Bringing People & Pets Together SEATTLE HUMANE SOCIETY’S mission is bringing people and pets together and keeping them together, and we’ve been doing just that since 1897. We are an independent, donor-funded nonprofit animal welfare organization and we save nearly 6,000 abandoned, stray and surrendered pets in our community every year. We find loving homes for every healthy and adoptable animal who enters our doors, and we have no time limits on their stay. We are proud to serve the people and pets of King County with a variety of programs including adoptions, veterinary services, dog training classes, a pet food bank, and humane education for children of all ages. All healthy and adoptable companion animals who come through Seattle Humane Society’s doors are given as long as it takes for us to find them a home of their own, regardless of age, beauty or infirmity. In addition, we provide medical care and treatment for our shelter guests who need a little something extra to make them adoptable. Shelter guests are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, examined by one of our staff veterinarians, and temperament tested prior to being made available for adoption. The simple truth is that animals benefit greatly from what we do. But people benefit greatly as well. We support and encourage the human/animal bond with programs that bring people and pets together — and keep them together. This has been our mission for more than 110 years, and we couldn’t do it without the generous support of sponsors like you.

About Seattle Humane’s Tuxes & Tails Gala WHERE and WHEN? The Seattle Humane Society’s 24th annual Tuxes & Tails gala will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue beginning at 5:00 p.m.
WHAT IS TUXES & TAILS? Tuxes & Tails is our biggest and most important fundraiser of the year. It is a special evening in which more than 900 animal lovers and supporters come together to celebrate, find wonderful auction items, and support the life-saving work of the Seattle Humane Society. Thanks to generous donors and guests, in 2012 we raised $1.23 million to support the many community-wide services of the Seattle Humane Society.
FABULOUS AUCTION ITEMS Hundreds of silent auction items and dozens of fabulous live items will be featured at Tuxes & Tails 2013. Some of these great items include African photo safaris, VIP seats to the Mariners or Sounders FC, and unique dining experiences at some of Seattle’s finest restaurants.

ALL THE MONEY RAISED STAYS IN OUR COMMUNITY Each year, thousands of puppies, kittens, dogs, cats, rabbits, and other companion animals are welcomed at the Seattle Humane Society shelter. Our goal is to find a loving home for every one. Your contribution goes directly to provide food, shelter and veterinary care for the animals in our care. Donations also support humane education programs for children, spay/neuter services for pets in low-income families, and the Pet Food Bank. Additionally, your gifts support our Pet Project program which helps people disabled by AIDS by providing veterinary services and food for their furry companions.
YOUR HELP IS VITAL Your generosity and support will ensure that we can fulfill the mission and continue to nurture the power of companionship between people and pets.
