Being a More Effective Manager Overall Being a manager is at once a tough and rewarding job. Directing the work efforts of others to get a successful end to a work assignment is a skill that grows over time and becomes more effective. The longer that you are a manager, the more effective you will become at being a director and getting results from others. It can be a strange position at times, due to the way that managers need to be able to balance out doing work on their own and having others help out.

Delegation Delegation is an important part of the job, as is communication and motivation. All of these factors play a real role in getting results for your organization. It is always going to be interesting when you are working with people and are directing their efforts. People are simply not quantifiable the way other organizational assets are. As such, it is always going to require effort and coordination in order to be able to manage people. They are at once the greatest possible assets an organization can have, as well as being wild cards which might not be consistent over time. It is the job of the manger to get results on work done when being in charge of people, while also taking into account their very human needs and limitations. Put simply, everyone is different and requite different moths of motivation and attention in order to be as effective as possible. Manager need to be able to blend being in charge with being accessible- while also being able to utilize reward and punishment in order to get people to do their best. It is a constantly ongoing effort which is going to require a lot of work and dedication to succeed.

Getting Results Done right, being an effective manager can produce very good results indeed. Getting everyone to work together as cogs in a machine is one of the most effective ways to find success. No matter what your field is, there are benefits to be found from looking at directions styles and making changes when it is necessary. This is applicable for all careers, from construction to finance to federal acquisition management.


It all comes down to being able to work effectively with others and find the best solutions for problems which might arise. When you look at how to improve on a paradigm and alter it for the better, you can readily expect good results to come from the effort. When it all comes down to it, being a more effective manager is looking at that paradigm and evolving it based on need. Those who remain rigid with a certain way of doing things are likely going to be doomed to fail at some point in time. We live in an ever changing world. Just as the seasons change, so too to the demands of the market, government policies, and the training and effectiveness of people. It is through the evolution of technique and application that people are going to be able to be more effective managers overall.
