"We do a fresh cut on the bottom of the tree, drill it and put it in water so they are just as fresh as they can be and we will be ready to open to the public to start selling on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and then we will be open all day on Saturday from noon to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and then everyday of the week after that from 4:30 to 7 p.m. until we are out of trees," said Maddox. "We do have some modest, smaller trees that are modestly priced and there's some of the larger trees (that) do get up in price a little bit but we believe that we have

enough variety to meet everybody's financial needs," said Maddox. To help celebrate the opening of the lot, Maddox says the Lions Club in partnership with the First Presbyterian Church will be hostingAChristmas Tree Festival this Saturday at the tree lot. Maddox says the group deeply appreciates the church's partnership in preserving a deeply rooted tradition in Seguin. "Traditionally for a longtime, we were doing our lot at Plaza Del Rey and a new management company there changed their policy on not allowing outside folks to come and take up parking spot areas and so the First Presbyterian Church was kind enough to come to our rescue and allow us to have our lot their at the church and what we are really sponsoring together is the Christmas Tree Festival which will be Nov. 30 from 10 o'clock in the morning to 1 o'clock and the church helps us out with that. The ladies of the church make cookies and stuff like that and help us out and so that's been a real nice partnership that we've appreciated there," said Maddox. See TREES, page 3
