Last Minute Checklist for Grooms Brides spend a lot of time planning their weddings down to every last detail. We at noticed, however, that grooms are not always quite as on top of the small stuff. Since brides are already so busy, we wanted to help grooms get better organized {so brides don’t have to nag them!}.

A Fresh Haircut: The groom doesn’t need to spend all morning in the salon like the bride likely will, but he does need a fresh haircut before the big day. Given how busy the last few days before a wedding typically are, the groom should go for a haircut the weekend before the wedding. That way he will look neat for the rehearsal dinner and any other pre-wedding festivities. And guys, even if you normally get your haircuts on your lunch hour at the local walk-in place, consider spending a little more to get a top quality haircut at a salon that caters to men.

Dress Socks:

This might sound silly, but if your fiance rents his tuxedo, it will come with the suit, the shirt, and maybe even the shoes – so he thinks he is all set, right? Wrong – There is one thing that doesn’t necessarily come with a tux rental: the black dress socks. Think no man could overlook socks for his wedding day? Well my husband did! The morning of our wedding, he was scrambling around looking for a store in our small town with dress socks in stock. Or if your groom is wearing a suit and wants socks with a bit more personality, such as argyle, make sure he remembers to pick up a new pair for the wedding day.

A Gift for the Bride:

In case you didn’t know, many grooms give their brides a little gift on the morning of the wedding. You can be sure that your bride knows about it, so it is a good idea to pick up a little something special. If you do not plan to do a first look, it is customary to have the gift delivered to the bride where she will be getting ready. Jewelry is the most traditional wedding day gift, whether it is something for the bride to wear with her gown, or a classic piece (perhaps monogrammed with her new initials?)

The Wedding Rings:

Where are they? Did you hide them in a “safe place”

That will be impossible to remember on the morning of the wedding? First of all, make sure you locate the wedding bands. Second of all, remember to bring them to the ceremony! If you are not having a ring bearer, put both wedding bands together in one box and give them to your best man to hold. He can keep them in the inside pocket of his jacket until it is time for the ring exchange.

Pack a Bag for the Honeymoon:

Last but not least, be sure to pack for your honeymoon trip! Remember to bring your passport if traveling internationally. Not headed out of town right after the wedding? Then pack an overnight bag for your honeymoon, along with clothes to wear to brunch the next morning.

The Oakley Partnership After many years combining his time at Medizen with a position as Senior Partner in a large NHS GP practice, Dr Eccleston has now opened a private GP practice in Sutton Coldfield called The Oakley Partnership, www.topmedicalpractice.co.uk, email info@topmedicalpractice.co.uk The Practice provides general family medicine and also information about, and administration of, childhood and adult vaccines, particularly those not generally available on the NHS, together with a wide range of other medical services. We offer consultations for advice, treatment, specialist referral, or second opinions. We are a totally independent Private Medical Practice, and pride ourselves on ensuring continuity of care and complete confidentiality for all patients. We aim to make patient care our first concern and to provide sufficient consultation time for each patient’s needs to be fully addressed.

Health Screening

Whereas the NHS will provide screening for those considered most at risk of developing disease or illness, many patients do not want to wait until they are old enough or fulfil the criteria to fit into one of these ‘target groups’. We offer a wide range of blood tests, including thyroid, male and female hormone and cholesterol testing, ‘well man’ and ‘well woman’ screening, blood pressure checks and onwards referral where necessary for further, more detailed assessment and treatment.

Most people are satisfied or very happy with their family GP, but the demands on the NHS mean that many patients feel that their GP does not have the time to deal with their problems thoroughly enough.

All consultations are confidential. We encourage you to inform your GP of any consultation or treatment you have at the Practice, but will respect your wishes if you prefer not to do this.

In addition to this, the difficulty in seeing the GP of their choice at a time convenient to them is a constant bugbear to many.

Our Private GP Service provides you with the opportunity to obtain a second opinion, facilitate specialist referral, or access ethical, professional medical care that is not readily available, or is subject to lengthy delays via the NHS. Accordingly, there is no need to pay for formal registration or make a financial commitment to a long term contract for retention with the practice.

We do not aim to replace the care of your GP, but to offer an alternative service for those who want to spend more time with a doctor of their choice, or perhaps obtain a second opinion.
