JOYCE GEHL VIBRATIONS

JU LY 1 - 29, 20 21

Wherever You Are is Here, Mixed media with resin, 48 x 48 in. “Vibrations” is a collection of new work in photography and resin that conveys Gehl’s appreciation for the natural world. For Gehl, there is a living vibration in all things and the vibrations that are received from nature can be transformational. Her dramatic impressions of what it feels like when you walk through the forest, gaze upon a lily-covered pond, or peer up into a magnolia tree in full bloom are an invitation to pause, reflect, and to journey through her paintings, and to experience the wonder of being a part of this earth. The resin marks a dynamic process shift for Gehl. While the appearance and surface of her paintings has changed, the ongoing exploration of nature has remained consistant throughout her practice.

RICHARD ROYAL DIAMOND CUT SERIES

PRG is honored to present a selection of glass sculptures from Richard Royal. Recognized internationally as one of the most skilled and talented in the studio glass movement, the gallery will feature new pieces from Royal’s ongoing Diamond Cut Series. This series was originally conceived as a metaphor of self-exploration. The simple color applications are an indication of the “inner self” and the “outer self” becoming more integrated and the glass works convey a willingness to be seen.

Diamond Cut Series 5, blown glass, 21 x 16 x 16 in.

FOSTER/WHITE GALLERY

ALDEN MASON: A TEACHER’S LEGACY In conjunction with Alden Mason’s retrospective at the Bellevue Arts Museum, Fly Your Own Thing, running May 14 - October 10, 2021, the Alden Mason Foundation and Foster/White Gallery are pleased to present an exhibition of selected work created by Mason’s students. Comprised of artwork made in his classes at the University of Washington where he taught for 32 years, the student selection includes work in a variety of media that were kept as examples for future classes. Proceeds from the sales of the student artworks will benefit the Alden Mason Foundation to help establish a scholarship through the School of Art at the University of Washington in Mason’s name, including a piece by his former student Chuck Close which is up for auction on our website. Also, visit the gallery and pick up your copy of “Alden Mason:Paintings”, a beautiful new book celebrating the life and career of one of the Pacific Northwest’s most important artists.
