ROUTES TO FAIR

FROM SOUTH Via Alask~n Way Viaduct to Western Av. off Ramp and Broad St.

SOUTH VIA U. S. 99 I TO SEATILE-TACOMA AIRPORT AND TACOMA ~

Seattle will become a global crossroads April 21 when the World's Fair opens. And these maps by Alan Pratt, Times staff artist, showing the main routes in and out of the city and to the fair grounds, will be a welcome aid to the visitors.

.

.

.

The inset map, upper right, shows the fair site and its immediate environs, with the main arteries leading to the fair graphically set forth. Some-although by no means all- · of Seattle's many charms, attractions and points of interest also are indicated.

The network of highways and byways from all compass points is drawn tightly together by the mighty magnetism of the World's Fair. The fair will be as modern as Century 21, its theme. But each highway and byway will bear a legend, old-fashioned but ever fresh: WELCOME!

For the past few years Bl'itish Columbia has been engaged in the largest highway building program in i ts history. Now within reach of everyone are what we believe to be some of the world's finest scenery and best recreation lands. British Columbia has variety in climate, landscape, and topography. For the visitor who likes coastal scenery, many seaside havens in the Vancouver area and on Vancouver Island are only a short drive away. For t hose who like their scenery vertical there is no more spectacular drive than the rugged Fraser Canyon and none grander than the new

Rogers Pass route tht·ough the Selkirk mountains to be opened about July 30 this year. For the western atmosphere, B.C.'s warm, dry interior region is the place to visit where good highways lead to numerous ranching, fishing, hunting, and swimming areas. This fine new highway system is being built by and for the people of British Columbia but it is also for our visitors and we hope to see many more of them from the United States this year. We think they will be glad they came.
