City of Seguin offering local resource for those wishing to start up a new business bit of help with their ongoing business practices.

A portion of the funding for the operation of the SBC comes from the Seguin Economic Development Corporation. SEDC Executive Director Josh Schneuker says this is a great free service that's available on each Tuesday in Seguin.

MIRACULOUS PRAYER Dear Heart of Jesus, in the past I have asked for favors. This time I ask you this very special one (mention favor). Take it dear Jesus and place it within your own broken heart where your father sees it, then in your merciful eyes it will become your favor, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer for 3 days, promise publication and favor will be granted. Never known to fail I.S.G.

(Seguin) -- If you're thinking about starting your own business, or if you need help with your existing business, the Seguin City Council is making sure that a local resource continues to be available to you. The council on Tuesday approved an agreement that will allow the UTSA SPARK Small Business Center to continue to provide services in Seguin each week.

Schneuker says the center can help people who are new to business, or those who maybe need a little

Schneuker says the SBC promotes the special training sessions that it offers, like a course it recently offered on doing business on social media. He says the SEDC also uses its social media pages to try to help spread the word about the free services that are offered by the SBC. People who need business advice or assistance, can meet with SBC officials on Tuesdays at the City Annex Building next door to Seguin City Hall.

Motorcycle bike rally, fundraiser set to support the DAV By Cindy Aguirre-Herrera (Seguin) -- The Seguin DAV is inviting riders to rev up their bikes for its first ever Veterans Benefit Ride & Activities fundraiser. The event is slated for Saturday beginning at the DAV building located in the old firehouse on North Vaughan Ave. Barbara Trammell, a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 61 Auxiliary, says the group is excited about welcoming dozens and dozens of riders. She says the group has received plenty of support by other veteran groups and is looking to host a full day of activities. "The riders will check-in 8:30 to 10 a.m. and shortly after 10, the first group will go out. There's two stops. They are making like a big circle, make two stops and then they'll be coming back to the chapter. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We have the Liberators Motorcycle Club, a couple of their people, are doing the barbecue. The DAV Auxiliary is having breakfast tacos in the morning and donuts and coffee. That's all free. The lunch is $5 which is

"SPARK Small Business Center contracts with the UTSA's Small Development Center to provide small business training and advising services to the residents and business owners in Seguin and New Braunfels. Every Tuesday, we have a small business service advisor that sets up shop in the annex building conference room. He's there today as he is every Tuesday," said Schneuker.

"He provides free confidential one on one training with entrepreneurs and small business owners that are in the service area. In addition, they also hold a number of trainings in the Seguin area each year for existing small businesses and even folks looking to start a business as well so they really know what they are getting into before hand," said Schneuker.

really good for a barbecue lunch. We have a large silent auction. We have leather clothes, helmets all sorts of stuff on this auction and it will last about 3 or 4 p.m. before it's completely over," said Trammell. Trammell says those who don't want to ride but who are looking to support the group are also encouraged to stop by. She says all proceeds raised through the auction, a 50/50 raffle or barbecue meal will go directly to support the DAV and its members. "The proceeds go to DAV for the Disabled American Veterans programs and actually, some of that is set aside to help because sometimes, the DAV does help if they need help with the rent or if they need help with something else, they are out of work -- the DAV does step in and help them. The main focus of the DAV is to help them get their disability which is very difficult. The DAV does all the paperwork. We have a PTSD group that also meets and they are really focused on the disabled veterans," said Trammell. Cost for riders is $25 while the cost for co-riders is $10. The DAV Chapter House is located at 425 N. Vaughan Ave just south of Park West.

County residents again being offered free services at local library By Darren Dunn (Seguin) -- Guadalupe County residents will continue to have free access to the Seguin Public Library -- at least for another year. The Seguin City Council on Tuesday approved an inter local agreement between the city and the county that will again provide county residents free access to the library in exchange for funds from Guadalupe County.

Library Services Director Jacki Gross says they are pleased to again be able to partner up with the county to provide their services for free to residents who live outside the city of Seguin.

this year and so are the Marion and Schertz libraries -- they are all so very happy. Our portion for FY 2020 is $173,742 which is about 13.5 percent of our annual FY 2020 budget," said Gross.

"This is the annual inter-local agreement with the county for library services to residents that reside in the county but outside city limits. It's free services. I know there was some discussion earlier in the budget year that they were going to reduce our funding and I'm pleased to say they chose not to

Gross says they understand that this could be the last year that the community libraries in Seguin, Marion and Schertz receive funding from the county. County officials have told the libraries that funding could be cut or possibly eliminated in the budget for fiscal year 2021.

Families invited to annual Janda Exotics petting zoo plus pumpkin patch edge level on all exotic and domestic animals." She says all baby animals born at the animal ranch are cared for and then placed in other like-minded licensed facilities, zoos or at approved private homes. "Almost every animal we have is exotic. Even our cows, they are miniature cows. We have miniature horses. Z-Donk, she's half zebra, half donkey. She's going to be one of our featured animals this weekend that is going to be out making her debut and all the animals are very friendly. We run a private petting zoo throughout the year so all of the animals are very used to people and our staff takes very, very good care of them," said Duncan. Duncan says this annual effort each October is a great way to enjoy the fall season while also supporting the mission to protect the animals. "We are new to the area but I do find that a lot of people are just learning about us. We've been in the area for about four years but we grow so much every year and we add so many different things that every time people come out, we look different, we upgrade a lot. We spend a lot of time and our resources expanding and making everything better for our animals and I think it really shows when people talk about us," said Duncan. Again, the event will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at jandaexotics.com. Tickets are $7 a person. There is no cost for children two and under. Admission includes the cost of the bounce house and petting zoo.

Navarro football visits struggling Eastside Memorial in Thursday district tilt (Austin) - A pair of District 13-4A-Division II programs who share the Panther mascott but sit on opposite ends of the football spectrum square off Thursday when Navarro visits Eastside Memorial at House Park in Austin. Navarro is 6-0 on the season and ranked as high as No. 5 in the various 4A Division II state polls after crushing Llano 55-14 in last Friday's district opener.

Deleon is averaging a staggering 11.8 yards per carry. Jean Sims (399 yds., 4 TD), Kyle Dietert (256 yds., 3 TD), and Brody Whitson (229 yds., 3 TD), have provided backfield depth while All-District performer Johnny Alegria (229 yds., 1 TD) has missed significant time with an injury.

Eastside Memorial is 0-6 overall, 0-1 in district, and remains scoreless on the year after a 51-0 loss to Wimberley last week. Opponents have outscored Eastside Memorial 309-0 this season. The Austin ISD program has dropped 18 straight games dating back to 2017, including an 83-0 loss to Navarro last season, and has only scored one touchdown in that span.

Safety Mark Wozniak is the defense's leading tackler with 75 stops - an average of 12.5 per game. Linebacker Gabriel Means has eight of the team's 64 tackles for loss. Nine different Panthers have recorded a sack this season, and seven players have recovered at least one fumble. Wozniak, Alegria, and Nick Billings each have one interception.

Navarro has outscored its opponents by an average margin of 43.5 points to 17.8 in Rod Blount's second season as head coach. Blount's Panthers enter Thursday averaging 427.5 total yards per game (406 rushing) and

Thursday's kickoff at House Park is set for 7:30 p.m. A recap of that game and Navarro's win over Llano with Blount can be heard during the Panther Report on Friday at 6:30 p.m. on KWED 1580-AM and Seguintoday.com.
