Villino Florio is a monumental historic building, located in Zisa, Palermo, at the Viale Regina Margherita.
The house, nestled in a garden now surrounded by tall new buildings, was built for the Florio family by architect Ernesto Basile between 1899 and 1902.
It is one of the first architectural works in Liberty style, and is considered one of the masterpieces of Art Nouveau at a European level. Vincenzo Florio was a cosmopolitan and very dedicated to traveling. After the golden age, the villa fell into disuse until a fire in 1962 damaged part of the interior. Since the restoration, it hosts the offices of the Regional Department for Architecture and Contemporary Art and is one of the representative offices of the Sicilian Region.
