WILL ROBINSON
FLIGHTS OF FANCY
JULY 2 - 25, 2015
JULY 2 - AUGUST 22, 2015
Benefiting the Seattle Symphony Orchestra
To commemorate Donald Foster’s extraordinary contribution to the Seattle Arts Community on what would be his 90th birthday, this exhibition brings together new works by current and past Foster/ White artists. In addition to 30 years as the owner of Foster/White Gallery, Donald Foster was the director of exhibits at the Seattle World’s Fair and held high-profile positions for many years on the Seattle Symphony Board, the Seattle Repertory Theater board, and the guiding committee of the Seattle Art Museum. This exhibition is guest curated by long-time partner Terry Arnett.

Right: THE HISTORIC WORLD STRONGHOLDS, 2013 Graphite, colored pencil and permanent marker on paper 31.5 x 27 inches
“What I’m interested in doing is elevating an intriguing group of artists who learned how to express themselves on their own and not by using the prevailing academic model of learning so sought after in our culture. I’m not going to further the messy nomenclature of folk artists, naïve artists, outsider artists, or visionaries. It just doesn’t interest me to go down those paths. What appeals to me here is the great individuality of these artists and not whether they hew to previously established criteria and hyperbolic canons.” –Greg Kucera, Director
