I am in my second year of study and expect to graduate at the end of 2014. I am also a Designer/ Part Owner for Abrogate. The Logo

The logo is such a recognisable and highly visible brand asset. It is vital that it is always applied consistently wherever it appears. Standard Logo (including ribbon logo) This is the default configuration of the logo that must be used wherever possible.

The ribbon logo below is a representation of the standard logo. The ribbon logo is a substitute that allows logo application to backgrounds that have low contrast. It is highly recommended that this logo is positioned to the top edge of the layout. If this is unachievable position the logo in appropriate space. See logo to the right.

Minimum tonal difference of 40% is satisfactory. 1. Always leave the logo some area to breathe. 2. If the unavoidable happens and you have the sit the logo on a low contrasting background. Apply the ribbon logo. 3. Do not rotate the logo. 4. Do not apply effects to the logo without seeking professional approval. 5. Do not apply embellishments. For instance drop shadows, embossing etc.

6. Do not change any of the colours on the logo.

Brief 2 Packaging

Shutlery

A Quick Slice

The following work is a packaging redesign that I entered into the Southern Cross Packaging Design Awards. The addressed issue is that sushi takeaway containers don’t supply a fully resolved container that enables the best user experience for the consumers. During development of the packaging a realisation was made. The takeaway container could expand its use and market rather than just specifically catering for sushi. This was made possible because of the containers universal design. My packaging solution consisted of inner compartments that were designed to hold sushi extras such as soy sauce, mayonnaise, ginger and wasabi. This correspondingly works for foods like salads, burgers/ fish and chips as the compartments

are perfect for storage space for common extras (dressings/ sauces). The takeaway container also has a cutlery hold and close system. This system uses the consumer’s cutlery as a closing mechanism for the container. It also keeps them nice and snug in the side holster so you never have to worry about dropping them on the way to your table. The system also allows the consumer to receive their product in an easy one-hand takeaway

container (keeping their other hand free for other functions).

What is Shutlery?

Shutlery is a manufacturing company that creates and supplies unique environmentally friendly packaging for a vast range of companies. Shutlery packaging was developed to provide a better user experience for takeaway sushi with a universal design. The design allows the packaging of practically any takeaway food entirely due to the materials, mechanics and design.

Materials

Materials 100% eco-friendly: Packaging Sugarcane Clamshell packaging lined with PLA (polylactic acid). Cutlery and Chopsticks: Birch wood.

Sizing Considerations

Took into account the correct packaging/ food sizes to further develop a compatible takeaway container.

Net used to construct the final packaging container. With the correct material and manufacturer this container would be normally be produced in a mould.
