GAME PREVIEW Mililani Trojans
T
VS
he Seariders kept up the winning momentum last week, taking home a victory against the Aiea Na Ali’is. Aiea started the game with a bang scoring an early touchdown to take the first quarter lead 7-0. Kekoa Kaluhiokalani sparked the Searider offense in the second half, throwing for three touchdowns leading the team to a 29-13 win. This season is proving to be a great one so far as the Seariders as they seek to maintain their undefeated record.Tonight the Seariders are taking on the 2-1 Mililani Trojans. The Trojans only defeat came at the hands of state powerhouse Punahou. Despite the loss, Mililani is the top ranked high school in the state on scoringlive.com. The Trojan offense is averaging 182 passing yards and 201 rushing yards a game. The Searider defense will need to turn up the intensity if they hope to slow down the Trojans. Having confidence in his team, sophomore offensive lineman
Wai‘anae Seariders
Augustino Samisoni said, “I think that they will be good because they work hard and they always go hard on every single play.” On the opposite side of the ball the Searider offense has proved to be just as effective, averaging 138 passing yards and 189 rushing yards a game. However, the offensive production of tonight’s game may be challenged by injuries to key starters, including running back Jemery Willes. At the end of night though the defense will determine who is victorious on the field. “It doesn’t matter what team we play or how good their offense is. It’s what we bring to the game and how much pressure we put on the quarterback so he doesn’t make any plays,” said senior defensive end Mahvan Tau. With the undefeated record on the line, the 5th ranked Seariders must find a way to come together and bring down the number one Trojans and bring home another win for the Searider Nation.

Q:
Describe what goes through your mind when the ball is coming at you in the air?
A:
In mind, I’ve worked too hard to even think about letting it go.
Q:
How do you prepare mentally and physically before the game starts?
A:
I think about all that I’ve done, and my brothers I play with, they motivate me to do my best.
Q:
Explain how you feel when you catch a pass? Can you describe the best catch you ever made?
A:
The feeling is indescribable, knowing I’ve done my job is awesome. My best catch would be against Leilehua last year for it being my longest.
Q:
Explain the first thing that comes to your mind after making a touchdown?
A:
I thank god for every touchdown I make.
SNAP CHAT What is your mind-set before the snap?
Fresh. Dayten Weber “Before the snap my adrenaline gets high and my mind blocks everything off and just focuses on where the ball is.”
Soph. Marion Manuma “My mindset is to get at least one sack for every series I play because even just one sack is a good thing.”
Soph. Koyo Penitani “My mind is set to put the ball carier on their back and do my job as a middle linebacker and make sure the running back doesn’t gain yards.”
Soph. Garrison Kalama “My mind is set on taking the win home and representing Wai’anae because we practice hard every day to show everyone what we can do.”
Fresh. Ezekiah Moniz “My mind is set on blocking the pass because as a defensive back that is my main priority.”
Senior Tiare Machado “I tell myself to not screw up and no matter what keep smiling because I always seem to make a straight face.”
Junior Jazmine Calixtro “Before I step on the field my mind is set to just stay positive and smile a lot so I look happy.”
Junior Dani Kaohe “My mind is set on my team and our routine. I blur out everyone and just focus on punching out every move.”
Soph. Malu Apirana “Don’t screw up when you cheer because I have a tendency of looking at my friends and forgetting the cheer.”
Senior Tiare Galzote-Gines “To be loud and do my BEST! Always smile, make sure I cheer on football boys.”
Senior Jeremy Bermodez “My mindset before the snap is to do my right assignment and make the receiver look bad. If I can lock down my side it’ll be that much easier for us as a team to win.”
Junior Sione Taukolo “Before the snap I think about how I’m going to execute the play because it is the key of winning or getting a touchdown.”
Junior Nainoa Malaki “I focus on doing the right play because if I do the wrong play then I’ll get yelled at and make myself not focus.”
Junior Joshua Rosa-Sinclair “My mind is set on being the first one to the person with the ball and making the first hit.”
Senior Emil Muraoka III “A lot goes on mind. Most of which would be who I’m blocking, if I’m running, when I motion, especially what the court is for the snap.”
