article written by: Jessica Le The black light run was an amazing experience. It was my first run that I actually ran, instead of volunteering. I had a blast at the pre-party. The preparty had this really amazing DJ named DJ Diego. He is only 14 years old and is really talented. The preparty drained my energy, so when it was the actual time for the race, all I wanted to do was walk. But with the amazing president, Noemi Hernandez, and our awesome member, Vanessa, they encouraged me to run more and walk less. By the end, we were covered in colorful powder.

article written by: Terrie Truong March 29th On Saturday, March 29th, I went to go volunteer at the Bubble Run with a few other key clubbers! When we first got there we were the only SECTA key clubbers there but we were not intimidated by the large size of the other clubs. Then some familiar faces started to appear! At 8AM, we all piled into the back of a huge truck and it was packed with so many people. Even the organizer said that was the most people they fit into one truck! When we got to our bubble location, we waited for runners and as they started coming through we cheered them on. It was so fun to see such colorful and bubbly people! We saw our president pass and got her to do the How Do You Feel? cheer! After the race, we quickly tried to wrap up the equipment and it was kind of tough because we almost a team of small girls with the exception of one guy but we got the job done! When we got back to the main location, our club helped the Merchandise tent pack up their stuff and put away their tent. We also collected bottle caps and picked up trash off the ground as the runners and volunteers started leaving. It was a lot of fun singing our SECTA cheers and volunteering. I’d like to run it next year!

THE NIGHT

article written by: Bridget Manguiat
SECTA held it’s first Illuminate the night on Friday April 04, 2014. I was quite nervous on how well it would go as SECTA had never done such a big event. At the same time, I was really excited to be helping raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma research. I actually wanted to run it myself but couldn’t as I was helping direct and keep the cheerful atmosphere. I was at the start line, sent people off in waves, and even cheered on the runners. It was pretty hyped actually. The competing runners and runners in training were especially hyped up which got me pretty hyped too. I was so full of energy and so were the rest of the key clubbers. After or before the run, they were selling hot dogs and hamburgers to prep and for energy after. That went well. I think I got over excited and ended up being obnoxious but it was a ton of fun either way! In addition, we raised a decent amount of money as well. I’m graduating this year, so I won’t be able to help out next year when they do it again. BUT! I plan on running it;)
