Story Pirates Story Sparks uses creative story sparks from our frie engage in standards-aligned writing activities. Using clips from the hilarious Story Pirates Podcast, as well as inspirational quotes and short bios, these lessons hook students with creative prompts to spark ideas for their writing. Then, different brainstorming, revising, and partner activities assist students in publishing their final writing artifact to complete their lesson and experience.

Best Practices

Implementation: Students complete the first portion of the Story Spark as a whole class or in small groups. Then, the writing process continues either in small groups or independently. Bonus: There is an option for students to connect with a partner to share their culminating work or project at the end with Story Pirates Story Love.

Instruction: The lesson can be done over several smaller sessions or time periods and paired with a core writing unit and methods.

Choice: Lessons can be completed using Seesaw's tools online or writing supplies offline. Students are encouraged to think about what works best for them!
