OUR MISSION Seattle Academy prepares students for college and life. We are an independent secondary school with a mission to prepare our students to participate effectively in modern society. We, therefore, seek a diversified student body and faculty. We offer a demanding collegepreparatory curriculum integrating the arts and emphasizing a global perspective. We utilize the resources of our urban environment to extend out classrooms, to enhance our programs, and to engage our students in public service. Most of all, we seek to graduate motivated young men and women of talent and integrity who are prepared to contribute productively to a changing world.

DEAR FRIENDS OF SEATTLE ACADEMY, Here we share with you Seattle Academy’s Annual Report for 2017–18. This is a chance to reflect and celebrate the successes of our school community and to say thank you to our remarkable donors and supporters of SAAS. Seattle Academy’s curriculum and programs continue to lean forward and evolve—thanks to the innovative talents of our faculty. Their work is bolstered by gifts received for the Annual Fund. Donors contributed over one million dollars annually to fund programs, resources, and opportunities for SAAS students. Annual Fund gifts of all sizes support our Culture of Performance and Commitment to Excellence that helped to advance our goals for preparing students for college and life. With your support: • Students actively engage in project-based learning that encompasses inquiry, analysis, collaboration, revision, reflection, and presentation thanks to curricular enhancements; • 85% of students participate on athletic teams at all proficiency levels from novice to varsity; • Students vigorously pursue the arts discovering talents and honing skills as visual artists, dancers, actors, vocalists, and musicians;

Outdoor, cultural, and service trips teach students new skills and inspire confidence while cultivating relationships and a deeper understanding of the world; We create access, inclusion and belonging so all students can receive and experience the full benefit of a SAAS education.
Thanks to this extraordinary community of SAAS donors who believe in our mission and vision. As we closed out the 2017–18 school year, we looked ahead with great anticipation for the next chapter at Seattle Academy to include leadership transition, the grand opening of a state of the art Middle School thanks to the generous donations toward our SAAS Rising Campaign and celebrating 35 years of continued transformation.
