URGENT ACTION NEEDED NOW! A recent report in a national newspaper regarding public order crime in the top 20 Dublin Garda districts, has included Swords, Balbriggan and Skerries in that list. The same report relating to drug offences includes Swords in its top 20 list of Dublin Garda districts. General election candidates, Cllr Tony Murphy (Independent Alliance) and Senator Darragh O’Brien (FF) are blaming the lack of resources for Gardai and the local drug task force as the

reason that Swords, Balbriggan and Skerries appear on. Fine Gael TD, Alan Farrell countered by saying that the manner in which these statistics have been presented is misleading and sensationalist. “The breakdown of the top 20 Garda districts in Dublin is presented, when there are actually only 8 districts.” He blamed Fianna Fail and the Green Party coalition for closing Templemore and that Fine Gael in Government reopened the Garda Training

College in Templemore in September 2014. Regarding the lack of resources to counter drug abuse, Vince Rellis, manager of the North Dublin Community Care Service said, “We can report no progress by the Minister to address the serious inequity in service and resource provision for North County Dublin and that within three weeks of his visit to Swords, there was a tragic reminder of the human impact of this lack of action.” See our full report on Page 18
