Lusk Unveils Christmas Card and Calendar

Lusk Tidy Towns By Jennifer McShane Association recently @TheCountyLeader unveiled its Christmas card and calendar last Friday, 15th November at Murray’s Top Shop. This is the 19th year the group has created the popular greeting cards which is quite a milestone for the group. The guest of honour on the evening was Senator Darragh O’Brien (FF), who was on hand to launch the cards and the occasion attracted a good crowd. Chairperson of Lusk Tidy Towns, Pat Kelly told the County Leader that she looks forward to the card launch and enjoys preparing for it in the busy run up to Christmas: “We’re always delighted to launch our Christmas cards,” she said. “And with so many people emigrating and living aboard, it is a lovely to have

a reminder of home on their mantelpieces at Christmas.” Local councillor, Ken Farrell (Lab) also said a few words on the day and the event was also attended by the local priest. The cards are of Lusk scenes and have been very popular with people both at home and away. This year, a one page calendar has also been produced, which contains a picture of the well know Clay Cottage in Lusk, which received a top prize at the recent Cleaner Communities awards. The cards cost €1, with all proceeds going to the local group. Cards and the calendar are available in local shops. “We would just like to thank everyone involved in making the cards, and all the local businesses throughout the community for donating the lovely spot prizes,” she concluded.
