Jody Isaacson Absence of Presence
David Byrd Montrose VA 1958-1988 After our premier exhibition of David Byrd’s work in 2013, much has progressed for his enduring legacy. Though he died a month after our show closed, we partnered with his estate to introduce his work in New York City at the 2014 ADAA art fair. His agent, Jody Isaacson, has expanded his career from there. Byrd created his magnum opus, Montrose VA 1958-1988, to record the 30 years he spent working as an orderly at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Montrose, NY. We selected many unbound pages from Byrd’s original largescale manuscript to be displayed in vitrines. We also borrowed back some of the paintings from our original show which are referenced by studies in the book. Byrd’s estate is now ably represented by Anton Kern Gallery in New York, to which we are grateful for the loan of the Montrose album. We will also offer a full scale reproduction of the book for sale, produced by his estate and Anton Kern.

TERRY TURRELL JAGGED EDGE
OC TO B ER 5 - 2 8 , 2 0 2 1 ARTIST MEET & GREET: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9, 12 - 2 PM
All the King’s Men/The Singer, Oil & enamel on wood panel, 40 x 60 in.
Moved by ancient cross-cultural art and mythology, Terry Turrell is drawn to the ways that visual art can be used to tell stories, express music, investigate world views, and delve into memory. “Jagged Edge” brings together a collection of paintings and sculpture that are infused with uplifting color, unusual materials and spontaneous marks. As with much of Turrell’s art, the works in this exhibition walk the edge between our collective being and existence alongside the things that connect us to the sacred and mystic.
