quality of life of the people, but the valuation of their homes. It will affect their children if they want to go out on the green to play. My biggest concern for residents is whether there are health implications here,” he said. The County Council have been very proactive on this issue and they have been in contact with Irish Water, whose responsibility this is, to find out what the problem is, as it needs to be addressed very quickly. The Council have advised me that they have raised the problem
with Irish Water who are responsible for the plant. “There are quality of life issues here and people living near this plant cannot be affected in this way, where they cannot open their windows on warm summer days – this is not acceptable and I want to know what the problem is and if there are environmental issues that need further investigation. Sinnott continued, “I just think that this is not acceptable and that people deserve an explanation. Ultimately, Irish Water are the responsible body and they need to give a clear picture of what has happened and find a solution to the problem, which has been ongoing for a good while. It’s unfortunate that it has happened in summer, as people look forward to enjoying their gardens and having barbeques. One of the main problems

Visitors to the demesne were given a chance to experience cricket in a historical setting with all members wearing their whites for the occasion. County Mayor, Cllr. Darragh Butler was in attendance and started the festivities by bowling the first ball on the day. Paul Smyth, Chairperson of The Hills Cricket Club who captained his side on the day, thanked the Castle for organising the event which helped to promote cricket in the North County. Albert Harper, captain of the Balbriggan team welcomed the event and called on the Castle and Council to promote cricket more in the area, with the hopes that the clubs can return next year to ‘Battle for the Castle’ once again.
Ardgillan Castle hosted a cricket match between The Hills Cricket Club and Balbriggan Cricket Club on Sunday 14th August in the demesne. This event was organised by the Heritage Officer and the team in the Castle, to commemorate a cricket match that was held at Ardgillan in August 1829, between Ardgillan Castle and Kenure House. This historical match was the first reference to cricket being played in the North County and one of the first references to cricket being played in Ireland. In honour of the 1829 match, the two clubs held a ‘friendly’ on the lawn in the demesne overlooking the castle and the sea beyond. The weather was on their side and offered spectacular views for those in attendance. Both teams played a great game, with the spirit of the event being cemented with a draw between the clubs. receive the best possible care. In order to do this, we must ensure that there are adequate staffing levels in place,” he said. “The HSE have informed me that the staff shortages have largely resulted from basic nurse grades being promoted to senior posts, and this has caused a number of vacancies at basic grade level. However, from the information I have received, the HSE have attempted to fill these vacancies, but have not successfully done so as of yet. I do not believe the situation as it currently stands can be accepted. It is of the utmost importance to fill these vacancies urgently to ensure the best possible care is provided to every single person in St. Joseph’s Intellectual Disability Services. “The staff that are currently there are doing hard and important work in our community, which benefits people from across the North County. However, until such a time as the existing vacancies are filled, they are surely facing an increased workload. “I believe the appropriate action must be taken to ensure these vacancies are filled with the utmost urgency. The HSE have undertaken a national recruitment campaign to fill these vacancies with limited success. I have communicated my views to the Minister for Health with a view to ensuring appropriate action is taken to fill these important jobs which benefit so many people in our local community,” he concluded.

Digging For History At Swords Castle The second year of the Digging History project, organised by the County Council, commenced on Friday last, 19th August at Swords Castle, as part of National Heritage Week. Fingal County Council Archaeologist, Christine Baker was on hand at Swords Castle to make sure everyone was up to speed regarding what was required. She spoke to the County Leader about the
continuing success of the project. “Basically we are following on from last year’s successful dig. We’re exploring the archaeology of Swords Castle an we are looking for more volunteers to come and dig and access their own heritage,” she said. The dig will continue until 4th September. “Last year we found some medieval walls and an area where people were fish gutting, also plenty of pottery
and tiles, as well a the odd human bone,” said Christine. “This year we are focusing on the history of the stone and looking at the geology. There will be a Geology Day on 24th August at 11am, where an expert will come to give us a talk. On 25th, there will be an Environmental Day. Hopefully we will have a third season of Digging History, as we continue to fill in the history of what was happening within the walls of Swords Castle over the centuries.” Christine was delighted with the fact that 21 people turned up on the first day, despite the lashing rain, which did not deter these hardy souls.

which has led to a feeling of increased isolation in communities. “Fianna Fáil remains fully supportive of our Gardaí and strengthening the concept of community policing. The Confidence and Supply arrangement between Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael commits to increase Garda recruitment to provide an additional 2,000 Gardaí which will lead to an increase in the number of officers assigned to community policing” she concluded.
However, these figures show that this is not happening,” she said. “The North Dublin Garda division has experienced a decrease in the number of officers assigned to community policing in recent years. In comparison to 2011, there are now 27 fewer Gardaí involved in community policing

Local Sinn Féin TD and spokesperson for Health, Louise O’Reilly has said that more adequate investment in the ambulance service is necessary, as the State must guarantee basic levels of care across the country, of which the National Ambulance Service is a key public service. She said, “Many communities across the State experience lengthy and dangerous delays waiting for ambulances. We hear every week stories of people waiting long times, even when in a close proximity to hospitals or dispatch centres. “The State must guarantee basic levels of care across the country. “In our pre-Budget submission last year, O’Reilly TD Sinn Féin committed to an investment of €7.8 million to increase emergency ambulance cover, through the provision of new ambulances and personnel. This year we have committed to increase this investment to €9.47 million in recognition of the great need for more personnel and ambulances across the State to respond to emergency needs. O’Reilly told the County Leader, “According to the most recent census figures, North County Dublin is experiencing a huge growth in population. The North County needs more vehicles to able to keep up with this demand and more personnel to ensure that we can access hospitals and emergency care.” “There is no hospital in this constituency and therefore we have to leave our own area for emergency care. This means that we need to be sure that there are vehicles available when needed. North County Dublin needs at least one more ambulance in the short term and a commitment from the Minister that monies will be ringfenced in the budget to ensure that the provision of ambulance / patient transport vehicles and the personnel to staff them keeps pace with the population.” She continued, “Communities across the country, including here in my own constituency, should not have to experience long and dangerous delays waiting for ambulances. The paramedics and frontline personnel want to ensure quality of care and patient safety and this cannot happen without these commitments in terms of resourcing being followed through,” she said.

Approval To Refurbish Vacant Housing Units Welcomed Local TD, Darragh O’Brien (FF) says new figures obtained by Fianna Fáil show that the Department of Housing has approved funding to refurbish 47 of the 137 housing units that are currently vacant throughout the county. Commenting on the figures, O’Brien said, “In information provided to Fianna Fáil through a number of Freedom of Information requests, we have learned that the Department has approved funding to refur-
bish 47 vacant housing units in the county.” “The continued and committed work of the County Council is critical in providing improved housing in the North County area. I welcome any progress made in alleviating the demand for the supply of homes; however I wish to see further commitment from the Department to assist and support the County Council in refurbishing all 137 units,” he said. “These vacant units could make a significant impact on the demand for supply in the local area. Furthermore, they represent a housing supply which could be quickly renovated by our local authority with a clear strategic direction from the Minister and his Department. Every collaborative effort must be made to ensure that these units are all brought into use as a matter of urgency,” added O’Brien.
Local TD, Brendan Ryan (Lab) has called on the Minister for Transport, Shane Ross to fast track an EU Regulation on noise related operating restrictions at Airports. The regulation came into force on 13th June last, but needs a Government Statutory Instrument to give practical effect to the Regulation in Ireland. Ryan said, “I raised this matter in a Dáil question conscious of the concerns and worries of residents in Swords, Portmarnock, Saint Margaret’s and elsewhere to the North Runway plan from the daa. The EU Regulation calls for a “Balanced Approach” to noise management. This is exactly what
the majority of residents in North County Dublin want in relation to the expansion of Dublin Airport” He continued, “People recognise the economic benefit and the potential for more jobs, but this needs to be balanced Ryan TD with a right for residents to have a peaceful living environment with controls over noise pollution. I am asking the Minister to push ahead with this Regulation and give effect through a Statutory Instrument as soon as possible.” Minister Ross replied to Ryan’s question and said, “Regulation 598/2014 on noise-
Newman Warns Residents To Be Alert Local councillor, Joe Newman (NP) is advising people from the River Valley area to be extra vigilant due to reports that three men attempted to break into a house at Rivervalley Avenue last Friday. He said, “Reports are that the three men were going around checking out houses and I am urging residents to keep a sharp lookout in their areas and to report any suspicious activity to the gardai and to keep in communication with friends and neighbours,” he said. Minister Eases Concerns Over Metro Fine Gael TD, Alan Farrell has raised the issue of the delivery of new Metro North with the Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, Shane Ross TD in the Dail recently. Farrell said; “I believe the delivery of new Metro North is of the utmost importance and must be treated as a priority by the Government. For this reason, I raised the issue with the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport in Dáil Éireann.” “Given the importance of new Metro North to both the Airport, as passenger numbers continue to grow, and to Swords, which is an emerging city in its own right, I have requested that, notwithstanding Brexit and should the fiscal space become available, the Government should do what they can to fast-track the delivery of this vital piece of transport infrastructure for the North County,” he added. “New Metro North is currently going through its planning stages, and
following a new railway procurement order, construction will commence in 2021, with the project being completed in 2026-2027,” said Farrell. Responding to Farrell, the Minister stated “The National Transport Authority and Transport Infrastructure Ireland have commenced preparatory work on the planning and design of the new Metro North project. A dedicated steering group has been established. If additional funding becomes available in the next few years – I am not saying whether it will – the preparatory work being done will position us to make progress with the project in line with the available funding. “Metro North will be a vital piece of national infrastructure. It will respond to the needs of the emerging economy in the medium term and cater for the longer term public transport needs of this strategically important transport corridor,” concluded the Minister.
Next Saturday, 27th August, the Pearl Grogan Cup, Ladies 3 ball Team Scramble competition will tee-off at 4pm.
related operating restrictions at EU airports entered into force on 13th June. However, a Statutory Instrument will be necessary to give practical effect to the Regulation in Ireland. The arrangements for the implementation of the Regulation are being discussed between my Department and the Attorney General’s Office in that context.” “The Regulation concerns the implementation of the “Balanced Approach” to noise management,
a concept developed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation for the process to be followed when introducing noise-related operating restrictions at EU airports. While the process is predominantly an aviation transport issue, there are land-use planning and management considerations which are germane to my colleague, the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government. That Department is accordingly also contributing to current discussions,” concluded the Minister.

The CAO is not the only option available and students should look at alternative options and pathways that are open to them,” she said. Further Education (FE) colleges are an option that students should consider if they did not receive their preferred course in the CAO offers. Senator Clifford-Lee reminds students that “most Further Education colleges are still taking enrolments,
and with classes not scheduled to begin until early - to mid – September, there is still plenty of time to look at your options.” Any students wishing to apply to FE colleges are urged to look at the courses offered, with qualifax.ie and careersportal.ie listing all FE college courses available. FE college courses can also lead into CAO courses through reserved places, and they are an excellent alternative to repeating your Leaving Certificate. Clifford-Lee urges any student or parent with any questions regarding third level courses, the points system, rechecks, CAO queries, apprenticeships and further education to contact the National Parents Council post-primary helpline on 1800 265 165.

Local Companies To ‘Plough Ahead’ Local Enterprise Office Fingal and the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’ Connor
T.D., have unveiled plans for the ‘Local Enterprise Village’, which will be home to 84 small businesses

Back To School With Specsavers Balbriggan As the summer holidays come to a close and children prepare to return to school, there is one exam they should be taking before they step back into the classroom. Specsavers Balbriggan and Santry are warning parents that poor eyesight can have a significant impact on a child’s ability to learn and urging them to schedule an eye exam before the start of the school year. Specsavers Balbriggan store director Brian Brodigan said, ‘Whether your child wears glasses or not, it is important to take them for regular eye tests to ensure that they have normal, healthy vision so that they can fulfil their academic potential. Now is the ideal time to arrange an eye exam for your child to ensure they get the most out of their education. If detected early, some potentially serious conditions can be reversed.’ Specsavers Balbriggan and Santry also have a fantastic range of glasses for younger customers, with fun designs including Finding Dory, Minions and Frozen. All glasses in the €55 range are free with an under-12s’ HSE optical voucher. Plus children can also choose a second pair from the same range, to the same prescription for only €24.

Funding For Council To Take Estates In Charge Local TD Alan Farrell (FG), has said €198,804 has been provisionally approved for Fingal County Council to take 11 housing developments in the North County in charge. He confirmed, “The Minister for Housing, Simon Coveney, has confirmed to me that €198,804 has been provisionally approved for the Council to take 11 housing developments in charge. Now that these developments will be under the remit of the County Council, this work can finally be completed, and families can expect to live in high quality developments that are properly serviced,” he concluded.
Back To School Costs Must Be Tackled Local Sinn Fein councillor, Malachy Quinn has called on the Government to implement the recommendations of the Joint Oireachtas Report on Tackling School Costs published in 2013. Quinn said: “As a father of three young children, I am only too well aware of the crippling costs that parents in the North County face in preparing children for the new school year. children in disadvantaged households, He said. “Here in the North County, St Vincent de Paul has stated that the Back to School period is the next busiest time of year for their organisation, apart from Christmas.” “The costs of sending children to school are presenting a real burden to families and they make a mockery of our so-called free education system. It is high time for this government to act to eliminate the very real barriers to education and put an end to this annual struggle for low and middle income families in North County Dublin,” concluded Quinn.

Tragedy Narrowly Averted In Swords Continued from page 1 “The estate has been faced with massive traffic issues, near misses, joyriders for as long as I can remember. I have long campaigned at Council level for traffic calming measures, including speed ramps to be put in place along Thornleigh Road beside the school, as well as in the estates. We have 700 houses in Castleview and Ashton Broc, many of which front directly on to the road. Speeding is an issue, not just by joyriders, but by visitors and residents alike. We are trying to make our estate as safe as possible for young families. I will continue to call for these speed limiting measures until they are put in place,” said Smith. Local resident, Natalie Rubbathan spoke about
the incident. She said, “I live just across the road from where the incident occurred and I heard the screeches of the car and I thought it was on the main road. I heard the bang of the car hitting the wall. My husband witnessed the whole thing and shouted, “Natalie, the kids.” The car was stuck in the wall and I thought the kids were killed because that’s where they always play,” she said. Another resident, Tracy Dunne takes up the story, “Like Natalie, we heard the screeches of the car from the house and the kids ran in saying that Jamie was nearly killed by a car. We ran out and we were all in disbelief. The teenager ran away and we followed him in our cars. We couldn’t find him, but he returned to the scene with another
person soon afterwards and he was apprehended by Gardai. I said to him that he nearly killed my child and he said he was sorry,” she said. “He said he was 16
years old and bought the car the day before, with no insurance. It’s a miracle that our children weren’t killed. With the speed he was travelling at, the kids wouldn’t have had a
chance. This place is like a race track,” she said. As a positive footnote to this incident, on Thursday evening last, the young joyrider knocked at the doors of parents of the children and he gave a heartfelt and sincere apology for his actions. The parents accepted his apology and are hopeful that a valuable lesson has been learned by the young man.
Deserved Recognition For Skerries And Malahide Continued from page 1 Boyne Valley, Cong, Derry, Dublin Coastal Village (Howth, Malahide and Skerries), Kilkenny, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo, last year’s winner The Burren and The Loop Head Peninsula. Each of these ten finalists will now receive a pre-arranged visit by a pair of independent assessors in the coming weeks. This assessment will be combined with a national public voting campaign where the public can choose their
winning foodie destination out of the ten finalists – this can be done through www.foodiedestinations.ie. Both components will carry equal weight in the overall score. The winning town/destination will be crowned ‘Foodie Destination of Ireland 2016’ in September. Winning the title of ‘Foodie Destination of Ireland 2016’ will provide a competitive edge to towns and regions wishing to promote their areas to incoming tourists.

With summer drawing to a close, there’s still time to get your garden in shape for the upcoming cooler season. A neatly kept garden is the first impression a visitor gets of your house. If you need a major clean-up, you will need to engage the services of a professional landscaper. Luckily there are many such companies here in the North County, who will provide you with a top class service to make sure your garden, the entrance to your home looks at it’s best. A GARDEN POND A water feature in your garden, such as a garden pond, really adds a lovely element to your surroundings. There are all kinds of different ways in which you can include a garden water feature in your garden. To decide which type of garden pond design, or water feature, suits your own needs and your own garden best, be sure to call in some professionals who will help you make the best choice. The North County boasts some of the most esteemed companies around, who will come in and take care
of all your needs in t h i s r e g a r d . Some other tips to note when choosing your pond: take care of you’ve little ones running around, but as long as you do it doesn’t mean you can’t have a pond or garden water feature - just choose a water feature with no standing water or fit a pond with a sturdy grille over the top, for safety, or a secure fence all around. Choose a pond or water feature which suits the size of your garden, and fits with your chosen garden theme. I f y o u ’ r e unsure of how you might maintain your pond, perhaps a smaller water feature is a good idea? These can be easier to maintain, but still allow you to enjoy water in your garden.

Is Putin a Puppeteer? Last week I wrote of the fears of a new encroachment on the Ukraine by the Russian Federation. The level of concern increases as Russia upscales the level of their military along the border and the government in Kiev talks of introducing the Draft to supplement its armed forces. While tensions increase there is speculation that Putin may be creating the crisis to force negotiations with the US on a new divide on “spears of influence” for both powers. The current trade sanctions imposed against Russia, following the annexing of Crimea last year, are having an impact, not only in their intended target, but also amongst those applying the sanction. This seems to be the case in Latvia where Green/Farmer members of the Coalition Government had meetings “on the side” with some of their former Russian Counterparts. But the Lady in Berlin shows no intention of removing the sanctions claiming that there are no bases for doing so. Meanwhile, Turkey’s President Erdogan’s political establishment are still smarting following the failed coup and the lacklustre response of the EU member states in their condemnation of the action which they say was a direct attack on democracy. Having seen off the coup, the government are still

faced with ongoing attacks from Kurdish rebels now with car bomb attacks in the eastern part of the state. While the Kurdish Workers Party is blamed for these, the Government insists that the terror is controlled by the followers of the Muslim Cleric, Fethulah Gulen whom By Cathal Boland they are seeking to extradite from the US. Erdogan has recently met with Putin easing the tensions between their governments and perhaps sending a signal to the west in the process. He has also committed himself to a permanent solution to the Cyprus issue which has seen the island divided for the past forty years. It seems likely that a common Government with some form of power sharing arrangement will be established on the Island by the end of the year. Spain has operated with a caretaker government since the start of the year. The voters and the media are now demanding that a Government be formed. The Ciudadanos members of Parliament have now entered talks with the caretaker PM’s, Rajoy’s PP Party. Agreement between these two groups will not be sufficient to provide a majority to confirm Rajoy as PM, but it seems that the Socialists will do a Fianna Fail and abstain to allow the two to govern as a minority coalition. It will be interesting to see how successful the Socialists are in raising their credibility with the voters under the agreement.

process is designed to staff the organisation with new employees, and it uses many different recruitment sources, including advertising to attract the right talent in the defined quality and within a defined time. This process has several goals, including finding the best talents for the vacancies. These include managing the recruitment sources, managing the vacancies in the organisation, running the internal recruitment process and building the strong HR Marketing platform. Searching for that dream job is a full-time job in itself. The candidates select the organisation, which is recognised for being modern and competitive. The job adverts and job offers have to reflect this. Trawling through job vacancies, tailoring your CV, writing cover letters, filling out application forms, phone interviews, face-to-face interviews…there’s a lot to do. Your job hunt can easily get out of control. You may send your CV off to lots of different companies and get responses coming through here and there. But how do you know if you need to follow up on an application? Do you have a structured way of knowing where you should be and for what interview? Have you had the opportunity to do enough research into the job and organisation you’re applying for? It is very advisable for candidates who
have applied for a position in a particular organisation and have been selected to go for interview, to do extensive research on the history of the company. This shows employers that you ae interested in working for that company. Proper preparation is key to landing that dream job.
