K-Kids
A special event I was able to go to recently was the K-‐Kids Meeting at Jack Dailey Elementary School which is something we regularly do every month. As I, and a few other members, arrived we were greeted with warm smiles and familiar faces. As soon as we entered, their officers started the meeting by delegating tasks and reciting upcoming events and stating their duty for the meeting. For this meeting, we collaborated to make gift bags for boys and girls at a children’s hospital. It was really fun and refreshing because the students knew what to do without being told or guided. I can see a bright future for every single K-‐Kids member. After the project, the students were free to do homework, read, or speak with us. At every meeting, the students always have questions about High School or Key Club and they’re always satisfied with the answers we give them. Visiting the K-‐ Kids makes the philosophy of making friends not exclusive to age true. The connection between our Key Club and Jack Dailey’s K-‐Kids helps create a better community and implements a stronger want to be in Builder’s Club or Key Club when they leave elementary school.

Love Potions ON SAL E
Danika Manguiat Key Club Bulletin Editor Throughout the first few weeks of February, SECTA Key Club decided to hold a fundraiser by selling Love Potions during lunch. What exactly are Love Potions? They weren’t anything over the top, but they were decorated water bottles with a juice packet and a handwritten letter from the sender. Although, admittedly, the sales began slowly, the amount we were able to sell was right about the amount we wanted to. It was great to see members dedicated their lunchtime to stay on the stage and help sell this special treat. What was really interesting was seeing the customers who came back to buy another one or decided to send it to themselves! By the end of the sales, we had a lot of Love Potions to deliver! The day before our four-day weekend, members who had the permission were excused from their classes in order to deliver these potions to the recipients of this special treat. The potions were separated beforehand and made after school prior to this in order to make it easier and quicker to deliver them. Although I was unable to help with the distribution of the potions, from what I saw, the delivering went by smoothly. Those who did receive one looked very content with what they received, and I’m glad with how successful the sales went.
Kiwanis Breakfast Danika Manguiat Key Club Bulletin Editor
On Saturday, February 13th, members of our Key Club attended the meeting of our local Kiwanis club at the Omelet House. Members woke up at the early hours of the morning and made their way down in order to sit in and get to know our Kiwanis group. Although it wasn’t my first time attending a Kiwanis meeting, it was my first time attending one at that location. I was really surprised the Kiwanis meeting had it’s own separate room for their meeting just a little bit behind the kitchen. The process of ordering was much easier than how it usually was, and members who attended happily got their food. When the meeting started, we listened to the Kiwanis members talk about their projects and they even let us know about future projects they will need assistance with. Afterwards, we went around the room and had each Key Club introduce themselves and list a few of their past and upcoming events. When the meeting was adjourned, there just so happened to be cake in order to celebrate the birthday of a member. Alongside two other members from other Key Clubs, I helped distribute the cake to those that wanted it. However, since it was early in the morning and everyone had just eaten cake, it was really difficult to find someone who accepted a slice in all honesty. When I returned to my table, it was nice to see our members chatting with members from other Key Clubs. Before we left, we agreed to do more service projects alongside those Key Clubs. I’m really looking forward to seeing these promises come into fruition.

Danika Manguiat Key Club Bulletin Editor On Thursday, February 12th, SECTA Key Club held our elections for the 2015-1016 school year. In order to conduct these elections, we had all people running prepare a speech prior to that meeting and look over a study guide that had the answers to questions they might be asked. Our club president notified all candidates to dress formal for the elections, in order to give off a better first impression to the members. Unfortunately, candidates were told to stand outside and wait to be called in so we were unable to hear the speeches of other candidates. Although I was one of the people who was told to stand outside, I was told that the speeches all went well and everyone did a good job and tried their best. Outside, other candidates got to know one another if they didn’t already, and this was a good way to ensure that the new board would already start off on good terms since we were able to talk to one another. The only bad things was that it was pretty hot and, in the end, we had to stay outside for the whole hour since it took that long. When we got inside, members were already in the process of voting and we candidates were allowed to vote as well. When the members were dismissed, candidates waited to be told who got each position. Overall, I believe everyone is content with who won each position and I’m so glad to see how hard everyone tried!

C hinese New Year Festival Â
Deborah Diaz, Key Club SAA On the 21st of February, Centennial's Key Club, Valley Key Club, and my Key Club all went to volunteer at the Spring Parade in honor of celebrating Chinese New Year. It was a great experience to hand out candies during the parade. Not only did we give candy to the kids that were at the parade, but also gave it to the workers that were helping out clean the parade. It featured tons of amazing Kung Fu dancers and outstanding costumes. There were also Star Wars in the parade and it was fun to see Darth Vader waving to everyone. In addition, prior to the parade all the Key Clubs were honored to meet Mark Hutcherson, the Lieutenant Governor of Las Vegas. We were able to help him carry his banner throughout the whole parade and wave to all the audience. Overall, the parade was a success and it was a big enjoyment to do it with my Key Club and with Centennial and Valley.
