典礼。在这个骊歌高唱的时刻，我要向毕业 生献上祝福，恭喜你们成功修完大学课程。
大学教育是一个人装备自己的阶段，接下来
同时我也不忘向辛勤付出的讲师教授们，致

以最崇高的敬意与谢意！

欣逢南方大学学院2019年毕业典礼，我谨代
本校在7年升格发展到如今，建设了更雄厚
表董事会，向本校各院系全体毕业生表达恭
的实力和坚实的基础，本校目前已经扩展至
贺之意，祝大家前程似锦，鹏程万里！
7大学院，3个学部，4大中心和研究院。校 方于去年获得教育部批准开办了工商管理博
南方大学学院创校至今已走过44年的发展历
士学位课程，也在今年4月份开办了中文博
程，在艰辛兼欢乐中，逐步崛起，成为马来
士学位课程，相信在不久的将来，本校就可

创造契机 迎接挑战
师长们的教诲。有句话说“落其实者思其树， 饮其流者怀其源”，鼓励大家必须“饮水思 源，感恩图报”，因为一个知道感恩的民族，
应届毕业典礼对本校董教、毕业生与家长而
才是一个最有希望的民族。
言，是个既温馨又感恩的日子，同学们感恩父 母的栽培，更不忘感恩师长的循循善诱。董教
同学们能顺利完成学业，对本身以及家庭成员
感恩社会大众的热心教育，鼎力扶持使到本校
而言都是一份至高无上的荣耀。有句放诸四海
能茁壮成长，今年有幸培训了824名毕业生迈入

本校创校至今已迈入44年的历史，万世师表孔
日后不论升学或就业，希望都能不辜负家长、
子说过“四十而不惑”，也就是说经过了40年

澄澈的心面对世界、以一种洒脱的态度面对纷
进，克服一个又一个的困境。常言道：“凡所
扰，这么一来我们就能从容的面对世事的变
难求皆绝好，易能如愿便平常”，愿全体毕业
化。这句话足以让我们受用终生。

Dear Graduands of 2019, We are gathered here today as witnesses to the great work that you have done, to honour you with our warmest congratulations, and to send you on your way to the next phase of your life with the blessings and good wishes of Southern University College. Graduands, each one of you is here today through your own sustained hard work. You have succeeded in facing the challenges of university learning. You have developed qualities of character and mind to achieve this. Now, you are empowered with new confidence to seek out new opportunities. This new confidence can help you to overcome new challenges and unexpected setbacks in life; which will be many. That is the power of a University education. One of the great joys of working and studying in a university is that you get to work with the very best people. We should count ourselves blessed; to be living in this era of time. We are alive in 18
the era of time when opportunities to improve oneself is available and the world is relatively free from wars and conflicts of wars. Today, we are living longer and healthier lives. We have in the world today, fewer people in absolute poverty than ever before and now we have a bigger proportion of the population with access to information and education and who can make it all the way to the university. In short, there has never been a better time to be alive. But, it is still in progress and has not reached perfection. Remember too that there are countries today in 2019 where failures of leadership mean that infant mortality and malnutrition have risen. There is a great need for compassionate leadership and responsible active citizenship. As you graduate now, in 2019, you have the opportunity to do your part, to help create a better future for your families, a better future for your communities, and, a better future for your country.

Big and significant achievements are usually not made by individuals on their own but are made by people working together. So, learn to be a team player. The team who had helped you, are here today, maybe they were earning and paying the bills while you were a student.

Setinggi-tinggi tahniah diucapkan kepada para graduan. Sumbangkan ilmu pengetahuan dan kemahiran anda demi kepentingan diri, keluarga, masyarakat dan negara. 南方大学学院简介 Introduction to Southern University College
南方大学学院的前身为南方学院，创立于1990年，为马来西亚第一所民 办非营利高等学府。创校最初的宗旨是让中学毕业生无需远渡重洋到国 外深造，能在本地接受高等教育，所以于1975年成立宽柔专科部。1986 年，宽中董事会正式向教育部申请于宽柔专科部的基础上成立一所民办学 院。1990年获教育部批准创办南方学院。1996年9月23日，南方学院迁入 现址，即慈善老人萧畹香先生之献地。2012年经历了37年的苦心经营之 后，获马来西亚高等教育部批准升格为南方大学学院。 Southern University College was previously known as Southern College, established in 1990 – the first non-profit and non-governmental college in Malaysia. The aim of Southern UC is to provide the high school graduates with a channel for acquiring professional knowledge. Foon Yew High School established its own Advanced Studies Programme in 1975. The Board of Directors of Foon Yew High School officially made an application to the Ministry of Education for setting up a non-governmental college based on the Foon Yew Advanced Studies Programme in 1986, and it was approved by the Ministry of Education in 1990. Southern College was officially moved to the new campus on 23rd September 1996. The land of Southern
University
College
campus
was
donated
by
the
philanthropist Mr. Siow Wan Heong. It was upgraded by the Ministry of Higher ducation to be Southern University College in 2012.

企业与管理学院是南方大学最大的学院。推出近20项专业 文凭、学士、硕士及博士课程。企管学院的使命是在培养会 计、财务、营销、国际贸易、物流、人力资源等领域的专业 人士。采用创新设计的教学法，包括产学合作、职场实习 等。另外，企业与管理学院除了拥有十多项专业文凭课程及 学士学位课程之外，同时也在2016年开办了硕士学位课程 及2018年开办了第一个博士学位的课程。 The Faculty of Business & Management is the main faculty in Southern University College with the mission to equip students with essential skills to become qualified professionals in the areas of accounting, finance, marketing, and management. The Faculty offers a wide range of quality courses including diploma, degree, master and PhD programmes with a focus on integration of theories with practicums. Accordingly, innovative teaching approaches are designed to promote industry-university collaboration and internship. In addition to more than 10 academic programmes, the University College has introduced Master’s Programme and the first PhD programme in 2016 and 2018 respectively.

The Department of Malay Studies aims to produce students who are able to address linguistic issues and to keep pace with the most up-to-date Malay language knowledge. The Department of English Studies aims to promote cultural and academic understanding from the ideas of the East and West. In addition, the department focuses on student’s abilities in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Department of Chinese Studies emphasizes on classical and modern literature and history, also promote Malaysian Chinese language and culture. The Department of Journalism and Communication Studies aims at equipping students with the essential qualities and skills that enable them to embark on a successful career in the field of Mass Communication and Media.

艺术与设计学院课程涵括广告设计、工业设计、视觉艺术、 多媒体设计和电脑绘制等领域，目前共开办四项专业文凭以 及两项学士课程。艺术与设计学部注重于培育创新意识的艺 术与设计人才，课程设计上也结合了理论及实际创作，并编 排让学生接触市场上最新的资讯，让学生在学习过程中激荡 出更多创新与专业的想法和设计概念。 The Faculty of Art & Design offers four Diploma programmes, namely Advertising Design, Industrial Design, Visual Art and Multimedia Design; and two Bachelor Degree programme in Computer Graphic Design and Industrial Design. All programmes consist of multi-dimensional courses that not only provide the learning of design theories, but also a channel to exercise students’ latent creativity and expression of innovative ideas.

南方大学学院中医药学院成立于2010年，不仅是目前南马区唯一开办 中医药学士学位的大专院校，亦是目前全国唯一开办中医预科课程的 大专院校。由于我院办学严谨、表现杰出，故吸引了来自世界各地、 不同种族的莘莘学子前来就读中医系。作为南方大学学院的其中一份 子，我院有幸获得本地华社的鼎力支持，并秉持饮水思源的精神， 冀望以专业的医学知识和素养回馈大众。我院提供了中医药荣誉学士 学位及中医预科课程，其学生及校友皆积极投入社会，并处在中医药 事业的前线。我院的办学宗旨是栽培新一代的中医师及医学界专业人 士，并传承中医药精髓，致力于推广中医知识及健康意识。 Founded in 2010 in Malaysia, the Faculty of Chinese Medicine (FCM) at Johor is one of the oldest, most prestigious Chinese medicine schools in the south of Peninsular Malaysia. Distinguished faculty and a rigorous curriculum have established FCM as a truly exceptional program that brings in students from all over the world. As part of Southern University College, FCM is supported by the local Chinese community and serve the nationwide. FCM offers Foundation and Bachelor in Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Our students, alumni, and faculty are deeply engaged in the community and are leaders at the forefront of integrative care and public health. Our Faculty’s aims are to train the next generation of TCM practitioners and health care professionals, make remarkable discoveries, and help to create the pathways to better health for our communities at home and around the world.

大学基础学部主要提供大学预科课程，让学生能顺利衔接南 方大学学院的各项本科学士课程。 大学基础学部目前开办两个课程，分别是文科基础班课程和 理科基础班课程。大学基础课程帮助莘莘学子往后的升学规 划，以顺利完成大学学士课程。 The School of Foundation Studies focuses on equipping students with critical thinking and independent learning skills, preparing them for admission into Degree programmes at Southern University College. The School of Foundation Studies offers two major programmes: Foundation in Arts and Foundation in Science. The School aims to provide students with opportunities to construct their own learning by integrating knowledge from various disciplines, using modes of inquiry appropriate to the subjects before they enrol into Degree programme.

After obtaining his PhD degree in Political Science from Harvard University, he was once a representative in United Nation and took part in the drafting of “Universal Declaration of Human Rights”.
