Past Events:
Open House
On December 4th, Key Club participated in our schools open house. Although the event didn’t start until later, members stayed after school to help set up our table and make it look nice for all the 8th graders who are considering our school. All our hard work paid off in the end too; our table ended up being the most decorative. Our location proved to our advantage as well, because we were the first table people saw when they walked in, so all our decorations caught their attention. It was a really interesting experience and it reminded me of Freshmen Orientation we did in the beginning of the year. Although we did not get hours for this event, it was really fun to talk to parents and their children and recap on all the events we did this year. Some kids would get interested when they heard all the runs we participated in, while others perked up when they hear what we did with children. Overall, I would say that this event was a success, and I hope many of the students who recorded our contact information will be their in our first meeting of next school year. -Danika Manguiat, Key Club Bulletin Editor
I love the first Tuesday of every month because I get to look forward  K-Kids. The K-Kids  to going to meeting is so rewarding because we get to work with our elementary school counterparts on different things. This time the kids were working on combining blankets for child patients at Sunrise Hospital to make their stay over Christmas slightly more home-like. It was nice to walk in and be remembered by the elementary students and be invited to their tables. When I attend K-Kids, I feel like a mentor when I go. They're always happy to see us and they ask us for help doing things. It's a very gratifying experience. We helped with homework after we finished weaving blankets together. Some girls even went out to recycle while others tended to the garden. The garden is in the middle of their school and K-Kids help maintain the garden and keep it looking nice for school morale. It's a very inspirational event to attend and I invite all the Key Club members to attend this event as it could very easily be one of your favorite events

Holiday Party On Thursday, December 11th, Key Clubbers attended our annual Winter Social at the Commons in our school. Our members celebrated the holidays with one another by bringing food, receiving their membership certificates and participating in our annual White Elephant. Everyone had a blast talking and having fun! Board Members also announced this month’s members of the month.
“___” of the Month
Lizzy Lugo: Member of the Month There is never a time that the club cannot count on her to show up and participate. If the club ever needs anything, Lizzy is always the first to raise her hand and offer. She has gone through some difficult times recently; however, her love of service has not wavered. She provides materials when they are needed. Lizzy never cares about how many hours she is getting, but she cares about who she is helping. Thank you for everything that you do.
Jasmin Ramirez: Member of the Month
Jasmin was a member of a different Key Club before she attended ours. Jasmin is an extremely active member who never fails to lend a helping hand whenever it is needed. She has earned her name as Princess Jasmin in our club, and she is royal. Jasmin attends every meeting, attends as many events as she can, and gives advice to the board. Thank you for everything that you do and do not ever forget how much you mean to our club.
Austin Chavez: Monthly Brain Austin has just very recently become our Treasurer but already he has proven to be an extraordinary member and board member. He has earned the brain this month for all of his wonderful ideas that he brings up during each board meeting. As an active member, he brings these ideas to the table and helps to improve the club so we can reach our fullest potential. Thank you for all these ideas and keep up the great work!

Week of
Positivity
WHAT IS THE WEEK OF POSITIVITY?
From December 15th – December 19th, our Key Club hosted a type of spirit week, which we called the Week of Positivity. The idea of the Week of Positivity was to send out a very important message to all the students of SECTA: That no matter their hardships, there are people that care. That SECTA’s Key Club cares.
HOW WAS IT PLANNED?
It started simple, the club and the board all agreed on what each day would be. From there, members all helped out making post its, posters, and clothes pins. Some members even came in during their lunchtime to make sure they’re posters would be ready by the week of the 15th.
WHO WAS THIS WEEK FOR?
Anyone who was willing to listen, and everyone who needed it. We just wanted to let students know that everyone goes through hardships and that everyone is also able to overcome them.
BONUS!! Ms. Ang showed her love for the club with a special gift.
WHAT WERE THE ARRANGED DAYS? MONDAY: POSTER DAY
Key Club began the week by hanging up our handmade posters all around the school! All of our posters were made with encouraging tidbits so that students can see them throughout the week.
TUESDAY: POSITIVE NOTES Our Key Clubbers got together, and wrote encouraging words on a large amount of post-its. We stuck them all around school (on lockers and such) to leave an anonymous note to let students know that they’re amazing.
WEDNESDAY: VERBAL COMPLIMENTS What better way to boost some confidence but by giving them out ourselves? Not only did our Key Club encourage students to compliment one another, but we also went around complimenting others ourselves.
THURSDAY: RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
Actions speak louder than words, and what speaks louder than caring for others? Members went out and did various acts of kindness like holding doors open, or helping our teachers out; something we always try to do everyday. FRIDAY: CLOTHESPINS OF POSITIVITY We chose to end the week by anonymously pinning clothespins on unsuspecting students to give them a small surprise of encouragement.
DOUBLE BONUS!! Members showed their love for our advisor with lots of Minions!
TRI PLE BONUS!! To show how much she’s worth, Key Club gave Ms. Money a “cake” to show her she’s worth a million grand!

L etter from the Vice President Hello! My name is Terrie Truong and I am currently a Junior. I am SECTA Key Club’s new vice president! I haven’t been in Key Club for as long as other members but I plan to bring all of my leadership experience and ideas to the table! As a freshman, I wasn’t in any clubs and felt shy and awkward but when I joined Key Club I felt like I can be myself and actually help the community out! I hope to help everyone experience the same kind of feelings that I have about the club and community! Also, don’t forget that the board members are your friends! Don’t be afraid to talk to any of us because we’re here to serve you! We all join together so we can serve our community. We want to help you guys become leaders and be outgoing members of society! If you have an idea, don’t hesitate to tell us! No idea is a bad idea! Not only do you help those around you, but you are helping yourself as well. You grow through experience, everything that you do inside and outside the club.
"Leaders must be close enough to relate to others, but far enough ahead to motivate them." —John C. Maxwell
