GAME PREVIEW
T
Kailua Surfriders
VS
he JV Seariders (5-1) have had a successful regular season earning a first round bye in this year’s O.I.A playoffs. The Searider’s know the bye is only a step on their path to try and threepeat as division champions. This week’s opponents are the 4-2 Kailua High School Surfriders who are the third seat in the O.I.A red east division. The Seariders will seek to drown the Surf as the battle of ocean mascots will take place on Raymond Torii Field. Although the Seariders have been in this position before, they know it is best to stay humble and be thankful for every opportunity to play. “I think we’ve had a great season and I’m really excited that we have the chance to still play while other schools don’t,” sophomore OL Levi Jenks said. The pressure to continue the championship legacy
Wai‘anae Seariders
is one the young Seariders are not taking lightly. The players know it will take all they have to stay on top. “It will take hard work, hustling every play and preparation for war and perfection to become successful,” sophomore DL John Kapua IV said. Tonight will determine who will move on and who’s season will come to an end. The Seariders know that for them, it is to be the best or nothing. “The championship belongs to us and we don’t want to let it go,” sophomore DL Joey Nuukanukuhiiki said. Although they are favored, the JV football boys still continue to practice hard to make sure they keep crown on their heads. “It’s fun at practice sometimes, but we always make sure we put in work first so that we’re focused for the game,” said freshman WR Jerusalem To’oto’o.
