Past Events: Pi Day ~March 14th, 2014 In Loving Memory of Mrs. Bzinak
To one of our most favorite math teachers ever, we have dedicated Pi Day just for you~ We love you and we miss you, Mrs. Bzinak!
Past Events: Pi Day On March 14th, Key Club strove to make a difference in the community as well as honor a beloved teacher who had left us far too soon. In honor of her favorite day, Key Club sold slices of pie for $2 or two slices of pie for $3. All proceeds were donated to the Stroke Awareness Foundation in honor of Mrs. Bzinak. Overall, Key Club fundraised $325 from a single day of fundraising! It was proof of how much one person could make a difference in so many lives.
Past Events: Pi Day Article By: Terrie Truong On Friday, March 14th, our club held a pie sale for Pi Day! Right when the bell rang for lunch we had to hurry to prep ourselves for the pile of hungry teenagers pouring in! We organized the group of kids into two lines as they patiently waited for us to slice their piece. There were a lot more students wanting pie than we expected. It was really fun working with our members, slicing pies, handing them out, and collecting the money. We sold one piece of pie for $2 and 2 pieces of pie for $3. All proceeds went to the Stroke Awareness Foundation in honor of Mrs. Bzinak, our late SECTA math teacher. She always loved Pi day! She had touched a lot of students' lives in a positive way so a lot of students came to buy some pie while thinking of her. When I went to go count the money with our advisor, Ms. Forrester, I almost felt like tearing up when the banker told us that we raised $325 because it really felt like we were making a difference. I'd like to say thank you to everyone that participated in bringing pies and working during lunch to make this so successful. I'm so proud of you guys!
Past Events: Pi Day Letter from the Stroke Awareness Foundation “Dear SECTA Key Club, Faculty, Staff and Students, On behalf of the Stroke Awareness Foundation (SAF), please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of Lissa Bzinak. She sounded like an amazing woman and her efforts her friends made honoring her. Your generous $330.00 donation gift will be used to continue to educate people to recognize stroke symptoms and bring people into the right emergency rooms sooner. Your investment has improved the likelihood that your family, friends, and neighbors will receive good outcomes should they experience as a stroke. The Foundation would like to send an acknowledgement to Lissa’s family communicating your thoughtfulness in supporting her family and this Foundation if you provide us with the appropriate address.
