Cute knitted animals and their mini-me toys, with keepsake outfits to knit & sew

Description This book taps into the market for cute, easy knits with a vintage feel. Including knitting patterns for seven different cute animal toys – a rabbit, a kitten, a mouse, a puppy, a panda, a teddy and a monkey, each approx. 8 inches (20cm) high, all are easy and quick to knit. Each animal is accompanied by a mini knitted version of itself that is kept in the little shoulder bag or backpack that each toy carries.| There are patterns for the outfits in which to dress the toys—most of them knitted and some sewn garments—all one size, and all designed to fit every animal, plus the bags and other accessories. The chapters are split into themes such as Out to Play, Picnic Time, Time for School, with clothes appropriate for each theme, including pyjamas, outdoor clothes, summer dresses, school uniform and so on, with added accessories.|Readers are encouraged to use up scraps of yarn and fabric they already have for the clothes, re-using materials from a favourite item that’s long since outgrown to make a ‘keepsake’ toy that has special significance.|

Create your own beautiful floral jewellery with small beads, needle and thread. Each major project has fully illustrated step-by-step instructions with lots of diagrams to guide you through the making process, and is followed by further instructions to create even more pieces inspired by, and related to, the major project. There are beautiful projects for beginners like the Eloise necklace and bracelet, and the Carmen necklace and bracelet, through to more advanced projects like the cascading delight of the Sinensis necklace and the structured beauty of the Kyoto necklace and Akiko brooch. To complete the collection there is even a very cute Bee Hive beaded box with a hinged lid.

About The Author Carolyn Pearce has always been fascinated by fabrics, laces, threads and buttons. She learned to embroider 'properly' in the 1980s and was hooked. Describing herself as a ‘frustrated artist’, Carolyn uses her threads as a paint box. Her favourite technique is always the one she is working on now and her ‘other love’ - the garden - provides constant inspiration for her needlework. Carolyn has a BA Dip. Ed. and her teaching and writing skills are put to good use in workshops throughout Australia. She is also the convenor for the course in Silk Ribbon Embroidery at the Embroiderers' Guild of New South Wales.
