ALICIA TORMEY NEW TERRITORY
AUG U S T 3 - 26 , 20 21 ARTIST MEET & GREET: SATURDAY, AUGUST 7, 12 - 2 PM
Below the Surface, Encaustic, ink and shellac on wood, 10 x 20 in.
PRG is honored to present Alicia Tormey’s “New Territory”. Known for her encaustic paintings, Tormey’s recent body of work is a highly personal collection that represents her journey over the past year as she made significant life changes amidst a pandemic. Working with inventive techniques that blend beeswax, resin, shellac and raw pigments, these works are charged with vibrant color and Tormey’s compositions easily segue from dreamlike landscapes to unrestrained botanicals. The landscapes drift into abstraction and take the viewer on a meandering journey pulling the eye to a distant horizon. In contrast, the botanicals burst forth with energy and seem defiant with their powerful presence.
