Lauren Maroney Sterling, VA Platinum Spirit Award Design Excellence: Best Bedroom Space
A client came into Ethan Allen‘s Sterling, Virginia, Design Center, gazed upon the Timlyn wing chair, and instantly fell in love. It was tailored in a blue and white chinoiserie fabric, reminding the client of a ginger jar collection she had at home. ”She had hearts in her eyes,“ recalls interior designer Lauren Maroney.
The client had just moved from Florida to the Washington, D.C., suburbs, and wanted to create a bedroom inspired by that ginger jar palette. “Blue and white are so timeless,” says Lauren. “The combination can go modern or more traditional.“
The client‘s home was a new build, but her taste ran classic—two elements that Lauren‘s bedroom design brought into balance. After making a home call to see the bedroom, which was very roomy with high ceilings, Lauren
recommended the Charlton upholstered bed (opposite) and the Hollywood Regency-inspired Powell dresser and night tables. Hotel-inspired Satin Stitch bedding keeps the look classic, simple, and clean.
Across from the bed (above), Lauren created a cozy seating area, incorporating the client‘s beloved Timlyn chairs. Dark wood finishes and gold-tone metals make the room feel elegant, yet cozy and warm—a Spirit Award-winning combination.
