RTC Preparation

Throughout the entire month of September, SECTA Key Club members helped to get ready for RTC by making props, practicing cheers, and hyping up other members who were going to attend RTC. The week before RTC was especially hectic, and members found themselves staying after school constantly in order to make sure everything was prepared. Board members, especially, worked hard and we had many socials to make sure members memorized the cheers. The SAAs, Daniel, and other members helped edit and give ideas to the cheers as well as the props. Over the course of those weeks leading up to RTC, members bonded with one another and we created new experiences and got closer as a family. Although it was very tiring, the results were very rewarding and I was so happy to see how many individuals enjoyed their first (or maybe last) RTC experience. It was a huge success, and while it is my last RTC, I hope newer members create fun and memorable experiences in years to come. Â

Tomiyasu Carnival On Friday, October 23rd, members of Key Club attended Tomiyasu Elementary school to help out with their Halloween Carnival. This event is something that SECTA does every year, and it was a really great experience to see how many members attended as opposed to last year. When we arrived, we chose the stations that we would be helping out at. However, before the event actually started, members helped out in various aspects of the carnival. We moved pumpkins, helped set up the haunted house (a very fun experience since there was so many of us), and helped prepare food that would later be served to the kids. Additionally, it was very exciting to see all the young elementary kids and how they were dressed up. I was in charge of the cake walk, and though I was not able to stay the entirety of the event, Emi and I helped gather tickets and control the line so that it wouldn’t get so convoluted. Seeing the kids get really happy when they saw that they won really made my day. Â

ANNA ACOSTA

THE M O N T H

Over the past few months, Anna has consistently been participating at various events. Not only does she give her all in everything she does, but she also works diligently and quietly supports the other members. The amount of time and effort she puts into Key Club has really shone. Thank you for BEE-ing you!

TATAYANA CONDON Ever since she joined, Tatayana has consistently been an active member of Key Club. Each week she asks questions and shows an interest in upcoming events. Additionally, she has shown up to a majority of the events and has worked her hardest at each event she has participated in. Thank you so much for being such a PAW-some member!

RTC

Written by: Danika Manguiat On Saturday, October 3rd, about 40 members attended this year’s annual RTC, Regional Training Conference. Members arrived at RTC early in the morning in order to receive all their spirit attire and to paint their faces. At 8, members went into RTC. A few of our board members, including myself, were put in charge of workshops. Needless to say, it was very tiring. I had a service event so I had many people coming in to my workshop at every session. There was also the problem that some members did not want to work. However, it was very rewarding when SECTA came in because everyone was so well behaved and worked diligently. Afterwards, we went out to do cheers. Although our school didn’t pass the first round, everyone did so well and I’m really proud of how RTC turned out. It felt really rewarding to see our hard work paying off and I have high hopes for SECTA Key Club’s future after I graduate.
