Emotional Reilly Speaks Out Local Minister, Dr James Reilly broke down five minutes into a radio interview last week, while talking about his son, who has autism and the discretionary medical cards. Dr Reilly was speaking to RTE presenter, Ray D’Arcy about his tenure as Minister for Health and said that he regrets the discretionary medical cards, “That’s what upsets me most,” he said. In an emotional moment, he said, “I had no real choice because of the money situation we found ourselves in. I never thought that’s where I’d end up as Minister and as a parent of a child with a disability, taking cards off children with a disability.” “I’m very glad that situation was rectified before I left, in terms that it stopped and a review group was put in place.” He briefly broke down when speaking about his second son, Jamie who was diagnosed
“Investment in children is the biggest return that you will ever get” - Dr. James Reilly TD with autism. He voice quivered as he told D’Arcy, “I hope I can hold it together for this. I sat at the end of the bed and I still remember, I suppose, crying there
with my wife, as we looked at our beautiful boy.” He continued, “We thought his future was gone, but thankfully we were wrong. The one message I would give to parents is, let nobody set a limit on your child’s horizon. We were told that he was mentally handicapped. We were told not to worry. “We went to England and we got him assessed there. We were told he did have autism. The mistake made by the psychologist unfortunately was that he used a verbal tool to assess a non verbal child. And when he started talking at five, the doors started opening,” he said. A proud Dr Reilly then spoke of the determination of his son in coping with his condition. “He got to go to normal school when he was 11 and he’s progressed from there. He’s got an honours degree from Trinity in genetics and a masters in biotechnology from Queens and he’s studying for a PhD in autism and stem cell research,” he said. Continued on page 16

SUPPORT DEMANDED FOR FISHING COMMUNITY Local Sinn Fein councillor, Malachy Quinn has called for more support for dwindling fishing communities throughout the North County. He was about the issue speaking at the Party Ard Fheis in Derry recently. “All along the coast of the North County there are fishing communities struggling to make a living, the continuous attacks on Irish Fishing Quotas by Europe over the years have brought the Industry to its knees. The lack of real leadership on the issue by previous Governments & MEPs have only served to facilitate Cllr. Quinn this,” Quinn said. “That said, I am concerned that the fishing industry is not attractive to young people throughout the locality due to decades of neglect by successive Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Labour governments, who have continuously ignored coastal communities,” he continued. “Sinn Féin has a strong team at home and in Europe, and with my colleagues Matt Carthy MEP for Midland’s North West, our fisheries spokesperson in the Dáil Martin Ferris TD and Minister Michelle O’Neill, we will continue to address these issues and stand up for Irish fishermen and coastal communities in the North County and beyond,” Quinn concluded determinedly.

The first phase of the project, which is currently underway, involves two months of earth moving and drainage work after which contractors will begin laying the concrete that forms the top layer of the new parking area. The parking stand project also includes the replacement and upgrading of drainage infrastructure, and the provision of underground surface water attenuation and storage. These environmental measures will ensure that all surface water run-off from the new parking stands will be collected and released in a controlled and carefully managed way back into the local water system. “We take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and this project will be delivered to the highest environmental standards,” Mr Harrison said. The construction work is being carried out by Clare Civil Engineering, which will have up to 30 construction staff on site at any one time. The project, which is known as Apron 5G, is due to be completed in April 2016, and also includes additional high mast lighting and a new electrical substation.

Delightful Gesture By Swords Girl By Jennifer McShane An 11-year-old girl from Swords has decided, in what is an extremely kind-hearted gesture, to donate 14 inches of hair to charity. Leigha Martin who lives in Swords, after letting her beautiful hair grow for over a decade, decided that she wanted to donate her hair to the Rapunzel Foundation, a charitable organisation that works to improve the lives of those living with hair loss (alopecia) through fund raising as well as through collecting hair for Leigha displays her hair, which will be used as a wig by Rapunzel Foundation for children with cancer use as wigs. New Masterplan For Balbriggan Residents in Balbriggan will be very happy to hear that the County Council intends to prepare a new masterplan for the town. This comes after a new Cultural Plan was devised for Swords. The purpose of the masterplan is to bring a much needed lift to the area. Local, Balbriggan-based councillor Gráinne Maguire (Ind) expressed her delight at the news, after the Council revealed their plans, following her motion requesting that
the Bracken River in Balbriggan be cleaned up this year. In response to her question, the Council said that while there were no immediate funds to carry out the works needed in this location, they planned to devise a masterplan for the town, which would include a clean up of the river. “The works required at this location amount to an extensive body of work which
rienced losing some of her eyelashes. “When Leigha told me she wanted to cut her hair, I was very sceptical at first, and I wasn’t that keen for her to do it, but when she told me she wanted to donate her hair to children who had lost theirs, what could I say? It’s a wonderful thing to do, and Leigha knows what its like a little as she has lost some her eyelashes in the past,” she said. A chirpy Leigha said she was happy to do it, and told her parents that she definitely wanted to donate her hair to charity. “We decided to ask Rapunzel if they would take my hair and they said yes.” Though Leigha felt a little nervous when the time came to cut her long locks, she handled it like a trooper, and said that she knew her hair would grow back again. “My family are also giving me some money to donate to the charity,” she said, happily adding that she was proud to be helping other children.
would involve significant human resources and financial commitment,” the local authority said. “While the Council does not have a budget to carry out any works at this Cllr. Maguire time, it is planned to prepare a masterplan for this area in conjunction with Balbriggan Tidy Towns this coming year and the cleaning and improved access to the
river will form part of this plan.” Maguire was happy with the response, and told the County Leader: “The canal area is a hidden gem in Balbriggan and its needs to be enhanced and developed including the cleaning of the river and so I welcome the concept that a master plan be done, so that there is a future for this part of Balbriggan,” she said.

Skerries Girl’s Petition To Save Quarry
By Patrick Finnegan A Skerries schoolgirl has launched an online petition, in an attempt to prevent a quarry near her home town from being turned into a landfill site. Tara McGonagle, who is a third year student at Skerries Community College, told the County Leader about how she started this petition. “I was part of Foróige, which is a large youth organisation, and I completed a course in Youth leadership and Community skills. At the end of the course, I had to get a goal and mine was to prevent Milverton Quarry on the outskirts of Skerries from being turned into a landfill site. The site is operated by Roadstone group. They want to fill the void there with natural substances, like rubble and soil, which will have a detrimental effect on wildlife in the area, including peregrine falcons, which live there,” she said. This is when plucky Tara sprung into action. “I drew up an online petition on Petitions 24 and I wanted to see where it would go. I wanted to draw attention
Pictured is Skerries girl, Tara McGonagle, who has raised an online petition against Milverton Quarry being turned into a landfill site
to Roadstone’s plans and people were outraged. Not only would wildlife be affected, but it would cause traffic chaos on a narrow road, which is the main thoroughfare into Skerries from Dublin. We had 765 signatures, which have been submitted to the authorities. I didn’t lodge a formal objection myself, as it was too late when I found out, but an objection was lodged already by a lady from Skerries. I still hope to get more signatures, even though the objection has been lodged, and maybe a protest meeting can be planned,” concluded a determined Tara.

Dublin Airport Welcomes New Ethiopian Route

Enjoy a two night mid week relaxing Easter break
Ethiopian Airlines is to launch a new route from Addis Ababa to Los Angeles via Dublin this summer. Dublin Airport will gain two new yearround direct routes as a result of this decision, as Ethiopian will be selling both the Dublin-LA segment and the DublinAddis Ababa segment separately. Ethiopian will operate three return flights per week from Addis Ababa to Los Angeles via Dublin using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The aircraft will have a two-hour stopover in Dublin. Ireland has granted Ethiopian what are termed fifth freedom rights, which enable the airline to sell tickets on all sectors of the new Addis Ababa to Los Angeles route. The Dublin-Addis flight will connect with Ethiopian’s extensive African network. DAA Chief Executive, Kevin Toland said the new routes would enhance Dublin Airport’s position as a growing hub for transatlantic flights. “We are delighted to welcome Ethiopian Airlines to Ireland. This new service will reconnect Dublin with Los Angeles and also brings unrivalled connectivity into Africa, as Ethiopian has the largest number of African destinations of any airline.” Ethiopian has connections
from its Addis Ababa hub to African destinations such as Johannesburg, Khartoum, Lagos, Nairobi, and Zanzibar and the new Dublin flight will be timed to offer the best range of possible onward connections in Africa. Los Angeles will be Dublin Airport’s fourteenth direct destination in North
America, according to Toland. “Dublin Airport has significantly expanded its transatlantic network over the past three years and this new service will add a second west coast destination alongside the existing Dublin-San Francisco route,” he said. Dublin was the seventh

Newman Happy With New Footpath A new pathway has been built at Castleview estate in Swords, which will facilitate the safe passage of children from the estate to access the local schools nearby. Local councillor, Joe Newman (NP) was instrumental in having this vital pathway built, and he has been canvassing the Council to have it built for some time. Newman told the County Leader, “This issue came up at the doorsteps in this area when I was canvassing for the local elections early last year. I was approached by one of the residents, Joe Billings, who had concerns about the lack of a proper footpath in Castleview,
particularly as many children use this area to walk to school. He asked me to make representation to the Council to have this seen to. Prior to this, they had to cross a busy and dangerous road, which was completely unsatisfactory,” he said. When I was elected, I followed this up with Council official, Fergus O’Carroll, who inspected the area and agreed that a footpath was needed. Happily, they have kept their work and the new footpath means a safer passage for children to their schools nearby. Mr Billings has expressed his and residents’ happiness with the new arrangement,” concluded Newman.

Everyone deserves a little ‘me’ time and you need to look no further than Swords for the ultimate pampering destination. Swords has a wide range of beauty parlours, hair salons, pharmacies and more, so you can find everything you need for a completely revitalising experience. You can have a beauty makeover at any of the beauty salons in Swords, which each provide top quality beauty treatments for anyone who wishes to have them. The friendliness and professional services, provided by the local staff will ensure you have an experience to remember. If you’re looking for a transformation hair-wise, the town has expert barbers and hair salons that can give you a fresh style that will enhance your natural features.
The salons have a number of great deals on offer as well, so keep an eye out for these. In recent years alternative health care (health care that doesn’t involve pumping your body full of chemicals that were never supposed to be there) has become increasingly popular. Even though it’s true that the pace of life does at times outpace the person living it, we should make it an imperative venture to learn how to relax. Meditation, or a soothing massage is far more effective than one might consider. For other health services you might need, your local pharmacy can provide you with anything you may need. As well as taking care of all your medicinal needs, your pharmacy offers a number of other services.
There will usually always be a range of beauty products and toiletries on sale. Many of these will also be on special offer. Most pharmacies around Swords will have a photo bar and a nail technician. They usually also have a qualified beauty therapist on hand to give you any beauty advice you may need or alternatively offer you a range of treatments. Pharmacists will of course be there to give you expert health advice. They are able to offer advice about minor ailments, such as coughs, colds, cold sores and general aches and pains and are also well trained to offer advice and support on other health issues – such as weight loss, giving up smoking and emergency contraceptive.

n’ts o D d n a s o D Fake Tan: Even though it seems miles off, our summer holidays aren’t too far away and soon it will be time for many women to start thinking about topping up their tans. Having a fake tan can give a slimmer and healthier appearance and many people self-tan before summer arrives or prior to going on holiday so as not to look like a ghost on the beach! Knowing how to care for your tan, so it doesn’t fade unevenly will ensure you stay looking like a bronzed goddess. “I get asked many questions about selftanning on holiday as no-one wants to come back with a dry, flaky tan,” Noelle O’Connor, Founder of TanOrganic
Stylist Lisa Fitzpatrick Is On The Road Throughout the months of April and May, fashion stylist Lisa will be visiting counties around the country with her roadshow Lisa Fitzpatrick’s Fashion Fix. The fun filled day will include Style Workshops, Hair and Make-up Masterclasses, Fashion Shows, Surprise Celebrity Guests and more. An expert in Style and Beauty, Lisa has produced
and self-tan expert. Below are a few frequently asked questions about applying fake tan: Will Swimming Ruin My Tan? Wait at least eight hours after tanning before submersing yourself in water. Although chlorine in swimming pools and salt in sea water won’t make your tan go streaky, it will make it fade more quickly so make sure you take extra self-tan with you on holiday to top it up. Will My Fake Tan Protect Me From The Sun? The simple answer to
this is NO. It is, however, a common misconception that the darker your skin is, the less you will burn. This is totally false so wear sun cream and try to stay out of the sun. Will Applying SPF Sun Cream Streak My Tan? Fake tan won’t protect your skin from sun exposure so it’s important to apply a high SPF factor sun cream over your fake tan. Opt for a DHA-friendly sun lotion to avoid streaks. As with all queries about fake tan, it is important to look after it, reapply when necessary and keep skin exfoliated and well-hydrated.

Sinn Féin councillor, Daire Ní Laoi has welcomed the County Council’s second Irish Language Scheme, which was launched in County Hall last week. Under the Scheme, which will be in force for the next three years, the Council aims to facilitate those who wish to conduct their business in Irish, and to build on the existing level of services currently being provided in the Irish Language. “I’m very much looking forward to the implementation of this scheme,” Ní Laoi said. “Residents have a right to expect a certain level of service from this Cllr. Ní Laoi Council, regardless of which of our official languages they choose to use. I am cautiously optimistic about the future of the Irish language in the North County.” “Chief Executive of the County Council, Paul Reid announced the appointment of an Irish Language Officer within the Council. Also, just prior to the launch of the Language Scheme today, we saw over 20 members of the Council’s staff being awarded certificates in respect of Irish language courses they’ve completed. These are very encouraging signs of the support for our native language within this Council,” she added. “In addition to the above, a ‘Coiste Gaeilge’ comprising a number of councillors, Council officials as well as representatives from various Irish Language Organisations, will be established within the Council in the coming months, in order to actively promote the language within the Council and the whole of the North County,” she concluded.

New Japanese Garden Opened At Rush School
Pictured are St. Joseph’s Secondary School students and winners of a two-week internship at Fujitsu, Emma King and Shauna Bernard, with Mr Asakawa and Mr Kawana, Embassy of Japan and and Regina Moran, CEO, Fujitsu Ireland
St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Rush, Ireland’s first ‘College for Every Student’, last week hosted the final wrap-up session of the 2015 Fujitsu School Business Partnership Programme. The session was attended by members of Fujitsu Ireland team, and Yosuke Kawana of the Embassy of Japan, who opened a new Japanese Garden in the school. Fujitsu Ireland awarded certificates and provided feedback to 27 fifth year students who took part in latest round of the Fujitsu School Business Partnership Programme in February. Two lucky students, Emma King and Shauna Bernard, also won a two-week internship with Fujitsu Ireland this summer, where they will work with various departments across the Fujitsu Ireland business, including Human Resources, Marketing, Software Development and Finance. The purpose of the Partnership Programme is to introduce students to the various career options available to them in the ICT Industry, as well as prepare them for the working world that awaits them when they leave school. CVs, cover letters, interview skills and networking are all included in the programme and almost 100 students have taken part since it began four years ago. Patricia Hayden, Principal of St. Joseph’s Secondary School, said: “We were delighted to welcome Fujitsu and the second secretary of the economic section in the Embassy of Japan, Mr Kawana to our school, following another successful year of the programme, and to open our brand new Japanese Garden. We look forward to working with Fujitsu again next year and introducing a new class of students to the programme.”

effect in improving the town centre. An example of this has been the recent, highly successful Public Realm Plan, which included the wishes and aspirations of the residents. This has resulted in shop fronts with lovely colours and floral displays, which has led to some friendly competition between retailers. The result of which is that the town now has a very inviting look and feel to it that makes you want to shop here. This scheme was a great success mainly because it had the full support of all the local agencies, as well as the Balbriggan Chamber of Commerce, and the County Council. This cooperation has culminated in a town that is
vibrant and a joy to visit. There is now a great ease of access to the town, which people can visit by an excellent road and rail network. The primary benefit is that it brings visitors to the town in a matter of minutes, wherever you live in the North County. It also opens up the town to visitors from outside the North County area. In past years, there had been a flight of shoppers from the town in search of other areas, but now, with it’s wide selection of top class shops offering excellent value, locals now stay at home to avail of wonderful bargains. The other major benefit to Balbriggan, is the presence of two major shopping centres on the outskirts of the town one on Naul Road and the other at Castlemills. These new shopping centres have breathed new life into the communities where they are located. They have also been instrumental in attracting visitors from far and wide, where access from the motorway has changed the whole dynamics of shopping in the area. Shoppers can avail of some excellent retail units and places to unwind in comfort here. No longer is it necessary to travel to Dublin to find High Street retail outlets, incurring expensive parking fees along the way, if you’re lucky enough to find anywhere to park. Many of these shops are right

here in Balbriggan, as well as free car parking in some instances. There is, of course, the added benefit of visitors to the shopping centres taking time to pay a visit to the town centre. These are shoppers who can now easily access the town centre, who would not otherwise have come here. Now they have the chance to experience many of the lovely shops in the town, as well as the historic harbour area of the town. Right from the moment you approach Balbriggan from the Dublin side, the first thing you see is the impressive roundabout, which leads on to Dublin Street. Much improved signage is another aspect of the town, where visitors can clearly identify their location in the town. From here as far as the impressive St George’s Square, there is an array of fine shops, where shoppers can have a great choice of the finest produce. St George’s Square itself is very reminiscent of a continental town square, and it is a natural place for residents and visitors alike to sit and enjoy the fine architecture and watch the traffic pass by. This area houses the public library. As you proceed up the town, it becomes very evident that Balbriggan is a town brimming with life and very clearly open for business. There is always a busi-
nesslike atmosphere, where retailers display their wares in lovely well kept, attractive shops which draw you in. A great range of retail shops has emerged in recent years, including ladies and gents fashions, carpet shops, bridal wear, beauticians, designer jewellery, pharmacy gift shops,
exotic food stores, and many more, complemented by an excellent mix of restaurants, cafes, bars and high end hotel accommodation with family entertainment. It is quite clear that, with the great efforts of the community, Balbriggan is now a destination of choice for many people looking for that elusive bargain. You are much more likely to find it here than in times past. The tourist office in Quay
Street gives a clear indication that the town is prepared to attract as many visitors as possible. At long last, tourists will have somewhere to find vital information about the wonderful local amenities of the town and it’s hinterland. This much needed facility is a great addition to the town and the
hope is that festivals can be regularly held here in the near future. As Balbriggan is a seaside town, angling and other marine pursuits can now be fully exploited through information available at the tourist office. Already there is a very successful annual Summerfest, which takes place in summer, which showcases the exceptional community spirit which is evident in the town. Balbriggan can also
boast an excellent rail service to the town. The train station is located at Railway Street, where there has been a wonderful effort to revamp this area, which is earmarked as the Cultural Quarter of the town. Travelling by train is an ideal means of transport for people from nearby towns like Rush, Lusk and
Donabate, who may want to visit by train and leave the car at home. The first impression a rail visitor gets of the town is a positive one. Fumbally Exchange is located here, which has invigorated this street and has brought an increased footfall to the area. When you’re not enjoying retail therapy in the town, Balbriggan has much more to offer it’s visitors. As it’s a seaside town, a short
walk on a fine summer’s day will bring you to the quaint harbour, with it’s lovely lighthouse. Adjacent to the harbour is a fine sandy beach, with safe bathing for children and the entire family. After you’ve enjoyed your lunch in one of the many fine restaurants or pubs in the town, nearby Ardgillan Demesne is a must visit location. It is situated a few miles from the town and it affords magnificent views over the Mourne mountains and the Irish Sea and is an ideal place for that family picnic, or that healthy walk. There’s a freshness about Balbriggan and it’s obvious that you are in a town that is serious about looking after it’s residents and much valued customers. Great bargains are to be had on every street in the town. There’s also a feeling here that Balbriggan is a very friendly place to shop, where there’s time for the customer, not the fast buck and where the butcher will know you by name and the advice from the hardware counter will go way beyond just DIY. These are old fashioned values and they ensure that visitors will return time and again to get that extra special service that only Balbriggan can offer. So come on, what’s keeping you!You will leave the town with a smile and a barging to boot.

Mulville Wants Alternate Portrane Construction Route Paul Mulville, Independent councillor for the Swords local electoral area, is one of the
local councillors who recently tabled an emergency motion, at the County Council’s recent

O’Brien Welcomes Consultation On Skerries Library Plans Green Party representative for the North County, Joe O’Brien has welcomed the County Council plans to consult with the public on the planned use of the €100,000 allocated for refurbishment of Skerries Library. Last year, O’Brien campaigned for the County Council to pilot a participatory budgeting process on the funds allocated for the library. This would have involved the community leading the decision making process on the use of the funds. He held a public meeting last year in Skerries at which an expert in participatory budgeting from England spoke. While the Council have not decided to run a participatory budgeting pilot on the library funds, O’Brien welcomed the move as progress. “I am glad to learn that the Council will formally look for
As spring is here at last, there’s no better time to revive your home for a new season. A new rug here, a fresh coat of pain there with some new accessories for your rooms, and you’ll feel like you’ve moved into a brand new house! Here are a few tips to ensure spring
takes centre stage in your home over the next few weeks. You may be in the mood for some major reconstruction, or possibly just want to make the house more summer friendly. Whatever you’re thinking of, County Leader have gathered some tips to hopefully inspire you to
the views of library users as to how the €100,000 should be used in the library. The people of Skerries have lots of good ideas about how the library could become an even better community space and these ideas should be listened to. We have a beautiful Carnegie library that could really be pulling more people into the town centre. I think priority for the use of the funds should be ways to get more people using what really is a community space,” he said. “ I would urge the Council to give serious consideration to expanding the space in the library, there is a sizeable piece of derelict ground at the back of the library that should be brought into play for the community. Skerries library is extraordinarily small for the size of the town. I have no doubt that all the schools in
get started. It is possible to change the look of your home, on the outside and inside, on just a small budget. Businesses in the North County have some great spring offers to give you the best bargain, and improve your summer home on a small budget.

Lighten Up With the brighter evenings and longer days, there’s no longer a need for drab colours and heavy materials. Here is a season where your surroundings should be light and breezy to reflect springtime. A popular tip is to replace those heavy winter curtains for lighter, thinner ones. Embrace the sun, it’s not everyday we have it. In fact, we most probably spend a third of the year in the dark and cold, a little morning sunshine and late nights can’t harm us. Summer’s all about the light colours, and allowing more light into the house will bring summer indoors too. Not only this, but it will also make your rooms appear larger and more spacious. Appearing to have more spacious reflects the outdoor air and breeze, preparing you for the brighter months ahead.
Skerries would be very interested in using the library more, if space allowed and I would encourage the school principals and indeed the children to write to the County Council with their ideas,” O’Brien Pictured here is Joe O'Brien at added. Skerries Library. “I have asked for further clarification from the Council as to when the consultation will start but I would suggest that people start getting in touch with the Council now and get your proposals and ideas in early,” he concluded.
Revive Your Living Room The living room should be the most vibrant, lively room in the house, filled with family members, so decorate your living room to reflect this. There’s no longer a need for these thick, wooly blankets on couches, if you tend to use one for comfort, replace the blanket with a nice, pastel coloured throw. Decorate the room with colourful ornaments adding a summery pop of colour.
Spring Candles Candles are key to making houses feel like a home. Buy or replace some candles with some subtly sweet ones, similar to fresh fruits. There’s nothing more relaxing and homely, than a candlelit room and subtle lighting. Colourful

candles are a great way to add colour, and comfort also. However, be sure to balance out the colour carefully with the theme of your house. If it is prominently traditional, pastel coloured candles and ornaments will suit better. If however, your living room has a minimalist look, sticking to mainly shaded colours, you may get away with bright, bold colours which add character and dimension to your house this spring.

Fashion Fundraiser For Swords Church As part of the fundraising effort to raise funds for the restoration of St. Columba’s Church in Swords, a very successful ‘Swish the Rails’ event took place on Friday, 6th March last in the Old Borough School Parish Hall. The hard work by the fundraising committee in preparation for the evening, which included the gathering of an extensive amount of new and next-to-new clothes, assembly of clothes rails and catwalk for
the models paid off handsomely, with a return of almost €3,500. The situation with regard to restoring St Columba’s Church continues apace. Two years ago, a section of the ceiling in the chancel collapsed, forcing the church to close. A collective decision was made by parishioners to try to reopen, rather than let this beautiful church fall into disrepair. A fundraising committee was set up to raise funds to resolve the
ceiling problem, and a host of additional faults including the electrics, heating, plasterwork, windows. Fundraising committee member, Derek Evans told the County Leader, “Throughout 2014, the committee worked strenuously to raise funds and with generous grant-aids from Fingal County Council and Irish Georgian Society, donations and fundraising events, it was possible to resolve the ceiling problem and reopen the church
before Christmas. Our next undertakings are the electrics and

Will Positions Shift To Hold EU Together? The old guard of the EU establishment still struggles to cope with the style and tactics of the new Greek Government. A group not used to being down faced, they find the new circumstance where the Greeks will not roll over quite disturbing. This is particularly so for the engine of Europe: Germany, Alexis Tsipras the Greek Prime Minister speaking in his Parliament called again on Germany to pay war reparations to his country. Ouch, not the sort of thing Ms. Merkel is likely to want to hear or indeed be reminded of. Her spokesman, Steffen Seibert, is
By Cathal Boland reported as saying, “The question of reparations and compensation is legally and politically closed. Greek Finance Minister Varoufakis speaking in a television interview said that the German Foreign Minister had told him that he (Varoufakis) had lost the trust of the German government to which he responded that he never had it. Also the Greek Foreign Ministry has lodged a complaint over
German comments regarding the naivety of the Greek Government. Greece seems to have won a skirmish in respect of whom they negotiate with; the Troika appears to now operate under the handle of the ‘Brussels Group’. From little acorns great oaks grow. Another seeming to shift position is David Cameron who now says “I think this is the moment Britain stops sleepwalking towards the exit.” He has acknowledged that treaty changes may not be actually required to make the adjustments which he has sought. Commenting on legal advice in regard to treaty changes, he remarked that it was often surprisingly flexible as it seems he is when reality comes close.
Emotional Reilly Speaks Out Continued from page 1 Speaking about the parents of children with disabilities, he said: “I know how frustrating it is and I know how desperate they feel that each passing day that their child hasn’t got a service, is a day lost when maybe they could be progressing.” “I know that all children have a
