LI CHUNG CHENG W AT E R D E S I G N S T U D I O TA I P E I TA I W A N
About Me My name is Li-Chung Cheng, I live in Taipei, Taiwan. My friend call me Sebastian. I started my own business, Water Design Studio, in October 01 2013 and for over four years I have successfully completed projects for my customers. I love to travel and during my travels I can exposed to new experiences, which help me create different perspectives of design. When I discuss with my clients, I am able to bring new perspective that can combine with client’s personality. All my projects are a journey and each has their own story. When I design, it comes straight from my heart so it goes against the grain to sit down and analyze what I have done and why. The experience of running my own studio has helped me find ways of communicating my ideas and made me far more aware of why one idea works brilliantly and another doesn’t, why some clients insist on their ideas and how to mix ideals and turning their dream home into reality. Those clients are those who love their homes and pour their hearts into them.
These two side by side apartment projects had special needs. The clients wanted to use same layout but two different tones and textures for living. One was for their son and the other was for their daughter.

He often had foreigner guests, so the layout needed to have extra space while still being flexible enough to facilitate daily use. Living room

B E F OR E AN D AF T E R NA N G A N G D I S T. RO O F - TO P APARTMENT TAIPEI
The original apartment was extremely old and small due to the ceiling being low and the colors of the room were dark. I took the original ceiling off and raised it. I emphasized the windows size to allow for natural lights. I used off-white to make space appear bigger and added artificial antique wood on the ceiling to create a focal point. The goal was to create a simple seaside cabin space for renting. Artificial antique wood ceiling.

This project was influenced by the air conditioner drainage system which had been constructed by the building. The idea was to use a symmetrical bedside panel up to the classic ceiling.

Roof-top apartments are commonplace in Taipei City. They are often created with the wrong layout and low ceilings. This project was as such. The design was to reconstruct the layout and raise the ceiling. The goal was to design a loft that was sophisticated and contemporary. Using the penal design to hided bathroom(door A) door and bedroom(door B) door.

XINGMENDING DIST. APARTMENT TAIPEI As you can see from the picture below, we had two challenges. One was that the apartment had too many tubes that came from the building drainage system that couldn’t be removed. The second was that it only had natural light on one side. The apartment was designed such that a higher ceiling would cover all the tubes and give fun and content multi-lighting plan. 01 Creamy-white paint 02 Gray mirror 01 The celling and lighting plan Before the construction
