The Star Pub, which is located at the junction of Main Street and Chapel Lane closed last Monday week, with the loss of approximately 30 jobs. Reports suggest that staff were told about the closure just a few hours prior to the pub closing. Local Sinn Fein councillor, Philip Lynam knows many of the staff members personally and he spoke about their shock at the sudden closure of the pub. He said, “This was a family run business and it’s sad

We were on Main Street at the time and they helped each other and even lent staff to each other. The County Leader also spoke to Peter Curran, a local senior citizen who has been a regular customer for food since his wife passed away eight years ago. He said, “They were very good to senior citizens, where we could get a lovely meal for as little as €6.
